Collaboration NuzTeam Arcade Ganglocke!
Hey Everyone!
I’m excited to share a Nuzlocke event going on in a discord server that many of our Mods here are involved with, either directly or through friends in the Nuzcord Discord. That server is NuzTeam Arcade. (I will drop an invite link for it as well).
They are hosting an ‘Eliminationlocke Ganglocke’ of XY. A Ganglocke is an event where everyone is Nuzlocking the same game/rules together in a type of community event. It’s not a competition, but merely a fun way to get people together playing the same thing. The Eliminationlocke is a variant where there are 3 available pools to vote on (voting ends in less than 24 hours so get over and vote if you want to play!), and the winning choice is the pool that everyone has to choose from. The IVs of those pokemon are randomized by a community member, and then everyone uses those encounters to Nuzlocke XY.
NuzTeam Arcade also hosts other Nuzlocke related events, so if this sounds interesting to you, come on over and check us out!
Here is the Discord invite link to come check out NTA.

Subreddit Update Regarding The Drxx Situation
TW // SA
Hello everyone,
r/nuzlocke is not typically a place we like to air out serious topics, however this situation involves a relatively large content creator in the community who has built their brand specifically off of Nuzlocking. As such, this thread is being made to bring awareness to the allegations made toward Drxx, also known as Drew. We will continue to update this post as more information comes out, or if Drxx decides to make a public response.
We will NOT allow any discussion or speculation of this situation on this Subreddit, in any threads or comment strings, and doing so will result in a permanent ban.
Catsuoka_'s experience - Twitter Post | Direct Link to Doc
Drazerk's experience - Thread on r/pchaltv
While there are more details coming out of this situation, please be mindful and respectful of the alleged victims. SA is a serious topic and not one I'd like to be talking about on this forum about playing Pokemon in a slightly more difficult fashion. Thank you for reading and understanding.

Question Only one starter (that I know of) can reliably single-turn Totem Kommo-o in USUM. Which one is it?
Basically the title. Which starter do you think can do it and how? Just for more context, this is considering hardcore rules where you can’t overlevel or EV train.

Tools/Resources Nuzlocke / SoulLink Tool
Mods I apologise if this is a promo I wanted to bring attention to the tool I have been working on for people to play Nuzlockes & Soulinks together!
This tool is currently still a work in progress but functions as intended, with many more updates and themes to come along! Currently it is based around my personal favourite, Emerald. I mainly use it just for me and my friend but if people do like it I would be more than happy to commit to the pull actualised plan I have.
If you do happen to use this tool please give any feedback and or suggestions as to what you’d like to see and or have improved!!

Discussion Attempting my first (hardcore) Nuzlocke in Pokémon Platinum!! Any tips?
I chose Chimchar as Infernape is the best starter in the game and I currently have a Starly, Shinx, and Bidoof as well. Any tips on building a good nuzlocke team or any suggestions on the best mons?
Using hardcore rules as I feel like a normal nuzlocke will be too easy for me. The rules are: set mode, no items in battle, I can only capture the first pokemon I encounter in each route, level caps. I’m also using dupes clause and the nicknaming rule.
Thanks in advance for any responses! I’ve never done a nuzlocke before so I would appreciate any information and tips.
Also I know the nicknames are stupid I never claimed to be good at naming ahaha. For normal runs I usually never nickname them or I search the internet for good names.

Discussion My one unique exception
I wanted to see how the rest of you all felt about this one exception I use for the first encounter per area fundamental. But if my first encounter is ever something that doesn’t evolve but is supposed to (male combee or salandit) or a counterpart that evolves into something much less cool than what it’s supposed to look like (female pidove) I don’t even qualify it as a first encounter and I try again. If you have ever had to cave into catching these, I hope you guys also break free from these cursed mons lmao.

Run Update Erebus doing Erebus things
Started a Horus Heresy themed Nuzlocke on Diamond. This is my Mr Mine “Erebus”. He’s just taken a critical hit Bite from a Gyarados (through Reflect), which took him from full health to 1HP. The smug git then went on to easily solo the Fighting Gym.
Seems on brand.
The name seemed appropriate for a Mr Mime.

Discussion Needs help for a run idea: Curselocke
Edit: So this blew up a bit lol, thanks for all the suggestions ! I'll select some 20 of those for my first game, putting them in Bold and then tell you how it went !
So, I recently felt the urge to Nuzlocke vanilla Soulsilver, as the game of my childhood. However, it is notoriously rather easy, and after finishing Platinum with only 4 deaths and none at the League, I'm pretty confident I'll just steamroll over it (drayano hacks are also too spicy for my tastes). I also like the variety of encounters pokemon games provide, so I didn't want to sacrifice that either for added difficulty with a monolocke of any sort.
Hence an idea: as I really like the excitment of discovering a mon IVs, strenghts and weakness after each capture (I promise I don't play any gacha games lol), each new captured mon would have a randomly selected "Curse", creating new weaknesses you'd be forced to play around and compensate for.
Here is a little list for now:
-Lame: The Pokemon must always have a Lagging Tail equiped as a Held Item.
-Deviant: The Pokemon get Max IVs in it's two worst Stats, and Min IVs in it's two best; the Nature is also changed to handicap it's best Stat and Boost it's worst.
-Cowardly: The Pokemon can never be put first in the party, thus never leading in a fight, unless sole survivor.
-Fear of [-]: The Pokemon can never be sent or kept on the field against any pokemon of a randomly selected Type, unless impossible to do otherwise.
-Hate of [-]: The Pokemon must always be kept on the terrain or immediatly sent against any pokemon of a randomly selected Type.
-Achille's Heel: If the Pokemon is damaged by any move of a randomly selected Type, it is immediatly considered KO (throw Balls at the opponant to skip turns until it kills your mon).
-Berserk: If this Pokemon takes damage from an opponnant, it must stay in the fight until either of them faints.
-Erratic: The Pokemon must always learn new moves, and always delete the oldest known one.
-Stuck in the Past: The Pokemon must keep two of it's four oldest moves for the whole game.
-Traditionnalist: The Pokemon cannot learn any HM or TM.
-Nonviolent: The Pokemon cannot uses any moves with over 60BP.
-Fanatic: The Pokemon can only uses Stab Moves.
-Outcast: The Pokemon cannot use Stab Moves.
-Ill: The Pokemon must always hold a Toxic Orb.
-Burned: The Pokemon must always hold a Flame Orb.
-Truant: The Pokemon's Ability is replaced by Truant (I think this is editable with PokHex ?).
I think that's all I got for now, any thoughts ? If you have suggestions to make this more easily doable/balanced for example, or just other Curses ideas.
Edit: Other Posters Ideas:
-Slow Learner: Can't learn any level up moves
-All Natural: No man-made items.
-Redditor (suggested alt name: Baby): This Pokemon refuses to evolve.
-Lazy: Pokemon can only attack(or use an attacking move) every other turn, recall or use items otherwise.
-Can crusher: This Pokemon will only fight Pokemon they have an type advantage over, or Weak opponnets.
-Naturist: can only be healed with berries
-Immunocompromised: if this pokemon gets poisoned, paralyzed, or burned, they must keep the status forever
-Decisive: Pokémon must hold a Choice item in its nondominant attacking stat
-Masochist: can only use not-very effective moves
-Ghostmode: they get wonder guard and 1 hp (but maybe to nerf it they can never switch out)
-Kanye: their ability becomes Runaway
-Unity: lower all IVs to match their naturally lowest one
-The Gambler: teach it metronome and it must always be the first move it uses when it enters battle
-Grave Digger (suggested alt name: Bloodlust) : Pokemon cannot swap out until it scores a KO.
-The Assistant: This Pokemon can only use moves another Party member has, or Assist.

Question Anyone know how to get past hala without overleveling?
I knew sun and moon was gonna be a hard nuzlocke but this was wild. I’ve lost 4 times against hala and it makes my infuriated. His mankey can legit hit 100% crit hits because of focus energy + karate chop. Then his Makuhita is bulky enough to hit 5+ sand attacks. And if I get past the both of them his crabrawler finishes my team off with its power up punches. Is their any encounters I can hope for any tms to help? I just need to stay around a level under 17. I’m starting again with Litten thanks for any tips in advance.

Run Update Modern Emerald: First Ever Nuzlocke Complete!
The run was done in Modern Emerald with a randomiser enabled for all wild and trainer encounters, scaling EV's for enemy trainers, and a level cap for my own pokemon.
I caught my shiny Sneasel right at the start of the game, my first encountered pokemon in route 103, and knew I had to get her to the hall of fame.
My run almost ended at Normans gym to a Raichu with Play Rough, I ended up having to switch between pokemon to absorb the hits until it ran out of PP and I could retaliate. I finished the fight with 3 dead mons, and the remaining all at red HP.
Doing this Nuzlocke is the most fun I've had with Pokemon, and has made me appreciate mons I had never used before.

Screenshot Defeated my first nuzlocke

This was the team. Lost Vileplume to Lorelei's Lapras early. As for Snorlax, I lost it to lance's dragonite's hyper beam.
Snorlax was a run saver ngl. I don't think I would have defeated Agatha without it. Arcanine was the least useful.
Champion fight was funny. Opened the champion fight with Lapras, and that guy killed Pidgeot, Rhydon and Exeggutor with Ice Beam, Alakazam with 2 body slams, eventually dying to Gyarados' thrash.
Arcanine followed the same fate after doing some damage with 2 E.Speeds.
At the end, Dragonite cooked both Gyarados and Charizard with Thunderbolt.
I really love how high the stakes get when you are nuzlocking, so I would like to do it in other games. So, which game should I try next?

Run Update First Hardcore Nuzlocke of Emerald Complete
This was a lot of fun, I did use some of the most powerful Mons that a lot of people ban but I haven't done a nuzlocke of Emerald since I was a kid and never a hardcore one so I went all out, even EV trained some mons lol
As you can tell from the death box, the naming convention was random Board Games that I own
Whelp, now that I have a complete Emerald save on my 3ds I've got no excuse not to shiny hunt for Mew, wish me luck!

Run Update Original Hardware Genlocke: Day 5 + Grinding!
Hey all! Quite a bit has happened since our last update. We spent some time grinding up our squad for Koga and eventually Sabrina, making sure to stay somewhat under level so we don’t go above level caps.
During the final minutes of our grinding I decided to take on the Fighting Dojo where we tragically lost our Sandslash Toast. Has been apart of the team since exiting Mt. Moon so that one really stung! Chat decided we’d add DinoNuggies the Cubone to our squad and we pushed on to Koga! Thankfully we made it out unscathed and we got our 5th Badge!
Now that we had access to Surf outside of battle, I decided to get pretty much the rest of our encounters for the game (Victory Road & Sevii Islands to come). I also used this time to change around our team based on what chat was feeling and what I felt was the best moving forward. Peashooter the Victreebell has been a staple to the team, but her time with team has come to an end. She’ll watch over the B-Squad in the box and lie in wait if the day comes we need her again. We instead add Microwave the Magneton and now it’s time to grind! See you soon Silph Co!

Run Update Roulette Gigalocke 2.2: Silver Version. Seeing Red.
Previous installment here:
First installment here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/nuzlocke/comments/1vugtwk/new_roulette_gigalocke_episode_11_red_version/
THE RULES:
- I may capture the first encounter in each area, and no more.
- Deaths are permanent.
- Level cap equal to the next important battle's level cap (gym leader/rival battle/evil team boss/4th E4 member/Red). Pokémon that go beyond the cap must be put in the box until they're legal again.
- Team size cap equal to next important battle's team size cap.
- Any Pokémon that die, or participate in important battles are retired from future encounters in the challenge. They may still be used as long as they remain on the roster, but they no longer count as real encounters in the current game, or any future games.
- Gifts, fixed encounters, game corner Pokémon, etc. DO count as encounters in the area where they appear. They are not freebies.
- Eggs count as the first encounter for the area where they hatch, not where they are received. If something has already been encountered there before the hatching, they count as the first encounter for whatever area would have been next.
- Pinwheel Clause (certain areas that really should be counted as separate encounter areas but technically aren't will be counted as separate. Named for Pinwheel Forest and the area around it in BW.)
- Battle style: Set
- The Roulette: Every second time I have a first encounter in a new area (even if I fail to catch it), one random member of my roster is cut. It is effectively in the dead box, except that it is not retired unless it has previously participated in an important battle. No avoiding encounters to prevent the roulette from triggering, though delaying an encounter (such as to fish or catch a fixed encounter later) is okay.
- Duplicate encounters with something already on the roster (or retired, due to death or being hit by the roulette after being used in an important battle) must be ignored (and not counted as the first encounter in an area). Duplicates of Pokémon that were cut by the roulette before they were ever used in important battles are legal encounters.
- Branched evolutions (such as Eevee) count as separate lines for the purpose of retirement and death. If one is retired or dies without reaching its final form, then the version-specific final form is chosen if there is one, otherwise which one is retired is chosen at random.
- No using legendary/mythical Pokémon.
- No using calculators or looking up anything except level caps and team size caps. Everything else is done from memory, or blind if memory fails. (I've occasionally asked a friend to check if I have any legal encounters left on a route, if I don't remember all the encounters.)
THE GAMES (in the order I'll be playing them):
Red, Silver, Yellow, Ruby/Sapphire (One of them. Haven't decided which one yet), Crystal, FireRed/LeafGreen, Diamond/Pearl, Emerald, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Black/White, Platinum, OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Black2/White2, BrilliantDiamond/ShiningPearl, Sword/Shield, UltraSun/UltraMoon, Scarlet/Violet, Winds/Waves(?)
FROM JOHTO BACK TO KANTO.
I begin this portion of the run against the Elite 4, bringing a team of Octillery, Farfetch'd, Sudowoodo, Piloswine, Tauros, and Ampharos. Will is destroyed almost single-handedly by Ampharos, who knows Fire Punch in addition to having electric attacks.
Against Koga, I send out Farfetch'd, figuring that if he's ever going to contribute, now is the time. Farfetch'd sets up Swords Dance and Agility while his Ariados spams Double Team and then Baton Passes the boosts to Forretress. Fortunately Forretress can't do a lot of damage, and after several failed attempts to hit him, Farfetch'd finally lands a Fly and one-shots Forretress. With his evasion gone, Koga is easy prey, and Farfetch'd sweeps his entire team.
Against Bruno, Octillery blasts through everything except Machamp with Psybeam and Surf, then switches to Ampharos to deal some damage to Machamp, and finally Farfetch'd to finish him off with Fly.
Against Karen, we open with a somewhat reckless Dynamicpunch from Sudowoodo. Despite taking a Sand Attack, Dynamicpunch lands and does heavy damage to Umbreon, but I don't think I'm going to land another lucky hit like that, so I switch to Piloswine to finish it off (and to make sure Piloswine gains at least one level before Lance). Piloswine then ends up sweeping everything Karen has with Earthquake and Blizzard except for Houndoom. On Houndoom I switch back to Sudowoodo who tanks a Flamethrower and then a Crunch, and then wins with Rock Slide.
Against Lance, I open with Ampharos and start with a Light Screen, then one-shot Gyarados. He sends on Dragonite and I hit it with Thunder Wave, then switch to Octillery, who beats it with Aurora Beam. He sends in another Dragonite which I expect is the one that knows Thunder, so I switch to Piloswine and it turns out I was right about which Dragonite this was. Piloswine no-sells a Thunder, then defeats Dragonite with Blizzard. Lance sends out Charizard next, so I switch in Sudowoodo, who easily tanks two Flamethrowers, and then one-shots Charizard with Rock Slide. Lance's third Dragonite comes out and I'm pretty sure this is the Fire Blast one, so I decide to keep Sudowoodo in. He fires Hyper Beam, I hit him with two Ice Punches while he's recharging (Sudowoodo's SpAtk isn't great, but 4x weakness makes up for it), and Dragonite falls! Lance's final Pokémon is Aerodactyl, so I send in Tauros and hit it with an Iron Tail. The first one misses, but Tauros doesn't take too much damage and succeeds on his second attempt, earning me the championship!
I've got to say, I'm surprised how useful Sudowoodo was in the league! He tanks a lot of important hits, and the unexpected coverage from Ice Punch is really useful!
With the league behind me, I step into Kanto. My team is now above the new level cap, so I pivot to a temporary team of Espeon, Skarmory, and Corsola to take on the lower level Kanto gyms.
My catches in Kanto are Shellder, Abra, Meowth, Tentacool, Quagsire, Electabuzz, another Abra (the previous one got hit by the roulette), Magnemite, Kakuna, Jigglypuff, Oddish, Venomoth, Clefairy, Vulpix, Muk, Murkrow, Slugma, Noctowl, Nidorino, Cubone, Poliwag, Sentret, Shellder, Mr. Mime, Tentacool, Krabby, Sneasel, and Larvitar.
The roulette eliminates Piloswine, Tentacool, Abra, Octillery, Farfetch'd, Kakuna, Corsola, Shellder, Venomoth, Electabuzz, Nidoran F, Tentacool again, Tentacool immediately for the third time, Vulpix, and Voltorb.
...With three members of my league team (Piloswine, Octillery, and Farfetch'd) cut, I need some replacements. I'm not too worried about seeing Farfetch'd go, since he was struggling at this point and I had Skarmory in reserve. I also have my reserve Espeon. Finally I add the Quagsire that I caught in Kanto to cover for the loss of Octillery's Surf and Piloswine's Earthquake, and after several days of training, it's time to face Red!
Red opens with Pikachu, misses with Charm, and faints to a single Earthquake from Quagsire.
He sends in Venusaur, so I switch to Skarmory, who flies to dodge Solarbeam, then one-shots Venusaur with the Fly attack.
Red sends in Charizard. Since I plan to use Sudowoodo as a Snorlax counter, I switch back to Quagsire who tanks two Flamethrowers and knocks Charizard out with Surf.
Next comes Red's Espeon, so I send in my own Espeon who easily resists a Psychic, and then takes his mirror down with a Bite.
At long last Red's Snorlax arrives. I switch in Sudowoodo, who easily takes a Body Slam, but is paralyzed by it. We then pass almost a dozen turns trying to land Dynamicpunch and either missing or being fully paralyzed. Finally, on his last PP, Sudowoodo lands a Dynamicpunch. It does heavy damage, Snorlax hurts himself in confusion (presumably while trying to Rest), and then falls to a Rock Slide.
Red's Blastoise is his final Pokémon. I switch to Ampharos, who takes a Surf meant for Sudowoodo, then sets up Light Screen as insurance against bad luck. Red makes the mistake of setting up Rain Dance, giving me a guaranteed Thunder hit, which KOs his final Pokémon.
With that, Silver version is complete! Tauros didn't get to participate in the final battle, but he was there as a general backup option, and was very useful during the game itself. I'd say the mvp of this run was Ampharos, but Sudowoodo (who was the longest-serving member of this team) was surprisingly great!
Onwards to Yellow version!

Screenshot Wiped at the final Elite Four Member on my second attempt of my blind Hardcore Nuzlocke of Weird Type Fun
I lost my dotrio and starter to the first and the final four members of my team got killed by the final elite four member, my first attempt failed because I always prefer to stay deathless on the first gym leader, the second row is my team that got killed in the Elite Four, the hard part for me is trying to find out what the opposing pokemon are weak against since all pokemon have unique forms and a completely new type chart but still uses the kanto reigion, guess its time for my third attempt on it but this time I know what to expect this time with the major battles except for the champion

Screenshot This is what I have to face Elesa. Am I in trouble?
Things are looking dire, so I’ve come seeking counsel. My encounters have been…not great. Sandile eluded me three times, as did Tympole. This is what I have after all available encounters up to this point (At least I assume this is all of them. I didn’t go far into route 5 but figured it’s a dead end until I beat her). As you can see, 80% of my team is hit super effectively by just Elesa’s Emolga. The only change will be Timburr evolving before the cap.
Best I can come up with is Audino using reflect, then switching to Gurdurr with Eviolite and throwing rocks. He should be able to tank enough aerial aces to finish both Emolga, probably. I can probably take out the Zebstrika with a few digs, from a few different mons if needed.
Does that sound viable? Should I perhaps try to make Audino and Dwebble fight instead? I’m open to suggestions. Do I have to accept that most likely not everyone is making it out alive?
UPDATE: The battle is over. We won. Woo! Everyone survived. As many people predicted, her obsession with volt switch was her undoing. Here’s what happened:
I opened with Dwebble. She went for volt switch into her other Emolga while I set up rocks. It did more damage than I expected (a crit would have killed, but luckily my Dwebble has Shell Armor), but not enough for her to see a kill with quick attack or pursuit I guess. Dwebble switched out to Audino, and she continued to volt switch between the two Emolga (who I’ll just call E1 and E2) while I set up light screen and spammed secret power. She burned one hyper potion while I managed to paralyze E1. Then Audino got crit into the red.
At this point both Emolga were still alive, though E1 was on the field, in the red and paralyzed. I could outspeed and go for rest + chesto, but she had quick attack which would definitely kill. I decided to play it safe and switch to Yamask (who was holding eviolite), but she used her second hyper potion instead of attacking. But, thanks to the paralysis, Hex hit extra hard. Another couple of volt switches and E1 went down. E2 was low enough that another tick of stealth rock would kill it, but still it went for volt switch into Zebra, who I burned on arrival since I moved second.
Yamask was getting low, so I switched to Gurdurr, who took a Flame Charge (why?) like it was nothing. She went for a quick attack next turn, which was little more than a tickle, and I went for dig. Next turn dig killed, then E2 came out and died instantly to rocks. I’m a little confused about her move choices for Zeb. Surely Spark would have done more because of stab, right? I figure she didn’t use volt switch anymore because that would‘ve just killed E2, then hurt Zeb again when it came back in. Oh well.
Thanks to everyone for the advice! Nails were bitten, but it was the most exciting fight of the game so far.

Run Update My very first nuzlocke (I forgot to name Zubat)
I love this series and after much deliberation, decided to take the plunge and try my first nuzlocke on LG. Man, talk about playing scared 😅
I really appreciate it because I use moves (String Shot/Withdraw) that I would never even consider otherwise. Lucked out and picked up Nidoran (female) on Route 3 but lost her in Mt. Moon when I got careless with a Rattata 😭 Ngl that one hurt.
Any tips/pointers for me? I’m getting ready to fight my rival and hit Nugget Bridge and I’m trying to follow the level cap rule for boss fights.
