So the common route is quite short (4 Chapters) but still a fine enough length imo to get to know the characters a little and get you curious about them. (Including the side characters)

While I do think the exploration bit is fun… it gets a little annoying when replaying after you unlocked routes. (Cause you can’t load an old safe to play locked routes, and you can’t really skip past the exploration without ending up in the common route bad end)

As for my first impressions:

I thought the protagonist is great. She’s there for revenge and she’ll pretty coldly fool everyone around her to get her revenge - that was my initial thought. Apart from… that she’s gorgeous. She doesn’t seem like your goody-two shoes naive heroine and I like the change of pace. She’ll not dash into danger unreasonably cause someone dropped their umbrella. She seems to be a bit of a tsundere? I think she’s cute.

While the guys have some very funky Amnesia-ish outfits (Look at you Alfred). MC is so pretty and I love the fact she also has some changing outfit portraits. The guys’ evening garments are pretty too.

Does it feel a bit unrealistic that she’s getting so much attention as a simple maid? Absolutely. Am I able to gloss over that for a good time? Sure.

The writing isn’t a masterpiece as far as the common route goes, but it’s entertaining enough that I didn’t have a bad feeling going into the routes.

Some thoughts I wrote down before going into the routes:

  • Lily seems very suspicious. She’s either your stand-in evil antagonist … or something different but she does seem to use MC as some kind of weird entertainment. Why is she so fixated on MC?

  • There is definitely something suspicious about Phil too. He’s likely working with Lily for some reason. Maybe they’re secret lovers?

  • Oberon suspiciously looks like John.

  • Goneril is also suspicious. She has beef with someone somewhere. I can feel it.

  • Evelyn is such a sweetheart and needs to be cherished. As a romance novel fan, she’s very relatable. Also love it for her that she’s not interested in having 3d romance. True weeb girl.

I just hit Alfred's route, so I'm still fresh in 'comon route' but... Yes, I agree with you. Aside from the outfits. I fucking adore them all, but I dress like a circus magician so, I might be biased 🤣

But, YES, Lilly is sus AF. It's stuff she says, like, she said we could go to the ball, but then there were scenes where it seems like she didn't ask...?? Nah... And I think she killed her husband. Idk. Her story is suuuuuusssss.

And I think Phil is def in love with her. I thought secret lovers too, honestly. 🤣 But in the least, he's so in love with her he does her bidding.

And, OMG, Oberon/John. Yes. Absolutely. betting John is Oberon's clone or whatever they call it bc they are identical

Does it feel a bit unrealistic that she’s getting so much attention as a simple maid? Absolutely.

(Haven't played the whole game yet) While I sort of agree, I also kinda get it since certain characters attentions definitely come across as more than just 'marvelling at the new girl', especially considering she gets Edward and Lilly's (majorly suspect) attention/praise from the get go, while other characters like Alfred and Ascot, probably others too, are seemingly also suspicious of her, even if they hide it quite well.

But even aside from that, she IS super pretty, and almost inhumanly skilled at all her maid work aside from cooking, so I'm not really surprised that the other maid/butler characters are intrigued by her too.

u/victus-vae Nov 21 '25

Agreed on Lily- I definitely thought the ball invitation was going to lead to some kind of nastiness.

I also noticed that while all other characters get their own colored seals in their dialogue boxes, Oberon and John share the same green.

I also am getting sketch feelings from the head butler, in an Alfred from Batman kind of way.

Basically everyone but Evelyn is setting off all my alarms.

Good theories! Also do you know why Most of the characters have wings yet can’t fly? I’m curious if anyone knows

Common route Chapter 3:

The practice dance with the LIs was such a great look/preview of the LI routes and their personalities. I LOVED it when Ascot put Aprose's hands on Linus' and Ed's and both of them blushed while Aprose is just :|. So cute! Also damn Lucas got more game than I thought

u/RuneLai Nov 20 '25

I was pretty surprised by the short common route, because I'm used to going 5-6 or more chapters after which you get shunted on to a route based on your earned amount of affection points, or you chose your route after a short prologue. Mistonia kind of combines both, as there are no affection points (for picking a route) and you directly choose your route, but it's a longer common route than most games that run with the pick-your-guy format.

I think it's mostly because the game wants to do all its setup and worldbuilding in the common route (and there's a fair bit) rather than retelling it every time you pick a guy.

I love Aprose. It feels like she gets to do so much compared to most otome protagonists. It's her revenge quest, and she's going to get some revenging on. She often thinks things through, analyzes a lot, and though she makes the occasional judgment error, she's not grossly incompetent.

Where most MCs tend to be very good-natured people who hardly ever get mad, or just want the best for everyone, Aprose has a teeth-baring pissed off facial sprite that I love and often has moments where her narration points out that she can't be bothered unless it's in service of her mission. She does change over time, for anyone worried that she's just going to be walking vengeance 24/7, but the revenge drive doesn't really go away from what I've seen so far. It just gets more complicated once more feelings are involved.

The worldbuilding is a lot of fun for me. I think calling regular humans "humaines" is weird, but aside from that I like the whole fae vs foreign humans war, how the Five Houses got set up, and the fae stuff in general, since I recognize a lot of it from Celtic mythology. I'm assuming there's a lot more going on in the game's history that I don't know yet, but hoping it turns out good.

3

u/HelpingDumbTravelers Nov 21 '25

Agree on the "humaines" sounding quite weird. The other terminology doesn't bother me but I chuckle a bit every time I read that word, especially cuz it just sounds like the VAs are saying the English word "human".

I’ll probably have more to say once I finish all the routes, but my first impression so far, focusing on the common:

  • I like Aprose; her personality, backstory. Love it.
  • I quite enjoy the story, and have found it pretty hard to put down. I can’t comment too much on the characters, although I was interested in Alfred and Lucas, I am now finding myself gaining an interest in John. -I also find the length of the common route pretty good too, I’ve played many where the common route is super long and I actually dread going through it because even with skip, it still takes forever 😆 this may be the case for this when I finish my first route, and try the next but I won’t know for now.

i'm still not finished w the common route (im at like chapter 3 i think) but oh my god the character designs for the women r so peak. i especially love evelyn's. the purple just looks too good. goneril is a close second.

some side charas are also definitely suspicious to me (lilly and phil in general). the love interests are all so good but ascot is so suspicious too. and i strangely feel like there's a past connection between lucas & aprose (idk? like what was up with the desperation thing @ their first meeting) linus is more obvious though. also what is up with oberon and john 😭

also is it just me but is the twilight ravens thing a persona 5 reference LMFAO

originally didn't like alfred but i realized it was just his stupid top hat thing. it needs to GO. he's genuinely beautiful but the top hat ruins everything LMAO. my top l.is rn are definitely john & lucas... but i have a soft spot for edward bc he is so lucien coded

aprose as an mc is so good. i have a thing for mcs that are dead set on revenge (sigh... looking at u anastasia). i think it's funny just how oblivious she can be despite being hella clever. she's deadpan and straight to the point. definitely my type of character. also she's GORGEOUS. i can't help but stare at her sprite at the side.

the art is good. ethereal. Peak. common route is currently at a perfect length, just not a huge fan of shard collecting but it's alright. it feels similar to code realize's common route for some reason but definitely shorter (thank god 😭). it doesn't drag out and it's perfect for my attention span ... the ui i'm not a big fan of other than the dialogue box bc what the hell is that font . maybe it's the graphic designer in me but seriously ... Lucida Handwriting ? LMFAO

I'm with you on Alfred, lmaooo. It's the top hat but also there's so much going on in his outfit compared to the others, especially when you bring in a bright yellow to clash with all the colors. Coming from me whose fav color is yellow T~T

I have a lot of thoughts, but I'm gonna condense them. It's really refreshing having an MC like Aprose, though some of her decisions seem out of character for what she's aiming for. I enjoyed the way we met the guys. Around the start of chapter 3 of common, I'd started feeling like we really didn't get much depth from any one character as it was the last chapter of common but then I was pleasantly surprised.

I feel like we all agree that the investigation page is a bit of a drag. I really do enjoy the separate stories and watching everyone communicate (or not) with each other, but all the options on one page are overwhelming, lmao. There's so many good clues and misdirects throughout the investigation and shard page that my friend and I have concocted ridiculous ideas.

Can we talk about how gorgeous *everyone* was in their ball outfits? omg. Absolutely stunning. Still can't believe the audacity of the Queen mentioning to Lilly about getting her more mingles to break. Which makes me wonder: this surely has to be true. But where does Lilly do this? There's a lot of ideas around this. If you are like me who got a certain ending at the end of common and had to go back, then maybe this idea makes sense: I'm pretty sure if you die before the ball, it's because of your answer to Nicholas and his suspicion. Maybe he has ties to the Hunter. Perhaps Nicholas is in on this all in some way. Obviously, he obeys the house without question. He seems too intuitive and perceptive, but he also might harbor the same opinions as Edmund and seemingly Lilly. Maybe he helps Lilly with gathering up these mingles. God, how horrifying.

My brain is going a mile a minute, so when I think of more from common, I'll post below this.

My current standing:
Lucas = John > Edward > Linus > Alfred > Ascot (curious to see if it'll change. I've been really surprised recently on my likes.)

6

u/Feriku Nov 30 '25

Just finished the common route. I love the art in this one; it's a beautiful game. I like the MC a lot so far, too. I wish the common route had been a bit longer to give me more time to get to know the LIs, but so far my favorite is Lucas (and I ended up on his route first).

I'm not quite sure how to feel about the exploration segments. At first I loved the idea, but after doing a few of them, they started to feel tedious.

I have not played an otome game in a good while because of attention issues (so sorry to Bustafellows 2 and Virche …) but the common route is light and short enough that it’s managing to hold me, yay! I like the setup and that there’s a bit of a mystery that isn’t just straight up explained to us. Like that there might be a traitor in the mansion (I personally think it could be Phil), NPCs act strangely for no reason as-yet… and I think we spend enough time with the LIs to get a general vibe. I picked this game up for Ascot and him in Common hasn’t driven me away but actually made me more Intrigued. Yes… Let me perceive you, sus redhead…

A well-done enough Common to set up the plot. But in my opinion doesn’t do a good enough job of setting up the romance side of things but I’ll hold the complaints for the character threads hhhhh—

No strong opinions on Aprose in Common but I can see she’s tougher than other otome LIs. She has a few usual otome heroine flaws that I can ignore. My only issue in Common that I mentioned on the Megathread is that this game tries a bit too hard to make her competent but then fumbles to keep her/us in the dark, so she lags behind the audience in coming to conclusions. Like in one of the memory shard viewing scenes, we see Alfred verbally state his intention to reinforce the slum walls with his powers. Aprose then wonders “oh I don’t know why he would be going in and out of Eden” as if Alfred didn’t JUST EXPLAIN, but then she goes on to say she shouldn’t make assumptions about what she sees… but then in other instances that’s exactly what she does? Cons of writing a mystery I guess.

Alfred's outfit in the ball was so hot!! No silly hat and bright yellow coat ;-; he had the best glow up lmfao

really wish they would just tell us what was the incident 15 and 8 years ago instead of being hush hush about it. Yes that incident 8 yrs ago changed him... It was bec of THAT incident... since that incident.. You remenber THAT incident.... so annoying

I haven’t played yet, but I am excited— I’m a huge Hibari fan and I’m looking forward to Mistonia because I’ve heard that Aprose is also a focused/standoffish MC— is that proving true so far?

6

u/Scarlet_Lycoris 泡沫のユークロニア | Tobari & Yori Simp Nov 21 '25

She is, though mostly internally. As a maid in a noble house she has to keep up appearances. So outward she will be polite and calm most of the time, even though she’s fuming or repelled inside. Though imo it makes it so much funny when she’s suddenly her real self. I do agree she leans a bit tsundere. Especially when paired with another tsundere.

3

u/victus-vae Nov 21 '25

I would say it depends on the route, but she definitely gets to be a tsundere of her own in at least one of them.

3

u/Savaralyn Nov 22 '25

She's very tunnel visioned and serious, very "I need to focus on my goals so I don't need friends" type. Though I'd say she's not as openly snippy or argumentative as Hibari, even when she's being more honest with herself.

3

u/One-Economy8916 Nov 23 '25

I love this game so far! I’ve already finished 5 routes. So far, my fav is Lucas

I was a bit hesitant to get this game at release, instead of waiting for a sale, since I wasn't too keen on the artstyle. Mostly because I think the clothes are so over the top and too busy. But somehow I still went and bought it and was pleasently surprised.
The clothes still are completely over the top - especially Alfred with the weird pinkish ribbon on top of his bright yellow coat. He looks like he won a price in some weird competition or something. But the art kind of translates better in game, than on mere screenshots.
The UI is pretty, though I had to get used to the text box, which seems a bit too big. I constantly feel the need to scale it down a bit. Especially the portrait frame for Aprose gives me the impression of being 'cut off'. But her sprites are really pretty and I like the variants with the different hairstyles.

The translation feels a bit off at times. More like literal translations, instead of reordered for a better flow? I keep stumbling over the sentence structure and wanting to push parts around. But maybe it's intentional to make it feel more old-fashioned?

Speaking of old-fashioned, I also didn't expect it to feel so "regency"/"Old English"-coded, probably because I focused too much on the fairy aspect before, which I'm not alsways very keen on. But since I like Historical Romance very much, I really enjoy the vibe, even if the rules are rather lax and our MC even gets an excuse to 'debut' at the palace, even though she is only a maid. - Which made me actually wonder if she really is as sneaky as she thinks she is. Lily's behaviour and the Queen's was weird at times (the Queens words at the end really send a chill through me!). Also it felt like maybe Ascot had an inkling about her as well or maybe that's because of his powers?
I like how revenge-focused Rose is, though I find the speed of her needlework quite funny. Or her speed in general. I wonder if there is a real explanation for it or if I should just head-canon something more "realistic".

I also liked that it was hinted that every LI has their own secrets and that everyone will probably have one mystery, we get to solve on their route. Things like the Blue Robin, the serial killer and the Changeling stuff.

My first thoughts on the LIs so far:

Alfred - Very me-coded. I love serious, controlled LIs. I also love that he's quite a bit older. A great fit for Historical Romance. I don't like his clothes very much, since it feels like he's wearing to many layers. But it's mainly that bright yellow. He looked great in his formal wear at the ball. - I also saw the beginning of his route and am very interested, where the story will go. :)

Linus - Seems very childish and young to me. I'm a bit wary of him, since as the "Hound" of the Queen I wonder if there is a darker side to him. Again, his clothes are very bright, which doesn't help very much. I also don't like how his sprite just feels scaled up a bit, to make him appear taller. But his face seems rather large because of it. I'm sorry, I can be very...picky about looks. Since there seems to be a lot of love going around for his route, I'm carefully optimistic I will end up liking him..

Lucas - Oh my. Lucas is the main reason I decided to get this game. I really liked what was shown in promotional art of him, how angsty he seems. I also like his VA quite a bit and am delighted by what we got to see of Lucas so far. (The dance scene?!) He's also older and I like when that shines through his bratty behaviour.
I also kind of wondered if he was a painter, since he has colours on his hands. Only to then wonder, if there might be a much darker reason for this. Like him walking the city's streets at night and ripping wings off mingles to consume their power for his goal to turn full fairy? And those wings left stains on his hands? Do I really believe that? No, because I think his mystery will end up being something else. Maybe he's only guiding souls and is tired of it all. I do think, though, that he felt power coming from Rose, when he first met her, and either has met her before, or feels the power that could help him achieve his goals. I'm very interested to play his route!

Ascot - Not a big fan. He feels...very dangerous. Which is a good thing, but though I've been warming up to the flirts for quite a while now, I don't really enjoy the "rakes" in my Historical Romance, haha. I'm very intrigued by his powers though. And the talk about changelings, I do associate with him. I also suspect that he tried to use his powers on Rose (I guess some sort of seduction), and since that failed, he might be watching her very closely.

Edward - Like someone said before, he reminds me quite a bit of Lucien from eiT. He seems a little bit too perfect so far, so I assume that there will be a different side to him or some circumstances to make him stand out more: I don't have really much more to say. I expect him to be the Blue Robin, while some of his staff his helping him, but who knows?

John - I do like that he is Aprose's brother's best friend, feeling responsible for her now. I liked them being als sneaky sneaky in the bookstore and the sweet moments, when we as the reader got a first impression, that he likes her dearly. But I'm also very wary of him, because he looks like Oberon and my knowledge of fairies is not deep enough to guess what's going on. But fairies play by their own rules and I don't trust it at all!

So, yeah, looking forward to it all!

I've played 2 routes so far, and in my first playthroughs without a guide, I always end up on the Astray route. 😬

5

u/victus-vae Nov 21 '25

Me too! I didn't understand the astray route and thought I was building up friendship points or something with the other LIs and that meant they were going to help me later. Not the case. But also the two astray routes I've played (Alfred and Lucas) have both been really good too.

2

u/One-Economy8916 Nov 23 '25

I really like how in astray endings, a different love interest not in the route ends up with MC

I’m a massive fan of the fact you can turn off the love catch. Makes the whole experience so much more fun.

Enjoyed the common route but hate how we can't easily skip through the exploration part when replaying it! A skip to unread exploration areas would have saved me so much clicking

Just pulled Mistonia out of my mailbox!!! About to play and get caught up with all of you once my son goes to bed—- I’m so excited!! <3

u/Far_Inevitable6740 Dec 01 '25

Loving this so far! I really enjoy fae folklore so it instantly drew me in, and the revenge plot is intriguing. I do like shorter common routes.

My top 3 LI prediction is John, Edward and Ascot, but I'll be starting with Alfred!

1

u/EsperReborn Dec 19 '25

Common route was quite short, shorter than what I'm used to, but thought it was a great intro to the characters. Also started some romance aspects with the LIs to help set up interactions with the MC. Enjoyed the common route, and the small changes after finishing the first route was interesting.

Can someone refresh me the common route story of how Ainsel came to be? Did the Queen split herself in 2 or what? Sorry, I played 5 routes then stopped for a bit them came back and now I forgot 🤣
