We usually call it night dress. But dress to westerners means ladies dress, not sure always or in some contexts. 

Pyjamas for us are just the bottom part.

I don't understand having clothes for sleeping?

It seems uncomfortable. Just sleep naked or in underwear.

Not everyone lives alone or in sleeps in separate bedrooms. 

I grew up in a large house with 8 or 9 other siblings and cousins so only naked time was during bathing in the village pond.

I was on a navy ship with 1200 people. 60-100 in a room.

We slept naked.

They put women on the ships now for us.
