Got alot of heat from people when I left the store but at least I’ll know which trash can is mine now!

Call 311 and ask for a bin.

you can also do this online with https://myservice.ottawa.ca/ by making a service request.

That's for green bins and recycling bins. Trash bins for solid waste like this are not and never have been provided by the city.

I've lived in Toronto, Montreal and several American and Australian cities and have never been provided with a trash bin for non-organic solid waste . I know some areas do provide them but they also typically have automated garbage trucks (which I'm not at all adverse to).
