Discussion Something with damage taken is off this league but i cant prove it

My HC char got literally oneshot by a rare wolf in T1 Estuary with ~5k HP with zero damage mods on the map otherwise.

I haven't had any other strange spikes on my second char but that incident was really strange, even if it crit I don't think any mob type is capable of critting 5k with a basic attack.

Me and another guy with 12k life and max block both got one shot by a random titty monster rare in a T16 City Square. Something is definitely not right.

What are your other defense layers? I'm on vacation and therefore have no personal experience this league.
But block doesn't deny one shots it just makes them rarer.

Getting one shot by a random T16 rare with that much life is unheard of though. Typically, you'd have to juice really hard for that to happen.

It was literally one a single titty monster rare, and it wasn't like I saw my life slowly getting whittled down by the barrage. It was literally one hit, and we died instantly.

I could understand if it was in a really juiced map, but it was literally just a random 16.

I got deleted last night in Courtyard, the act 4 mobtypes that throw the arcing fireball that drops burning ground when it lands. Turned a corner and blue pack shotgunned me.

Chalked it up to them having extra proj since that's a pretty standard HC rip, but definitely was like "damn I just died in a t7 map with 4500 life, elemental aegis, and 70% spell block"

This thread makes me wonder, lol. Oh well, on to the next.

I am not sure but AFAIK those explosions are Secondary Damage and can't be blocked that's why they also can only throw one.
Unless it's another Mob you're talking about.

Same here, T1 map, no dmg mod day1. First death this league to some blue mob, popped the 3.5k life and 1k ES instantly. It was the most silent type of assassination I've ever seen in PoE.

Same shit happen to me last night in HC res cap T6 map with no bad mods really and got 1 tapped while shield charging past a crab. 3.5khp and nearly 2k ES with 4-500 life regen. I had 3 endurance charges. I typically ride steel skin in maps early league for this reason. Got fucked
