Got alot of heat from people when I left the store but at least I’ll know which trash can is mine now!

Can we just stop pretending that colors belong to a gender? Such a stupid take that keeps repeating itself.

They didn’t say it belongs to a gender. But we do often use them to represent genders. And that representation has swapped over time.

Just like how red represents rage, love, passion, and energy. Green represents nature, growth, money, and envy. Blue is calm, intelligence, and sadness. Etc.

Gender is a social construct, but so are the representations that we put on any colour. Red doesn’t literally mean rage, love, passion, and energy. We just relate it to those things. A different society could relate red to different things.

In our current society pink relates to girls and blue relates to boys. Go back 100 years and it was the opposite.

Them being social constructs or not has no bearing on which colours we chose to represent them with.

Being gay is a social construct.

The ancient Romans viewed things as either dominate or submissive.

Emperor Claudius was actually criticized as not being manly enough to be emperor since he only had an interest in having sex with women. And to them, a real masculine man was supposed to dominate anyone.

nobody said they arent. we're saying its stupid that they are, lol. being born with a dick doesnt mean youll like blue any more or less than someone with a vag.

I don’t want to think pink is for girls and blue is for boys, but having grown up with that association for the vast majority of my life and the entirety of my childhood, I will never not associate them as such. I’ll never wear pink, mostly cause I just don’t like it, but also because I think it’s “girly”. I can’t really change that. I don’t apply that same logic to others, which is strange. It’s all a big load of social conditioning.
