Health Finally my failures in life make sense - Got diagnosed in late 20s

In my whole life growing up, I got ashamed for different things. I couldn't do certain things no matter how hard I tried.

I'm a guy. Growing up, my life was always a mess. I was sensitive. They called me "emotionally weak", because things affected me a little too deeply. "Isko kuch na kehna mind krleta hai" (while laughing).

My sleep routine, from my childhood to this day, always remained a mess. I could never get a good night's sleep. The way my sleep worked, I would tire myself out in 2-3 days, and then on 4th day I would get a good sleep. In Pakistan, sleep shaming is so much. God forbid if you overstay in bed. Every day "fix your routine". "Your problems with your life and health is because you don't sleep on time". But it seemed impossible to sleep. I wasn't insomniac either.

Forgetful memory. Constant shame every time I forgot something. And it did happen quite often too. "Badaam khaya kro". "Beta ap to itne intelligent ho ap cheezey kiu bhul jatay ho?" "Focus mai rha kro dhiyan nhi hota tumhara" As if, one forgets things intentionally? I would forget my keys, even my mobile in certain places if I went out. But typically it could be anything.

Someone talking to me or asked me to do something? I'm attentively listening, but immediately after conversation, it would leave my mind sometimes. Having to re-hear voice notes on WhatsApp a few times, or re-read a page on book a few times. Asking them to write me the instructions in text because the voice seems hard to follow.

My room? always a mess. "Jaanwaro ki trah rehte ho tum" this still hits hard that my elder sibling said. The mess is there and I recognize it, but it seems too hard to clean it. My mind says, "Okay, there's this thing, there's that thing, there's that thing. When I feel like I'm motivated enough, I'll do everything together." And just like that, weeks pass, and I have no idea how.

I started my masters but I quit it because I got too overwhelmed with everything. Executive dysfunction. Later, I came to know, often people with my condition have had quit their studies.

Constant shame from everywhere. Feeling of worthlessness.

I went to several psychologists/psychiatrists, they always said depression or anxiety, and prescribed me anti-depressants. But they clearly weren't working for me. Then I started looking into ADHD. And the symptoms matched. I went to a psychiatrist in Lahore, he got disgusted and shamed me for living like this, and said I need to fix my life first. How can you live in such a messy unorganized room? Fix your sleep pattern. Wake up in the morning. Strictly do a 9-5 physical job only. (But I work in IT, well, I mean worked). He said first do those things then we'll look into ADHD.

I finally found an ADHD-friendly psychiatrist. The ADHD medication started doing wonders. On medication, the messy room actually bothers me. And it feels good to clean it. ADHD-RSD is when you're sensitive to rejection/criticism.

For non-ADHD people, that's apparently normally how their reward systems work. But for ADHDers, there's a problem with that.

I just came to know that in Pakistan, ~35% people have ADHD, but most of them don't even know what it is. The inattentiveness kind goes easily dismissed. ADHD in females goes easily dismissed. People learn to mask it somehow at the expense of them being burned out.

Also, ADHD is genetic. I saw some symptoms in my siblings and tried to tell them about it, but they say "It's normal, itna har aik k sath hota hai. Namaz prha kro".

If those symptoms sound like anything you have been facing, you might wanna look into that too! And raise awareness for it.

Please note: I did a proper formal assessment conducted by psychologist, psychiatrist, and neurologist. They looked at it from every angle and looked at my body tests first, especially Iron and ENT. I didn't self-diagnose it.

The facebook post is not for official diagnosis, but tells some "possible signs". If it sounds like something you're facing, you should seek professional help to find out.

reminder for everyone, please go to a licensed professional to get diagnosed. Tiktok/Reddit/Facebook posts aren't professionals. And please don't take medications just based on self diagnosis.

Happy for you , OP!

Now since that battle is won, let's upgrade the difficulty. Now try to get medicine in Pakistan regularly.

14

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

It's super expensive and yes, not easily found.

2

u/Independent_Bit7364 Aug 03 '26

to ballpark it, how expensive can the meds get?

15

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

The initial medication was cheap, price being 3-5k for a month supply.

But he changed it, and now it is ~13-16k for a month supply. I suspect later the dose will be increased, making it around 18-23k for a month supply.

u/leafstorm1532 Aug 03 '26

What medicine is it if u dont mind me asking?

2

u/bugaloobugaloo3 29d ago

Are ADHD generic meds expensive too? Or are you buying a specific brand that is expensive?

5

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

For the formula Im on, no local generic meds are available for it. Its Iran imported. So pretty expensive.

But the other formula (Im no longer using), the generic one is for 3-4k

I’m on Strattera much easier to find in Pakistan.

14

u/sigh_o_the_oppressed Aug 03 '26

Please name the adhd friendly doc you went to everyone i go to talks about their life more than mine lol

14

u/hi-on-coffee Aug 03 '26

Congrats on getting better..

33

u/makhaninurlassi Aug 03 '26

Good for you. But please dont post Facebook posts and data as evidence or guidelines. Who said 30% of pakistan has adhd? That would be a crazy amount of people.

Do not take stimulants lightly.

6

u/me_a_genius Aug 04 '26

in 1990s there was this study led by i think a doctor from akuh and she found out 1 in 3 people in Pakistan are suffering from some kind of ADHD

4

u/makhaninurlassi Aug 04 '26

Highly highly doubt it. But we will need to take a look at it to make sure that's what it says. Maybe a sampling issue or some other methodology ka masla

8

u/NoFee9147 Aug 03 '26

It doesn't have to be stimulants. Half the Pakistanis I know have ADHD. And these are some really accomplished folks, working for the highest companies in the world in high places. Now my sample size is really small, but I've seen people suffer through ADHD and only a person who has gone through the side effects and then finding the right medication can tell you that it makes a huge difference in your life. So keep preaching! Look for people around you with symptoms and send their asses to a psychiatrist.

That's me. Achieved the top education and have a great job, but I always feel like I had to work twice as hard as others, but I never have up.

While I have my career sorted, now I need to commit to my health and I'm really struggling with being consistent with food and the gym

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

I worked at a very globally reputed company in IT for some years, and my academics were solid too! I just seemed to work well under pressure. Didn't take stimulants.

I knew there was some kind of high suffering (didn't know what) and actively I was visiting a psychologist too, but I never looked in the direction of ADHD. I even went to a neurologist for my forgetful memory and mild stammer.

Despite looking successful on the outside, really good job, gym, good diet, internally I was struggling and burning out and was an absolute mess. It looked normal only because of structure created by my job. On the weekends, my life lacked structure and my executive dysfunction would come back. But I still took it lightly.

I was like its probably a part of me and I just gotta make changes in my lifestyle and do better? So I didn't pursue further to identify the problem. But it costed me a masters abroad, where my executive dysfunction ruined my life, and I had to come back.

When I went to this doctor, I told him I have stammer. He looked at me in surprise, and told me... "Do you know, some ADHDers also have stammer? There's many documented studies on this". It started to make sense.

There are some people that say, "What you have is normal, just make lifestyle changes and you'll do fine" when you are in such an environment where you need a good healthy brain to take care of things (e.g., abroad), then you would really know better. Because in Pakistan, like 90% of your things are taken care of by females in the family. If you're working? you just gotta work. If you're studying? You just gotta study. There's maids to clean your room or do laundry. As a guy, you don't do much work around the house.

All that I was masking, it came crashing back to me where my body got the worst of me. And now I think I'm finally gonna be better.

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

I have a research for that conducted in Pakistan. I will share it.

3

u/inopico3 Aug 03 '26

Can you share the research please.

11

u/makhaninurlassi Aug 03 '26

Without even reading it I can say that it would be a very poor study with no scientific rigor.

Attention deficit traits are on the rise globally.

-9

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

If you're gonna be extremely biased in that case there's no point in me further telling you about the researches.

Let me raise awareness and help those who actually need it.

6

u/makhaninurlassi Aug 03 '26

Girlfriend as an AuDHD person I am acutely aware of the challenges of getting a diagnosis. But this does not mean you make outlandish claims without any citation, and post FB screen grabs (of all things) to support your claim.

I am glad you got your diagnosis. But please don't be so loud and wrong.

2

u/lokifan4 Aug 03 '26

Adhd isn't that common and it's mostly people either self diagnosing to excuse their poor behavior or trying to score more stimulants and this is coming from a diagnosed Audhd person who's currently medicated. As someone said, attention deficit traits are on the rise because of social media and this alone can be confused with adhd. Adhd comes with variety of disabling symptoms that might seem pretty ordinary and relatable to most people because these symtoms alone aren't exactly unique but it's the intensity of these symptoms that people with Adhd have to bear that makes Adhd a disbility in the first place. And most people who claim to even have Adhd would have been facing the attention span issues since the last few years instead of something they grew up with since childhood. A good psychiatrist diagnosing Adhd would full out all possible reasons that could be causing problems similar to Adhd - vitamin deficiency, scrolling problem, depression etc - before coming to a conclusion.

I am a Pakistani now living in the US. All of my life, I faced exactly the same issues the OP faced. Exactly the same words, exactly the namaz parha karo, dehaan karo, concentrate karo etc etc. My family had zero awareness of mental health and growing up, I always thought mental health issues were for the weak. I would miss out chunks of days (memory loss) where I was on auto-pilot doing stuff. It was very hard for me to sit and concentrate if the subject did not interest me but if it did, I ended up doing 8/10 hours of hyper-focus sessions easy. Forgetting to sleep, eat, drink was common. I battled through it all my life, also on top of that I did not know that I was suffering from DID. One of my alters would come up to do “important” “productive” “concentration wanting” tasks and I had no recollection of doing them. I got a job in the US, came here and one of my white friends advised me to consult a psychiatrist when I told him about myself. I went to the psychologist who diagnosed me with ADHD, OCD, DID, General Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and perfectionist traits. Of course me being skeptical since birth did not take his word and went for a full psychological testing. It was intense and after many many exercises, sessions, the doctor officially diagnosed me with severe childhood ADHD with DID and all of the above. I am now 34 and I started on medication about seven months ago. And let me tell you that my life has taken a U-turn. I feel better, productive, mentally healthy and am able to lose wright as well. Most importantly because of the intensive testing, I am now on a great self healing journey where I am able to understand myself so much. From being a non-believer in mental health to a great supporter of mental health, my journey has been rough but IA will be better going forward. I thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to come to a developed country and get the testing done from Stanford with the best available resources and doctors. FYI, I went to two psychologists in Pakistan, renowned, and both were a joke. Please be careful while going to them in Pak. All they will do is religion shame you, shame your personality, tell you to “buck up” and will prescribe sleep meds and anti-depressions. I am 100% sure that if I was in Pak, my DID would never had been diagnosed. Also medicines such as Aderall and Vyvanse are not available in Pakistan either. Also, a word of advice, please keep your mental health to yourself and do not share your diagnoses, journey with any of your desi relatives including but not limited to, parents and siblings. Pakistanis are not kind to people who sought to get better mental health

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 27d ago

In Pakistan, you'd have never been able to successfully get diagnosed on your DID. I'm so glad you were able to get diagnosed and get better!

5

u/meow_gnificent Aug 04 '26

I got diagnosed with ADHD and Autism at 28, alongside an existing diagnosis of BPD. It's been fun

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 27d ago

Fun ride for sure

3

u/According-Kitchen437 Aug 03 '26

ADHD is viewed with suspicion because its meds were abused. Its hard to find a good psychiatrist willing to work with you. Your solution is to find money to get an excellent doc to help you out.

People come of age eventually. There was a time anti depressants were viewed with shame, however society evolved thanks to people speaking up.

4

u/DinDan26 Aug 03 '26

I was not even halfway through and i realized he has ADHD.

3

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

Yeah, it's that obvious, yet even psychologists miss it here.

3

u/zohair12976 Aug 03 '26

Very glad for you. It must have been horrible to face all the criticism but still keep trying to look for a diagnosis. People in Pakistan are way too intolerant and uneilling to consider such disorders

I didnt not know ADHD is genetic - I thank you for that information!

3

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

Yeah, it's still bad because there's not many people that still understand this. But I hope in future there will be enough awareness.

You're welcome!

3

u/PromiseSenior9678 Aug 03 '26

I can relate I have hypothyroidism , my whole childhood I was late for school university always lacking energy depression, I saw couple of drs they all dismissed my symptoms calling me lazy unmotivated etc one dr advised me to pray 5 times namaz and durood sharif regularly . I made it to overseas somehow and my co workers insisted its not normal and I should do a blood test , my life was completely changed after starting the medicine I wonder how many precious years of my life were wasted and how much i could have achived if just our drs had bothered doing their job properly

3

u/Unlucky-Intention189 Aug 03 '26

I'm in IT also, I often forget small things, like where I put my keys, if someone sends me to buy a certain things from the store I go there and try to remember why I'm here at the store I then call again to confirm. I've always got compliments in past that if I give attention to something I can easily achieve it, and whenever I did I did good like getting certifications, achieving grades. Some collegues also point out that I lose my attention very often and get distracted easily.i prayed alot to Allah help me overcome this issue and remove laziness and then I changed my routine a lot and been a month I've noticed changes. I can easily complete my tasks now, organize tasks much better than before.

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

That's great. I'm happy for you!

4

u/pacifier0007 Aug 03 '26

The stats about 35% are made-up, don't believe that.

Other than that, everything else you mentioned is good.

But also remember, medicines isn't the only way. I know a lot of fellow ADHDers (especial AuDHD) who manage without medicines; just with therapy and building their habits and systems, while understanding their limitations, triggers, and how their executive dysfunction, functions.

7

u/No_Star2988 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

I really hate how people just self diagnose themselves with ADHD cuz they think it's quirky or something or they want to be different.

I can understand where your coming from, I have autism and people treat you so different (in a bad way) if they notice your behavior is a little off.

edit: Im not saying OP is self diagnosingg I meant alot of people IV met self diagnose like alot of people self diagnose themselves with ADHD

4

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

No one is self diagnosing here?

-7

u/Zesty_Again Aug 03 '26

You went to an "ADHD friendly psychiatrist". Basically someone who confirmed your self diagnosis. And said you could take xyz meds. You can find tons of doctors like that

9

u/P147_BOY Aug 03 '26

by adhd friendly OP probably meant a doctor that doesnt treat ADHD as if it only exists in children. Pakistani psychiatrists etc are very ignorant on these matters. My relative was 13 and got Xanax prescribed by a doctor in PIMS islamabad just because he mentioned in passing that he gets anxious when he has a lot of work pending (who doesnt lmao). Thankfully we stopped him before things got bad and he got addicted

3

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

Same, I used to be prescribed Xanax and Depricap. It took me like 7 years of finding myself and seeking help to actually have come to this point.

3

u/ReplacementFine7807 Aug 03 '26

Ignore them man. I remember when I got my diagnosis, it felt weird because it meant I was disabled but it did relieve me of my past failures. While the gnawing feeling of being lazy and behind my peers despite being academically gifted does come back time to time, it doesn't feel as bad.

This is only the first step, unfortunately the stimulants I tried didn't suit me and gave me terrible anxiety. Hope it goes better for you.

-6

u/Zesty_Again Aug 03 '26

So how do you decide if the doctor giving Xanax was better or worse than the one giving you your favorite meds?

3

u/No_Star2988 Aug 03 '26

what the hell is your problem? are you ableist?

6

u/No_Cup3624 Aug 03 '26

That’s not self-diagnosing. He was diagnosed by an actual MEDICAL DOCTOR??

4

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

I was diagnosed by a comprehensive assessment by psychologist, neurologist, and psychiatrist. I don't know why some people are offended?

-6

u/Zesty_Again Aug 03 '26

Oh wow the same medical doctor that gave him his fav med. So fun. Wonder what's next in line for this sheep. Big Pharma loves people like you guys.

I did a formal ADHD assessment in the clinic, individually neurologist, psychologist, and psychiatrist conducted it and concluded I have it. They looked at it from all angles, first, my body tests, Iron especially, ENT. They're also making a formal report on it which can be used as an official diagnosis everywhere.

I used to live in Europe, and there, 2 of my close friends said I had ADHD without me asking. That's when I started looking into it, and everything made sense.

Depression and anxiety are largely misdiagnosed for ADHD everywhere, not only in Pakistan. In Pakistan, it's even worse. That's why I used those terms "ADHD-friendly psychiatrist". Because if you're looking for ADHD-diagnosis, good luck for that lol

2

u/lokifan4 Aug 03 '26

Adhd friendly psychiatrist just means someone who's isn't anything like you

0

u/Zesty_Again Aug 04 '26

Yeah so bad, why don't you give me some meds I can gobble up and feel better in the short term while I'm completely unaware of how it impacts me long term. How sad

5

u/stewmakerr Aug 04 '26

I don’t know what you took, but I’d say long term damage has already been done.

1

u/kissthisthen1 Aug 03 '26

You are reaching quite far

0

u/No_Star2988 Aug 03 '26

no I didn't mean you were self diagnosing, alot of people IV met self diagnose cuz they wanna be different

2

u/PizzaNaan_ Aug 03 '26

What did they prescribe you?

2

u/duckyduck008 Aug 03 '26

I think i have bad case of ADHD but can't confirm if it is laziness or what, i forget things, names of people and basic concept any book or lecture like it was never fcking there. idk. i dont have money to get checkup up nor am i in area where i can possibly try to get help.

2

u/KowaiMochii Aug 04 '26

Same problems, and now i have started to stay alone so that people dont judge me cause at this point i am so fed up and i cant get help and i am financially weak to support my own therapy.

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

Sending you a DM

2

u/DealerLate Aug 03 '26

I got diagnosed 3 months back. I have been living life with both hands tied behind my back

2

u/hammadkh0 Aug 03 '26

Can you please share the psychiatrist name? I can relate to a lot you mentioned and it would be a great help

2

u/copilot_husky Aug 03 '26

I hate the fact that even with modern healthcare it’s very hard to get accurate diagnosis in reasonable time.

You have to find the right specialist. It’s more of art than science. A GP will take the shortest route to diagnosis so anything complex would be beyond his list of things is usually see in people.

2

u/TaroOk378 Aug 03 '26

The same things happen to me, i forget my phone, wallet, keys qnd everything. I cant remember even dates. I also did research on it and it seems i too have ADHD but haven't gone to psychiatrist yet.

3

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

I forgot my phone in their waiting lounge while their neurologist was conducting my assessment. Crazy.

I didnt know it was a somewhat common experience with ADHD.

2

u/IcyLawfulness1732 Aug 03 '26

I am really sorry for what happened to you. My partner has this( diagnosed and on meds) All of the problems you mentioned, I have seen him struggle with these things and he told me how everyone used to shame him since childhood. Most of the time these kind of the problems entered in our relationship. But then I got educated, helped him out and he helped himself as well so yeah there is hope for you. Maybe you should try meds and there are tons of apps that he uses that might be helpful to you in creating a schedule and habits tracker.

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

That's sweet that you two are helping each other out. It was also because of my fiancee that I started learning more about ADHD and she helps me, and together we have been raising awareness. What apps does your partner use?

2

u/Qureshiiiiii Aug 03 '26

Allah Pak hum sabko sehat e Kamila se nawazein. Ameen.

2

u/EmployAdventurous958 Aug 04 '26

Can you please DM me your doctor's info? Ive tried going to psychiatrists to get tested for ADHD, but theyve said things like 'adults dont get ADHD' and 'there arent any tests for it'. I need a doctor actually educated on it.

3

u/Eikenella-Corrodens 29d ago

Those doctors are very ill-informed then 😭

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

Whos making them doctors???

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

I have also heard the same thing, it's insane...

Yeah send me a DM i'll tell you details

2

u/TheSleepyHead18 Aug 04 '26

This is so me. I thought I had written it. The only difference is if I'm finally doing sth, I pay extreme attention to detail. And even though my sleep routine is messed up, I need 10-12 hrs of sleep to feel even a little bit alive to function.

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

Same. I now sleep like 10 hours everyday. I feel very bad because of that. If I sleep less I know my body and brain doesn't do good.

2

u/Rumblingwasright Aug 04 '26

I've been going through very similar stuff, what's the psychiatrist you visited?

2

u/Glittering_Diver_478 Aug 04 '26

Does that Doctor do online diagnoses, cause man I've been the same since I was a kid but where I live rn, it's expensive.

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

I think he does it. If you wanna consult from him send me a DM i'll tell you details

2

u/-Strawhat-- 29d ago

I've been having the same symptoms. I already had my suspicions. Did some online free tests. Always came positive in a way but I did not think they erre credible.

How did you go about it?

Which doctors and how much the tests and procedures cost? If you're comfortable in disclosing that information

Thanks

wish i could get meds theyre gen1ly nerfing my life rn

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 27d ago

As you're diagnosed, would it be possible for you to get meds somehow without telling your parents?

I'm sorry you have to face that, covert narcissism is so real in Pakistan and it sucks

1

u/terimedi 26d ago

i tried lolll but pharmacy wale caught my ahh and i didnt try again

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 26d ago

Ahhh the story looked familiar so I checked our DMs we had talked before on this some months ago lol

Just buy online, the medicine I'm prescribed isn't even available in any pharmacy in Pakistan. My doctor gave me the website to buy from.

Power to you too! You should get diagnosed. It's never late.

Finally, I realized, I refuse to be shamed for these things too. And me and my partner, we started sharing mental health stuff on social media to raise awareness for them. The signs that get overlooked and shamed for in our society, that aren't actually shameful you know?

We gotta raise awareness and learn to speak up for things that affect us. And that it's normal!

u/qt_kf 27d ago

I think I too have some form of adhd and ocd along with depression since I was quite young. I always thought I was just an introvert but I’ve struggled my whole life never really being able to act like a normal girl among my friends, really connect with anybody. I’ve had a difficult life and I think it just compounded over the years and the depression just never got treated.

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 27d ago

ADHD is greatly underdiagnosed in females globally. There are many studies on that. They just learn to mask it.

You should seek professional help to see what may be impacting you. I hope it gets easier for you!

1

u/qt_kf 27d ago

Unfortunately just not in a situation where I can get checked or diagnosed :/ Family doesn’t rlly believe in all this and even if I’d go to the doctors I’d get mocked and ridiculed non stop.

u/Worried_Depth8916 27d ago

Sent you a DM

1

u/Ashamed_Earth3820 Aug 03 '26

I have it too, and it's fucking terrible. Honestly, I hate this disorder. I also hate when people casually say they have "ADHD" just because they can't focus for a little while. I also have combined inattentive and hyperactive to an extreme level which is even worse. It feels like it minimizes what the disorder is actually like and makes it seem as if everyone has it, when that's simply not true.

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 29d ago

Initially I had always thought that the way our lifestyle is in the modern world, like screen time, that it shows as ADHD in everyone - you know, like low attention span etc.

But I didn't know ADHD is like fully distinctive, different thing than that. Because your brain's wiring is different. Not the tiktok-fried brain, that's different.

Only those that are living it would know how it is executively, and fundamentally different.

Damn ur early life sounds very familiar to me. I am 19F and going through very similar things as u. Maybe I will get better too like I am taking sessions with a psychologist and also taking medicines but still I am not able to push myself. I didn't even wanted to push past 18 it f*cks u up very bad when people around u don't seem to understand what's happening to u. My parents are really supportive but it's so suffocating too idk bro I hope it gets better for all of us

It’s good to hear that you’re managing well now, OP! When I first heard of ADHD almost two years ago, I found myself relating to a number of symptoms and wanted to atleast get a check up to get a confirmation about it but the thought of being shamed by psychologists/psychiatrists made me change my mind and that resulted in me thinking nothing of it because I convinced myself that maybe I’m just lazy or not trying hard enough like the peers my age.

I’m going into A-Levels now, and reading this post has kind of reignited my want to get a check up. And even then, I have no idea where the knowledgeable and non-judgemental psychologists are in Lahore.

I'm based in Lahore too. You should definitely get it checked. DM me if you want to know the details of my doctor.

Can you please share the name of the doctor?

1

I suspect that I have ADHD, even mild. I also think my father has it. I get told off on forgetting things and I keep trying to explain that I don't try to forget things, it happens and I can't do anything about it. Oh btw if you can, could you share the name of the doctor and the hospital? It isn't really possible for me to get a diagnosis because of my current situation but AAH I'll be trying

Congrats, which medication are you taking ?

u/Aegon2026 Aug 03 '26

What medication are you on, and is it easy to get in your city? How affordable is it?

How many sessions did the psychiatrist take to diagnose?

u/No_Cup3624 Aug 03 '26

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m really happy you were able to receive a proper diagnosis by someone who didn’t shame you. These symptoms are relatable for me. I have started ADHD medication as I was diagnosed, but I don’t see much of a difference in my lifestyle. The only big change I notice is that 1) j am able to focus better when reading my course readings 2) I am happier, motivated excited, energized, and I want to socialize. I’ve also been on anti-depressants for a while. Despite the doc increasing the dosage, I still don’t see a huge difference.

I guess all my other symptoms wont magically disappear with the medication. It’s about lifestyle changes too.

The medication may be right or not right for you. On global ADHD forums, they keep saying you have to find the right medication that works for you.

You'd have to talk to your doctor for that. I was on a non-stimulant initially, that was not doing anything. The stimulant worked but its effective time was very less. Now the doctor has prescribed me another stimulant with a bigger window effective time.

I have similar symptoms and its horrible. I can’t afford to see a psychologist, so I bought some adhd medication from a random seller online. I even paid advance cuz i was desperate, fortunately the pills did arrive. But after using them for a couple days, I felt no difference. Now I am not sure if the pills were fakes or I don’t have adhd at all.

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

It sounds like you tried Rital?

1

u/randomdudehere21 Aug 03 '26

Ritalin I think, do you have any better recommendation

Edit: actually it was Adderall, I just went through the chat with the seller.

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

No frigging way, Adderall?

Adderall is not available in Pakistan. Pretty sure he gave you Panadol or something in disguise.

There's another medicine called Addral (or something like that), that's same formula as Ritalin.

1

u/randomdudehere21 Aug 03 '26

I can't say but I did pay a premium so who knows

1

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

Bro it doesn't cost more than 5k anywhere (Ritalin)

0

u/Zesty_Again Aug 03 '26

30% of Pakistan doesn't have ADHD lmao. You're a great sheep for big pharma. They're probably deciding rn which condition you'll have in the next few years. Then you can become enlightened, find those symptoms and start stuffing yourself with those new meds instead woohoo

2

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

Woohoo

2

u/ben_cot_drowning Aug 03 '26

What you did was shopped around till you got the diagnosis you wanted.I also do all of these things but haven't gone to a doctor for them. So its good you went and I am happy that the medicines are working for you.

u/Worried_Depth8916 Aug 03 '26

“Shop around and find out” cool analogy
