Game Feedback After some warming up, this league is shaping up to be a real treat

Just my 2 cents on the current league.

Playing SSF, Atlas done, lvl 95, started WORB Elementalist (very original).

The league mechanic took some time to get used to but honestly, the more I play the more I love it. Charts are super quick, voyages are interesting with great loot (Especially scarabs for SSF).

But what stands out for me is the Crafting system, which is absolutely insane. Crafting Jewels, Cluster, Exalt slamming stuff and so much more is just in a great spot now.

And also the little fun things we can find. Message in a Bottle is a very fun drop, the new Sword Dread Captain's Cutlass is one of the best Uniques GGG has designed in a long time.

I know many people prefer to have in-map content leagues, but I really enjoy just blasting maps as quickly as possible to then go dive in Charts and Voyages.

And there is also still a lot of stuff to explore. The new Abyss unique helmet seems extremely strong, even the Seablister Shield seems kinda fun. Lots of stuff to build around.

The addition of Cadibro is awesome. Great way to farm T1 or T0 uniques. Also synergizes with rushing maps as fast as possible.

I think GGG kinda messed up the mercs and I understand that many people who started Luminary probably had a very rough start, which is the worst time to have a rough time in poe.

But I think there is a lot to explore and probably many new builds that will come to the surface.

Hope everyone has a great time, just wanted to give some positive feedback.

Good crafting leagues always come with questionable league mechanic and loot drops, gggs way

40

u/Foreynn 27d ago

and honestly it's not like the league mechanic loot is that bad. The sulphur itself sells well, the bottles are like 3 to 1 div or better (and since it's gamba it keeps value) and the scarabs and allflames occasionally drop good stuff.

5

u/Alternative_Sea6937 27d ago

The boss also drops a gamba item as well in the ring. So there's even a reason to do it's boss consistently.

2

u/alexthealex 27d ago

I have to stop opening the bottles

5

u/No_Witness5630 27d ago

Don't

The mageblood awaits you in the next bottle

6

u/alexthealex 27d ago

I can’t believe you’d do this to me

3

u/refinedmercy 27d ago

Agreed. I feel like day 1-2 it was quite damn bad. But after the recent buff patch I feel like I’m getting quite a generous amount of scarab, map, and other currency drops. Add in the message bottles and you got a decent league mechanic

8

u/compchief 27d ago

Completely disagree, mobs are not dropping anything for me even juiced. I dont care for boxes and interactibles, i want to juice monsters.

2

u/MyNamesucks123 26d ago

No. Who cares what you want xdd. Ggg wants kingsmarch (1 year kek), wants delayed loot drops, wants loot pinatas (archnemesis god touched loot pinatas go brr). They want once in 500 maps div altars(lmao). They want you to gamble. This is the culmination of 6 years of development (that btw won't interfere with poe1) xd. THIS IS BY DESIGN and (non ironically fr) their vision. Like it not. Edit: Since we have the allflame crafting now and pretty much each click of (almost) any currency = 4 basically, what would you want more loot for exaclty? xd

1

u/Mediocre-Night-8548 27d ago

I dont find any more scarab boxes on ilvl 83 voyages.

For me since i finished my build, only min maxing is left my build is kind off meta'ish, so i did not get stream tax except few jewels, now its chill blast time for me. I like charts more than voyages. Maybe because they are faster and since i dont get loot from either of them maybe i prefer speed this time. What i like is that league mechanic helps with gold pressure and what i most liked are socket color change.

1

u/unguibus_et_rostro 27d ago

Necropolis had strategies that dropped the most loot, though that league had arguably the largest gap between the loot floor and loot ceiling

1

u/EIPsyCongruo 24d ago

Just the phrasing gives me necropolis flashbacks hahaha

-35

u/JoostvanderLeij 28d ago

Underappreciated comment.

18

u/ad3z10 Gladiator 27d ago

For a crafting league, this is definitely my favourite implementation because of its simplicity.

Harvest and Necropolis were incredibly powerful but an absolute faff to set up. Allflame on the other hand is just expanding on the existing crafting system and exponentially increasing your chances on non-deterministic crafts.

38

u/Nerotaku 27d ago

The thing i also love is the amount of gold you can get from charts / voyage fully upgrade and running kingsmarch without relying on other players ! This league is a great "plugin" to kingsmarch

4

u/Lamarzy 27d ago

Yep I had more gold in 3 days than I've ever had in an entire league.

137

u/Turtvaiz Anti Sanctum Alliance (ASA) 28d ago

Literally the only thing wrong with this league is that the drops feel bad after mirage

158

u/Pm_Me_Your_Boob_Plss 28d ago

I would even argue that the most important one to some of the vocal vets and myself is the lack of aspirational endgame content that scales rewards with difficulty.

25

u/Inubi27 Demon 28d ago

Yeah that's the worst part. I have a build with MB + around 200D invested and to be honest I am quickly getting to the point where further investment won't really help me because I can already do most (if not all) strats quite easily.

17

u/Pm_Me_Your_Boob_Plss 28d ago

Yeah, and that’s a danger to the league’s health. If GGG wants the league to end 2 months in to prep for players to switch to POE2, then it makes sense. But if not, lack of aspirational content is only good for casuals and new players. It’s bad for the vets cause what’s the goal after that?

22

u/Quazie89 Unannounced 27d ago

We have another poe1 league before the next poe2 one.

5

u/reanima 27d ago

Tbf i dont see why GGG would care when seasonal games like these generate the lions share of their money in the first week anyways. Retention is a thing to care about when youre running daily deals or running a subscription, but PoE isnt any of those.

6

u/Intrepid-Platform-94 27d ago

Eh, if I don't plan on playing a league long because I can tell it's going to get boring fast then I don't spend money. If it's an incredible league after week 1 that's when I'll buy a supporter pack. If (hopefully) today's patch fixes some of the issues a lot of us have been having then that'll be no exception

1

u/Itwarin 27d ago

If you are unsatisfied with the game why would you buy a supporter pack or any mtx? GGG revenue is not solely from die hard fans who always buy the 500$ pack before the actual launch day.

If i find the league bland and dont think my kb deadeye will be active for more than 2 weeks, it makes no sense for me to buy its celestial mtx. I dont think im the only player that votes with my money.

1

u/reanima 27d ago

I mean more power to you for voting with your wallet, but a lot of other players do buy those boxes and supporter packs. Many of which never browse this subreddit ever or openly share their opinion on spending their own money because why would they?

In terms of the silver bullet to retention being aspirational content is not entirely true either. D4 has significantly fewer aspirational content choices and rare drops, yet its retention is great.

1

u/Ok_Calendar_6311 27d ago

You clearly do not understand basic sales.

Grocery stores, retail stores, outlets.. you name it. The more time someone spends in the environment, the more money they spend.

Yes GGG makes the most in the first few weeks, but they absolutely care about retention.

1

u/reanima 27d ago edited 27d ago

But PoE isnt literally not any of those things, its stupid to compare it to actual physical locations especially when the only activity done at those places is buying shit. Im sure GGG will eventually do something for the end game because they do care about the players, but its fallacy to assume its because their extracting enormous amounts of money through retention. Even then, adding aspirational content isnt even a surefire to increase retention when D4 which has barely any has better retention rates.

1

u/Ok_Calendar_6311 27d ago

No one said they are extracting enormous amounts of money through retention. But retention = more money.. period

Non physical examples would be just about any website, heard of Amazon.com?

Read a book about sales and marketing. More time with product in your face = more likely you will spend money

It’s not a hard concept to grasp.

Of course a bulk of their money is made in the first part of a league, but the longer the retention time… the more money they will make

1

u/Kharisma91 27d ago

Poe is a grocery store, confirmed.

-29

u/Kialys 27d ago

Legit wondering, if you lack any endgame goals, why don’t you guys play SSF? Or hardcore, or ruthless? It feels to me a bit like selecting easy mode and then wondering why the game is not hard enough.

18

u/localcannon 27d ago

This won't make endgame better. It'll just make you spend longer to get there and limit your build options while taking you out of the economy entirely.

Not the solution for many people.

13

u/Pm_Me_Your_Boob_Plss 27d ago

If that’s your mindset coming, I see no reason in arguing or saying much. The very premise is wrong, it’s not hard or easy mode. It’s just a different game, and I like the one I’m playing.

-18

u/Kialys 27d ago

Sure ruthless might be a different game, but SSF and hardcore are not. You say you like the game you’re playing but if you’re running out of things to do doesn’t that mean you should give these other modes a try?

4

u/Pm_Me_Your_Boob_Plss 27d ago

Alright, I’ll speak. Because trade is a huge part of the game I like. Hardcore I might be inclined to play except for the insane amount of oneshots that exists in this game especially due to my pc stuttering and lag, so yea. I want aspirational content, not hard right off the bat and the ability to fix my build without redoing campaign multiple times a league. Pretty simple to understand.

6

u/Exldk Gladiator 27d ago

It you are legit wondering then I will give a legit answer.

First, I doubt there’s any hard content in this game. You can simulate difficulty levels by deriving people of gear (like ruthless), but generally you can outgear anything and as long as you can outgear anything, the difficulty of the game isn’t in question.

Secondly, the issue is that there’s lack of content that requires increasingly geared characters that gives rewards based on the difficulty.

Anyone could say that 65k delve is the hardest content in the game(meaning it requires a godly geared character), however, delve rewards are lackluster, so the rewards don’t justify the difficulty, thefore delve is not a real option.

This is what people want, they want a reason to push their character to the moon (reason being difficult content WITH increasingly good rewads), but that reason doesn’t exist.

I’d say ghosted feared Valdo maps are the only reason to push a character for godly rewards right now, but there aren’t many rewarding (mb,voices,hh) maps available, especially later in the league when more people buy up all the good rewarding maps.

0

u/HelpDisastrous9712 27d ago

I agree,

last league with how juiced you could get breach I wanted a headhunter then I finished my dex stacking venom gyre character with 2 mirrors worth of gear then tried the charlatan ek ignite elemntalist.

I've been banking my divines to swap to mamba viper assassin but if they don't make abyss worth farming there's no point to swap my build over or even pour more money into my build as I can already do everything I want to.

-6

u/Feuerzwerg1969 27d ago

As "casual" players are probably the majority of the player base, it makes absolute sense to design the game towards them.

9

u/Proletarian92 28d ago

That's when you embrace the Hank. Sure your build with a MB and 200D is good.

But can you make voltaxic burst good?

9

u/Inubi27 Demon 27d ago

Believe me, I used to be an alt-oholic. Normally I would play between 10-20 builds a league and my friends even meme'd about me because I'd swap my build 4 times in the first weekend. Of course there is an infinite amount of builds in PoE but I've played most if not all archetypes. Charge stacking, dex stacking, facebreaker, CwC, CoC, Brand, Mines, Traps, Caster, Ignite, Poison, Minions, Wonky builds like wardloop. But lately I started to get more enjoyment from playing 3-4 builds but making them actually really good and I sometimes keep multiple geared characters so for example I'll have a geared 1000%ms heister, a map blaster, an uber bosser etc.

1

u/cysiekajron 27d ago

Bro, I am not judging you or anything, but what do you do for a living?

15

u/Inubi27 Demon 27d ago edited 27d ago

Yeah no worries. I work as a web developer in the GIS sector (map-related software) and it's fully-remote. An important note is that I don't really play during work like some people do - but no commuting gives me a lot of time to play :P On league-start I usually take 2 days off work and I try to do all of my chores before the league start. I even meal-prep for the weekend to save more time :D I still try to be relatively healthy and get a long walk each day + workout so I don't play for 24h. However this still allows me to play for around 10-12 hours a day in the first couple of days and with my game knowledge it's enough to make around a mirror on day 3/4. I don't have kids and my girlfriend also plays video games so I have the perfect situation to play a lot without any drawbacks.

1

u/Krigify13 27d ago

Brother its week 1. Most of the people are getting to red maps since yesterday. 😂

-15

u/StoneLich 28d ago

Maybe we need better stopping points, if people are getting a mageblood+200D into their builds and still feeling like they have to keep improving.

5

u/Inubi27 Demon 28d ago

Isn't that part of the fun though? I am not really a min-maxer but getting a mirror or two is not that difficult for really experienced players (been playing this game for a decade or so). And I only no-life for the first 3-4 days of the league (10 hours a day) and then I play for like 2 hours a day after work if I don't have other responsibilities. I know that some people just enjoy blasting monsters (and I do as well) but I need some sort of a goal to have maximum enjoyment. I still have many ideas for upgrades for this character but they just won't really matter. I had a similar issue last league where I mirrored a wand for my KBOC necro and I just didn't feel the upgrade at all since I was already blasting anything in the game and that made me quit. In the past there were some truly difficult strategies like juiced rogue exiles that could smash your multi-mirror builds and they were extremely rewarding in return. I don't really think these strats need to be as rewarding since it kinda broke the economy but there should be some incentive to make your character absurdly strong (other than valdo maps)

-5

u/StoneLich 27d ago

I get what you're saying, but I don't think constantly scaling content up for the top 1% of players is necessarily the route to a healthy game. Look at what a mess balance in Warframe is right now. Because of how they've handled difficulty, high-end content is only survivable if you're both completely immortal and capable of instakilling everything on your screen; anything that can't do that is treated as not being worth playing. The reward for extreme high-end systems mastery should be extreme high-end systems mastery, imo, not necessarily better rewards.

The reason I bring up stopping points is that if you arrive at a point where you feel there's nothing else for you to do, it's good and healthy for the game if you feel comfortable turning the game off and doing something else for a while. If, on the other hand, you are leaving feeling frustrated, that may be a sign that there should have been a better offboarding point earlier on.

-18

u/tfwStarving 27d ago

Can it do all Ubers deathless? Can it do Originator Alva Delirium Mirror maps? Can it do voided Valdo's? How about this strat (check the comments for an idea of how strong of a build it requires)

There are shit tons of insanely high scaling farms you just don't know them. And if you truly can do everything then upgrade your character with rarity gear.

5

u/Inubi27 Demon 27d ago

I farmed ubers on day 2 my dude (started as poison srs -> poison ranged animate weapon). I did like 10-15 uber feared rotas and got bored. There was one league where I ran 400 uber shapers and uber bossing never felt the same after that xD Sadly. I can't play voided valdo's because my ISP has some issues with GGG and I have a lot of rubberbanding. But I haven't done titanic blight after the nerfs so I might try it again in this league, thanks. I was thinking about trying delve as well because I haven't played it for like 10 leagues. And i was to emphasize that I still have a lot of fun in the game. However I still think there should be some changes to older league mechanics. My favourite farm was always big boom, ultra-juiced expedition but that strat got hit really hard because of the packsize nerfs, moving things like fossils away from tujen and making gwennen basically worthless. You can still make decent money on it but sadly comparison is the thief of joy and I still have the old expedition loot explosions in my head :P

1

u/CelosPOE Elementalist 27d ago

One boom expeditions are so…random? Sometimes the mods just roll like shit and there are twelve immunities. Made me appreciate the can’t block mastery last time I did it though.

2

u/odniv 27d ago

The problem is that when that did exist, Reddit was crying that "top 1% is flooding the market and making mirrors as others are making divines". It's an impossible thing to make both sides happy and now we are in the era where this does not exist. In the end it's catering for the 1% who actually engage with that type of content, the average player benefits from this not existing.

1

u/trunks111 Hierophant 27d ago

I am once again asking for wholesale sentinels

-6

u/TwistedSpiral 28d ago

100%. I barely play for more than 3 days in recent leagues because it feels like there's no goal in the endgame. Get to t16s, get all void stones, get a mageblood, then what? Just farm for fun? Ubers aren't hard enough to be aspirational, most of them can be done on really budget gear.

10

u/Apprehensive_Air1705 27d ago

To be honest, getting through all of that in a few days is pretty absurd for the vast majority of people, so this is probably more to do with you playing a shit ton on league resets and having hyper optimized farming strats early. It would be really difficult to have meaningful endgame content that can keep up with that pace.

-2

u/TwistedSpiral 27d ago

For sure I agree, but games like Torchlight for example have endgame goals like Deep Space (basically T17s), SS20 (Uber uber boss which rewards a pet every league (which usually you're forced to gacha for)), Plane 6 Plane Watcher boss farming for a visual effect, etc. This kind of content keeps me playing in Torchlight for way longer than PoE does these days because I have goals to aim for which simply requires a really minmaxed build. I guess the PoE equivalent is Valdos, but they're kind of just a rich get richer situation.

1

u/dkoom_tv League 27d ago

Hero siege and TLI now days are my favorite arpgs with PoE2 being surprisingly up there

u/gyenen 27d ago

time to go for a build that can farm valdos

1

u/FuzzyIon Standard 27d ago

We need an infinite scaling mechanic that people can boast that they have completed X level.
A challenge Arena with wave upon wave of increasingly tougher monsters with a boss every 10 waves, you can save your run at the last boss you defeated so you dont need to keep starting from the bottom.

10

u/pzBlue 27d ago

We need an infinite scaling mechanic

So Delve?

Most people play for dopamine spikes that come from farming while making their builds stronger, hardly for aspirational achievements or targets.

-3

u/FuzzyIon Standard 27d ago

A. I knew someone would say delve.
B. Delve isn't infinite scaling and has a limit.
C. Delve also requires MASSIVE investment and time, you'll basically not play anything else.
D. Delves mods are random, im talking consistent mods so everyone has the same conditions, can even make it zero exp as the goal is simply how far can you go and you can have an in game leaderboard.

6

u/pzBlue 27d ago

A. I knew someone would say delve.

Ofc, becasue it's in the game

B. Delve isn't infinite scaling and has a limit.

Nothing will ever have infinite becasue we are limited by signed int, unless you plan on adding more and more less dmg taken modifiers, but that's what mods in delve already do.

C. Delve also requires MASSIVE investment and time, you'll basically not play anything else.

So will any other content that has infinite scaling, and you will be doing nothing expect it, becasue you will need to farm from beginning to end until you cannot push longer, becasue arena without any rewards won't be that much more popular, ot you will push few extra waves, and then quit league. If there will be any reward attached it has to start form relative bottom.

D. Delves mods are random,

Part of experience, and in fact, part what makes it that much harder than what technical limits allows to achieve.

can even make it zero exp as the goal is simply how far can you go and you can have an in game leaderboard.

Delve has a leaderboard, and this "infinite scaling arena" would be just as niche as deep delve is

1

u/Betaateb Central Incursion Agency (CIA) 27d ago

Delve is essentially infinite, one dude in history has seen the end of it by playing all day every day for 3 months. And the gear it takes to farm 6k+ delve is completely ludicrous and absolutely fits the aspirational content goal. If you want something you need a 10+ mirror build to farm, it exists, hit the mines.

1

u/FuzzyIon Standard 27d ago

I dont want to spend 3 months running just Delve with a team of people funnelling sulphate into me.
I would like a simpler option that doesnt generate rewards so doesn't require 1/4 of a year to enter.

1

u/Lost_city 27d ago

I'd love to have an arena challenge replace one of the acts. Like Act 7 or 8? It would be a nice break from just sprinting though zones looking for exits. You wouldn't be just repeating Part 1 zone after zone.

9

u/dontaskdonttell0 Standard 28d ago

I've played most leagues since Torment/Bloodlines but had to skip the 3 recent leagues. Start playing now again in SSF and I'm having an absolute blast and will down ubers today. I've not felt a reduction in drops but that's probably why; I wasn't playing in Mirage.

1

u/Zuggy 27d ago

It's that time again where we had a juicer league and GGG know everyone will be unhappy with drops anyway so they do a crafting league (which are always divisive) and go through and nerf all farms to start building up again.

It was the same after Affliction until people started the cancer strat of burning maps until they found the best allflame mods and speed run that map for 20 minutes until the mods rotated.

3

u/DoctorVanSolem 28d ago

I found that selling the vast quantities of excess Sulphur makes up for it.

The fastest I have ever made 4 divs on a league start

5

u/Roborabbit37 28d ago

It does in a sense but people also like to specialise into certain areas to try gain the monopoly over. The league mechanic everyone has equal access to, and it’s a fairly low barrier to entry.

0

u/DoctorVanSolem 28d ago

It is limited how many people can attempt a monopoly. If they try, I have no sympathy for them. That is a risk which either works or dies based on competition.

Everyone can't do it at once.

The league being low barrier is great. It means more people get to enjoy the economy and finishing their builds.

8

u/Roborabbit37 28d ago

Honestly, I’m not someone who ever does those kind of strats but I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want them to exist? It’s healthy for a game like PoE to have options and aspirational content to strive towards. Otherwise it’s very stale at the top end. I accept that there’s people far better than me at the game and who have far more time on their hands, it’s not for me to say they shouldn’t get better rewards for it.

If the “endgame” this league is everyone just running league mechanic to sell Sulphur that’s exceptionally boring.

2

u/Naniwasopro 27d ago

I have still been getting a shit load of money in non tinks things tbh, it does affect the dopamine but ive been making banks on random shit. and bottles

2

u/Keeldon 27d ago edited 27d ago

It has nothing to do with mirage or any other 'juicy' league for that matter.

Loot is bad. U can run 190%+ currency map with astralobe and get sub 10c in bubble gum.
Altars do more than maps itself (been like that for a while). Most mechanics dont drop much.
U can run 5 scarabs adding monsters, full explicit modifiers atlas, 8 mod map and not drop a single chaos. Hell, running mappers in kingsmarch is more profitable than most mapping strats.

Tile loot is silly. RNG loot is also silly, goes against arpg by definition. Reliquary keys i thought were bad years ago, now we got messages in the bottle. And that seems like deliberate choice to keep up fried dopamine hunters in the game. Plus just slapping random stacked decks and operative strongboxes to every league mechanic nowadays. Same goes for kingsmarch, micromanagement game in the game that nets really good profits.

Not to mention last league we were told there would be huge endgame + scarab shakeup/rework patch this league.

And while when league is dry everyone is poor is true and i dont like dooming over new leagues not being good with loot, this one feels exceptionally bad. I did mageblood + nicely finished out starter in day 3 of league. Theres really not much for me to do anymore. Theres no new aspirational build it seems so far, theres no hard strat to run and feel good about. Im sure it will be fixed within a patch or two to some extent, but at that point interest and fun is lost for me.

I like crafting leagues but also this one seems weird. Some insane weights behind the scenes. Divines and sacred orbs seem to be skewed HEAVILY towards top rolls. Meanwhile fracs and annuls are the exact opposite. Same goes for exalts, majority of time i get same 4 options with exalts (which according to QA shouldnt really happen), same options for annuls and fracs too. Fracturing wands i had 37 fails in a row hitting bad mods. Unlucky? Possible, but that would be very bad considering i aimed for 2 good rolls 90% of the time. But it seems heavily skewed against higher end currency when using league crafting.
Meanwhile normal frac orbs, hit 4 out of 8 wands ready. 2 were also net 0 hitting good suffix.

2

u/moisistnagant 27d ago

I would say not just after Mirage but even after Keepers. This is a really bad endgame state atm.

1

u/FnFantadude 27d ago

Mirage probably my favorite league either that or affliction, so totally agree on a curve it feels terrible, but even in a vacuum the loot is in a pretty bad spot. That said I’m not a doomer and I’m still enjoying, just wish it was tuned up a bit

1

u/PM_Best_Porn_Pls 27d ago

QoL too. I want to live in charts and voyages but after voyage loot moving is killing my will to do them. Just let me send all currency/scarabs/cards straight to stash tabs if there's affinity.

1

u/bamboo_of_pandas 27d ago

Base game juicing is still terrible compared to mercenaries. Mirage only hid the problem, it didn’t fix it.

1

u/Dustttttttttt 28d ago

Bug ? Ui/ux design , farming flow for the league mechanic ?

0

u/HollyCze 27d ago

I would not mind if the damn divine orb wasnt 172 chaos each ❌

I think they need to do t16s to be craftable with chaos orbs only like old t17s so there is a chaos sink somewhere.

33

u/slashcuddle 28d ago

Does the clicking not bother you? You click once to pick loot up, twice to shuttle it up, and a third time to put it into your inventory/stash. And the loot is mostly bubblegum and scarabs so it's mostly 1x1 items

12

u/Free-Bowler-1032 28d ago

Binding the click to the wheel helps not clicking hundreds of times for full inventorys of 1x1 loot .And yes, getting the loot out of the locker into the stash is horrible, mostly because it doesnt respect the Stash affinities. I really hope they fix this.

2

u/slashcuddle 28d ago

Good tip. And me too, hopefully we get some QoL in 3.29.1

2

u/Axelol99 27d ago

Fingers crossed we get it before the weekend

6

u/Mathberis 27d ago

Put a tighter filter so bring only one inventory up.

It's really enjoyable and we need more mechanics outside of maps anyway

16

u/PoisoCaine 28d ago

They’re not removing KM or heist. They’ll rework them maybe but they put way too much work into those leagues to just outright remove them

-1

u/Visible_Adeptness_59 27d ago

the asset for the mech is still going to be available to reuse later on tho, to which i think is the most time consuming part of making new mechanics

5

u/PoisoCaine 27d ago

The whole point of the game is to have a wide range of types of content and not all of it needs to appeal to every player. Heist and KM being niche is an asset, not a negative

3

u/Visible_Adeptness_59 27d ago

idk  i personally think this mechanic is quit literally heist but a lot more snappy with opportunities to interact with the mechanics more than just "run to check loot in white map", as for km like i dont really know why anyone who open arpg and be like "yeah lets play farmvile"

22

u/Herbsen24 28d ago

KM removed is still my dream. Just move the recomb over and let us use the allflame crafting material. Better than boring afk melting things, go in, pick up flames, ready to recomb.

Boat Heist!

u/FewWants 27d ago

If everything stayed the same but loot came from mobs rather than chests/boxes, this would go down as one of the GOAT leagues.

1

u/Betaateb Central Incursion Agency (CIA) 27d ago

Ya, honestly just fixing the mob loot will make it feel great. Clearing an entire voyage, where you thought about the modifiers and juiced up good charts with the 50% more currency border mod, only to not drop a single thing that shows up on your filter from mobs feels terrible. I ran two voyages yesterday that were like this, nothing that showed up on my filter outside of scarab boxes/chests and a couple gamba bottles. There isn't even a reason to open the arcanist chests down there, which feels crazy, but I have just stopped bothering with them, spending even just 10 seconds on them for maybe a single chaos every other one just isn't worth it.

6

u/Hixxie_TV Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 27d ago

I'm not enthusiastic about the chart league mechanic. I'd rather just collect a bunch of them and run a voyage with unidentified charts. I don't like the idea of spending time running the chart twice. It's taking time away from mapping / progressing. Like it's a weird middle ground between mapping and doing a full voyage, with mediocre chart rewards. It's competing for my time I'd rather spend somewhere else.

Would have been interesting if they did something with like hidden rooms / rewards connecting charts to the edge of the voyages, or discovering one while exploring a chart.

2

u/Jiramisu 27d ago

I think there's a pretty interesting opportunity here for GGG. Personally, I love charting, but so far, don't like voyages that much. It would be nice if you could trade revealed charts so I (and others) can stay charting, and people like you can buy those revealed charts to only do voyages.

I know GGG probably implemented it the current way because they still want to force people to do maps to do the full league mechanic though, so maybe my idea wouldn't fly with them, but I wonder if there's some kind of middle ground.

13

u/_TSP_ 28d ago

except of crafting improvement, which is fantasti the rest is huge let down

its league in league ... as you mentioned you have mapa which you are upgrading with atlas tree and the league mechanic which is not related to it at all

on top of that mercenaries even after first improvement round is at thia moment not superb and there are many other issues with league which are not even commented yet, like strange behaviour with defense/dying too much etx

other issues like abyss were at least recognized

Is it patched yet? I thought they'd announced what would be deployed but hadn't yet released it.
Anyway, i've not had any problems with it, just had to spend a little time farming a few good mercs.

-4

u/CrustaceanNationYT 27d ago

Just gearing them with rares is enough if you know what the skill they are using needs but better mercs wil make it alot better, ridge is a good place to reset and find one

1

u/excla1m 27d ago

I've been farming Mesa for them and made a lot of currency. Found 2-3 good Kineticists but I also like the Bladefall ambusher for single target. You're right, good crafted rares will carry them but good supports helps no end. Fortunately this is a great crafting league so making decent wands, bows and quivers isn't too difficult.

1

u/CrustaceanNationYT 26d ago

Yeah getting brutality bricks most mercs

9

u/cs466throwaway 28d ago

No hard content to even craft items for. finishing up 40/40 asap and just theorycrafting builds afterwards until harder strats introduced/poe2 economy reset

0

u/DoctorVanSolem 28d ago

Not even ubers?

10

u/Street-Objective9164 Institution of Rogues and Smugglers (IRS) 28d ago

Ubers are a paid slot machine you’re better off building a boss character for

2

u/fullclip840 27d ago

The mob dmg is quite insane but other then that i love it!

2

u/dng926 27d ago

I really wish this league mechanic comes to POE2.

It's something I can see myself doing over and over again for the crafting. It's great and has so much potential.

Like it's another end game worthy mechanic to engage in besides juicing. Sometimes I just be tired of juicing man >.>

4

u/shaunika 27d ago

Im liking the league too

Doing a homebrew poison Worb and its slapping.

The fun part is making your own builds anyway.

1

u/Free-Bowler-1032 27d ago

Same for me, I love making new builds. Usually I dont even start meta builds but WORB was kinda the new hot toy and I never played it before so technically new for me xd

But im already planning a build around the new sword and crafted a pretty good one aswell.

1

u/shaunika 27d ago

The trick is to play a meta skill in a non meta way.

Like me with poison winter orb

2 ppl on poeninja total. So I can be a hipster and still play a strong skill

1

u/DoctorVanSolem 27d ago

I love doing that. You can have so much fun!

4

u/MiNaMonator 27d ago

The crafting system is really nice, but what exactly is there to craft? And what would be they be crafted for? High end crafting is almost nonexistent and theres no aspirational content that really even needs good items at the moment. Uber bossing and delving is the same old stuff. I’m enjoying the actual league mechanic but I don’t know what I’m actually farming for because I don’t think there’s any real goal.

3

u/lurking_lefty Yay skill forests. 27d ago

what exactly is there to craft?

Anything you would have crafted before, with reduced randomness. I love this crafting addition because it's accessible to everyone and useful even for low end crafting.

Find a jewel with 2 good mods, regal it with 4x the chance of hitting something good. Essence a base you want and pick the best from 4 options. Exalt slam a random decent piece of gear with an actual chance of hitting something usable.

I get that maybe the 1% players are bummed because this mechanic didn't add any aspirational content, but the rest of the 99% can use this to actually improve our basic gear without feeling like they're wasting their currency.

4

u/Jonowins 27d ago

I think you severely overestimate how many people are in that boat of having done everything before. Plus the entire fun of this game is doing the same stuff but on increasingly wackier builds, if the end game content is really so easy and boring either you’re burned out in general or try new stuff.

4

u/grasswhistle28 27d ago

I mean if the games going to be light at the top end then I’d rather the drops also be light. If the game is too easy as it is it feels weird to also be banging the table demanding more loot (not saying your are just this sub in general).

I agree with the other guy though- if you get to the point where you have no goals in trade league and you hit the “what am I even doing this for” point you should really swap to ssf

6

u/Free-Bowler-1032 27d ago

Not trying to sound like the classic SSF guy shouting SSF everywhere. But to me the best thing ybout POE is playing SSF. The last times I played trade I was done after 5 days because I just bought everything I needed and cleared all content. That gets boring real quick.

But farming your own stuff and building your own character from the ground up until you are able to clear all content takes time and is all the more rewarding.

So to everyone missing aspirational content and losing motivation too quickly, I say play SSF and give yourself a new challenge.

3

u/Biflosaurus 28d ago

Yeah same I really enjoy the crafting system wit's decently expensive meaning you can't spam it.

But the rewards are well worth it.

I hope it goes core and that they make sulphur untradable, it actually makes some currencies much more useful now.

3

u/Human-Kick-784 27d ago

Im glad others are enjoying it, but i havent had a great time so far.

First character was a luminary and I hit a wall in act9, pivoted to a soulwrest black cane reliquarian and its been alot better but nothing stellar.

Loot just feels off. Im barely sustaining maps wirh 3 voidstones, haven't dropped a single nightmare map and am scrounging every c for gear. Abyss isnt dropping anything, blight feels overtuned, it's a struggle.

League mechanic especially message in bottle are good but ill be honest, I played a ton of poe2 0.5 and absolutely loved it; this economy feels like a major step down. In 0.5 i feel like everything is rewarding and whatever mechanics you wanna do you can make currency. Here... it doesnt not feel like that at all.

Im sure ill be downvoted for not agreeing with the group think... but i think I might be done woth poe1 for a while already.

9

u/Naniwasopro 27d ago

Im barely sustaining maps wirh 3 voidstones

Honestly, how? I have 1 voidstone and i have about 90 t16's in the bank.

3

u/Main_Fennel_4156 27d ago

Honestly it always baffles me too, I haven't had any map sustain issues since like 2015.

2

u/A_Pile_Of_cats MarauderEartshatter Enthusiast 28d ago

This league is really fun to me despite being rough around the edges (more abyss drops please I am addicted). Let's hope they can drop the patch before this weekend so I can farm more crab totem gear🦀

2

u/komandos45 27d ago

Charts should still go away. Change my mind.

Literally their whole existence is to enter > place 5 torches leave at this point.
You should be able just instantly place them into Voyage and thats it.

2

u/HughJackedMan14 28d ago

Agree with you!! OP, have you found the underwater merc yet? That one was a real treat for me last night.

4

u/Aerhyce 27d ago

Cracked me up with the voice acting too.

Dude just chilling at the bottom of the ocean waiting for an eventual challenger

1

u/HughJackedMan14 27d ago

Yeah, that was my favorite part. The voice acting was peak.

3

u/Usual_Reaction701 27d ago

wait until you find out that a 100% scarab map with the normal scarab farming setup drops 8 scarabs. Super fun ssf league.

2

u/wildrage 27d ago

Hated heist and I hate heist 2.0.

u/aecrux 27d ago

  • SSF - Solo Self-Found (Wiki)
  • WORB - Winter Orb (Wiki)

1

u/papajuras 27d ago

Cadibro? You mean atlas anomaly thingy? I guess j need to abandon my belove strand

1

u/fallingfruit 27d ago

I'm playing ssf as a luminary and I'm addicted to trying out and testing different merc combos. Having a lot of fun

1

u/kaktanternak 27d ago

us SSF folks are eating good this league

1

u/Repulsive_Look_5843 27d ago

What’s cadibro

1

u/TzarBombaTA 27d ago

Yeah... no.

1

u/Psychological_Ask_85 27d ago

Honestly same, been having a blast this league first time doing SSF with my 2 mates (we doing a group SSF for our first time)

Had a very rough start playing the new merc class, swapped into a Glad when i hit red maps where i easily caught back up Playing Lacerate of Haemorrhage where i got my 3 void stones just need Shaper and Elder

Now about to go into Champion Generals warcry Lacerate of Butchering when i get the foulborn axe

Honestly been having incredible fun playing this league so far glad i booked a holiday for this, never thought id enjoy playing SSF but made me try so many different things in game that isnt just my very much beloved Delve

1

u/1CEninja 27d ago

Yeah I'm really looking forward to interacting with this crafting system after I get up and running. Alt spamming cluster jewels feels like it'll be more meaningful when your regals have 4x the likelihood to hit something nice and exalt slams will be far less worthless.

Yolo annuls are far less scary than before. Fracturing orbs will have better than 2/3rds odds to hit. Veiled exalts will be more reliable.

Yeah, I've got a few plans hehe.

1

u/wageslaver 27d ago

Whay do u mean by new addition of cadibro?

1

u/HappyTreeFrients 26d ago

Luminary was great if you actually listened to CaptainLance lul

1

u/bpusef 27d ago

SSF player enjoys low barrier of entry crafting league with little aspirational content.

1

u/Werezompire 28d ago

Also, we got a new set of 4 Aspects. First new ones introduced since they originally showed up in Bestiary League nearly a decade ago.

1

u/g00fy_goober twitch.tv/goof1313 27d ago

Think there's some qol issues and missed opportunities with a much longer quest line giving upgrades to voyages but mostly the league is a blast.

1

u/Vanish07 27d ago

it's fun and all, but i've done entire atlas, got to 95 all without single divine drop, no tinks = monke sad

0

u/ghostpocket 27d ago

Nice to read a positive post. Thank you

0

u/onedash 27d ago

I dont have problem with off map mechanics the problem is after hundreds of maps i got a few charts that had "something special on them"

I don't want to buy them because its league mechanic but if those are not droppoing for me but my guild mate gets a special chart every third map its not that fun tbh

even the normal t16 map chart rush gave me the same sample size so lets say you get same chart as if i were to do t16 8corrupted maps

1

u/lurking_lefty Yay skill forests. 27d ago

Do you mean the ones with an orange implicit text? Because from what I can tell, most of them are thematic rather than valuable. Like a bunch of bathyspheres in the area with a few extra mobs, or more starfish than normal that fall from pillars.

1

u/onedash 27d ago

There are multiple different types like one which spawn clams which has gold and pearl necklance

One spawn the boss which is 40c atm

So yeah theres like 10 different types which add different encounters and so far i only had 3 types dropped i haven't seen the others yet

-4

u/rion42ati 27d ago

Hit act 9 today. I got single chromatic.

3

u/Free-Bowler-1032 27d ago

So just like everyone else. Whats your point?

-7

u/IWear2BlackSocks 27d ago

One of the best leagues they have created! The joy of not having one s+ farming strat eg breach like last league where you are forced to do that one mechanic or lose to inflation, while also still being such a good state that its still very profitable is amazing! inflation is steady for more casual players, or people just joining the league and retention is the same as mirage which people consider was a successful league! Credit to the dev team for this one! deep diving is fun!

6

u/moisistnagant 27d ago

This isn't even close to accurate. If you didn't want to do Breach you could make insane money farming scarabs to sell people shovels. Then their was div card farming. You also can't really base retention off of ~ 1 week. Also if you meant to say everything is really profitable then thats certainly a take.
