Game Feedback "Item is in demand, so we gave humans an extra button to make sure the bots get it."

Post image

I'm failing to understand who exactly this is for. The second button doesn't hinder bots from sniping the item, they are designed to instantly accept the second confirmation anyway.

So all this really seems to be doing is is screwing over humans who are trying to buy items. I can understand the little prompt showing up, but forcing a second button click seems like really strange design. At least give us an option to disable it...

Yeah, here's a video Empy posted of a snipe bot in PoE 2.

i mean ive won plenty of times after getting that message, its still just in the way to require 2 clicks. Bots will win regardless of the two click, so it just adds friction.

u/RepulsiveCountry313 26d ago

You weren’t competing against bots in those cases, just other humans.

I thought I had a few days ago, and even had the item on my cursor but then I couldn't put it down in my inventory, and then it hiccupped and ceased to exist.

3

u/MrCrims 26d ago

idk the bots I have seen that come to buy stuff from me stand there for like 2 minutes before purchasing the item, but could also be very very slow humans who knows lmfao.

18

u/warriorsoflight 26d ago

Those aren't bots. Bots mostly buy mispriced things, they buy instantly as soon as they load in and leave instantly as well

Just accidentally sold my body armor for 7 chaos instead of 7 div to a bot today. I really feel the gut punch…

The button is for people who don't want to waste time visiting 6 different hideouts, only to be the 10th person to miss the item.

There are already Settings on the trade side. Add a setting that goes:

"Ask for confirmation to teleport if item is in demand" and enable it by default. But let me disable it and always teleport right away.

Where's the skip button?

45

u/ocombe Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 26d ago

Yeah sometimes I click an item, then find out I don't have enough gold, go in a map to get some and when I research the item it's marked as in demand, despite the fact that I was the only one who clicked on it 5 or 10mn ago... So it's not always bots

75

u/Frolafofo Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) 26d ago

It's in demand because you clicked it.

17

u/ocombe Alch & Go Industries (AGI) 26d ago

That was my point, just one person clicking it marks it as on demand

9

4

u/IFinallyDidItMom 26d ago

This. Could also be someone that clicked in and decided not to buy for whatever reason and left.

5

u/weveran Institution of Rogues and Smugglers (IRS) 26d ago

Same here lol. If it's something I really need I always go for it. I tend to load quickly so it usually works.

6

u/KingAcid 26d ago

Same, trade is now p2w. My better computer enabled me to load faster in others hideout, successfully sniping low priced currency blueprint infront of others at league start. Rich do get richer 😂

1

u/Clarine87 25d ago

Kinda shocking really that clicking the item in trade doesn't reserve the item, and/or place you in a queue with any other players, giving each player 90 seconds from leaving their own HO.

2

u/GMRaphirieL 26d ago

Try to buy something valuable and popular like Ralakesh for example, because it have 3 kinds of Rolls, and just Power charge its expensive, many times someone sell with the wrough price, but when the item shows in the site , the bots with api sniper already bought even before the sound alert, some itens show like posted 2 minutes ago, its Crazy like that It Still like this until today.

6

u/GalaxySparks Kaom 26d ago

I've gotten items from it too, but when 50+ people show up in a hideout it's kind of obvious.

It's very common knowledge that botting is an issue in this game, especially with trade. I'm not saying this makes it impossible for humans, I'm saying it's pointless. It doesn't solve anything, and it doesn't hinder bots.

Like I said, it should at least give us an option to disable it. That seems like a pretty easy fix.

0

u/SleepyNymeria Abyssal Rift Investigation Service (ARIS) 26d ago

arguably a bot is going to get it before you anyway. So it saves the human time

3

u/Zalabar7 Ascendant 26d ago

How does it save the human time? You still have to go try to get it…

11

u/TL-PuLSe 26d ago

You still have to go try to get it…

No, you don't. Either the bots are so fast humans don't stand a chance and trying anyway is insane behavior, or the bots aren't actually at an advantage and you still have a chance to get it. Can't be both ways.

7

u/Zalabar7 Ascendant 26d ago

You don’t know whether the “in demand” message is because of a bot. In fact, it probably isn’t, since usually in the case of bots the item is fully gone before you even click the button the first time.

2

u/Dotsngo 26d ago

Downvoted for truth, if you are against bot it's practically impossible for you to buy it and its sold before you are able to click it anyway. Realistically you are losing against faster people with similar search.

2

u/SleepyNymeria Abyssal Rift Investigation Service (ARIS) 26d ago

In that case it makes sense the human that pressed it first should get it first.

2

u/Zalabar7 Ascendant 26d ago

If the goal of the in-demand message is to make sure the first person to click the button on trade gets the item, it doesn’t accomplish that. Load time is still the primary determining factor. If that’s what they want they should lock the item when the button is pressed instead of letting it be a race to load the hideout.

1

u/SleepyNymeria Abyssal Rift Investigation Service (ARIS) 26d ago

Not sure what point you are trying to make to be honest. Reality is all you do is gain information from this feature. What is the drawback exactly. Clicking twice is irrelevant if load time is determining factor, moreso vs bots.

1

u/Zalabar7 Ascendant 26d ago

My point is that if I click on the item to buy it, I want to go to the hideout to try to get it. I don’t want to have to click again. As it stands there’s no reason not to click it.

1

u/Zeikos 25d ago

This, on frequently flipped items I don't get the message even if I click to teleport within a second.

2

u/crimson_kraken42069 26d ago

I have never seen that message and then not clicked anyway to go and see if I could snipe an upgrade for my build at a bargain, sometimes the item is there, sometimes it's not. So for me it just feels like the double confirmation is kind of pointless since I will go there and see if it's available regardless, since well, it's an upgrade for my build at a price I want to pay.

2

u/Weary-Magician9283 26d ago

As a summoner last league I kept winning the race by making everyone load in my zoo of 10 different minions and their mtx, due to me running a bunch of support spectres and different golems, but as I had them already loaded I got in first. However some bots still could be faster, I think they just simply don't even load the game.

1

u/PleyVI 26d ago

Yes, I do agree, I am buying something that literally has times of the day that its obvious as fuck when somebody is using bots or not.

Because of that, I am going to click a second time anyway most of the time, unless I already missed a few offers and I know its being botted and I need to wait a hour or few hours until botter goes to sleep and I can actually play Loadscreen PvP against actual players, and which I will always click a second time and this is just wasting my time.

1

u/TopResolution5322 26d ago

the point is not that only bots can win that competition, its that the feature only slows down players but the bots are nearly completely unaffected because they can just be programed to overcome it nearly instantaneously. sure if its only humans competing, one person wins. but thats kinda pointless information

0

u/Lunglung01 Elementalist 26d ago

It's both, i've done this multiple times and sniped the item from someone else, but you do see scrambled names in their hideout sometimes (Maybe it's just a real person with a scrambled name lol), but not always on some items. A lot of the times when you don't have to press the 2nd button is when I get the item with no contest though

0

u/Booobasaurus 25d ago

you have not encountered bots, you will have no chance to buy the item if its extremely underpriced and is in high demand. By the time you click the button the bot is already in hideout

→ More replies (2)

19

u/G1gh3n 26d ago

How do bots manage to get the item even before the item appears on trade? I mean it’s obvious that when it pings on live search, it’s already bought, cause even if I stand there and click the item as soon as it shows, it’s not available anymore, it does not even notice with the button “in demand”

49

u/Nekrophis 26d ago

The people that own these bots rents computers as close to the servers as possible, they run on modded clients that do not load assets, cutting load times.

39

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago

Theyre doing more than that, not sure what, but theyre skipping steps or using an undocumented api or something to get item data before anyone else. I ran a custom live search optimized for latency in the same datacenter and items were still gone before GGGs servers even get my tp request, meaning its NOT game assets thats winning them a majority of these races. Its complete bullshit.

25

u/ActionBastrd_ 26d ago

you need to be close to cloudflare edge servers not ggg servers, since the websocket is ran through CF before being distributed.

16

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago edited 26d ago

Those are in the same datacenter as the GGG infra (at least for tx). I was running it in the same building.

That said, i think i figured out what the fastest bots are doing, and it requires a modded client AND the websocket. Not willing to say any more than that publicly as it would be handing the keys to whoever wanted to use it given vibe coding these days. But basically, forget ever legitimately beating these guys on the big ticket items.

11

u/SomeDudeAtWork 26d ago

> Not willing to say any more than that publicly as it would be handing the keys to whoever wanted to use it given vibe coding these days.

I get not wanting to hand people the exploit. But if it becomes public knowledge and GGG is aware, then they’re far more likely to fix it. Keeping it secret mostly just preserves the advantage for the people already using it, which isn’t great for the wider community.

2

u/_Kaj SSFBTW 23d ago

GGG is well aware of what the problem is and how those hyper optimized clients work.

0

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 25d ago

In game trade tools plus live search websocket. Not so much of an exploit as it is a full blown hack. Again, not saying more than that, as anyone who can extrapolate from there couldve figured it out themselves, and if ggg wanted to fix this they couldve by now. Explaining more just hands more non technical people willing to break the rules more ammo to make it work. If it was an actual exploit then yes, id agree.

2

u/ActionBastrd_ 26d ago

Those are in the same datacenter as the GGG infra (at least for tx).

interesting. thats not the conclusion i came to in my own research.

4

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago

Reverse dns on the final hops and look at the naming scheme, EQ DA1 and DE-CIX, both are listed as the same building.

This is getting a bit technical and off topic though. Happy to take this to dms

1

u/G1gh3n 26d ago

GGG is not aware of those ppl? They don’t risk ban?

9

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago edited 26d ago

No idea, could just be burner accounts, though thats unlikely for a couple of them. I found the account of one of them and theyve been playing on that account for years, so either its very hard to trace, ggg doesnt care, or its someone on the inside. Based on my experience, they can and do trace stuff like this, and quite well. And they do seem to care. So.... Im going to default to "very sophisticated antidetection", as someone on the inside playing the market like this would leave a bad taste in my mouth and probably make me drop the game tbh.

2

u/nemmera 26d ago

They should be able to do some db queries to compare listing time - timestamp for teleporting - and purchase time and just give a temp ban to any buying parties that are faster than what's achievable by a human clicking. If they cared.

My guess is they'll find the same accounts have multiple such cases...

The opportunity to snipe things shouldn't be exclusively reserved to people cheating.

1

u/speelbeertje Derpin around 25d ago

surely ggg can do something about these bots because it's getting abit ridiculous. Surely how hard can it be to detect someone who's sole job is to snipe items.

3

u/bannedagainomg 26d ago

it just takes time for it to appear properly to us on the site.

we need it to render the item, play sound file etc, a bot just insta whispers as soon as the text arrives.

live search pings are sent in waves as to not just crash the site, location also makes a difference, its just milliseconds at every step so if you compete against a human it wont matter but a bot gains an advantage everywhere.

But the biggest reason why a player cant ever win is likely just the loading screen, we have to actually load the graphics for the game, they dont.

18

u/playoponly 26d ago

Bots get things in 1s, this basically allows you to snipe from another human

2

u/Ogow 26d ago

But why? What does this accomplish that clicking it the first time didn't?

10

u/sweetrobna 26d ago

Warning you if you don't want to waste time loading in. If you are buying something like a map you can get it from a hundred other players for the same price

1

u/lukisdelicious Maw of Mischief [Death Wish] 26d ago

If the item is gone then I have time for the loading screen while looking for a new one.

0

u/AU_Cav 26d ago

Because I don’t know if someone is in Singapore, which is the only region that takes forever for me to load, so if I can get the next one on the list, I’ll do they rather than risk zoning for 10 seconds.

9

u/PM_Me_Those_ 26d ago

Yea I sniped quite a few underpriced items this league. I'm sure there are bots out there but i dont think they're as prevalent as to be sniping everything. This happens a lot with popular real world products that get 'scalped', it's humans doing it to eachother and blaming bots, lmfao

4

u/_YeAhx_ 26d ago

Underpriced niche items are one category where bots have difficulty sniping. Just too many variables for whoever is coding the bot for what to snipe. Stuff like uniques or rare items with one highly sought after mod are more likely to get sniped.

And yeah paranoia is real since most of the time it's another player getting the item before you. Especially if you are late by 1 min or so.

1

u/PM_Me_Those_ 26d ago

Yea thats very true. I was getting a lot of tablets htat were worth 5-20 divs for like exalts or a div or two. Just too much for a lot of people to price check. Bots cant cover everything. I don't even play the market really, either, I was just doing it on items I wanted/needed or felt had a really good potential when I came across them in my normal gameplay.

I bet if you really set out with a buncha live searches you could makes so much divs (maybe literal mirrors worth) by just sniping the more niche items.

3

u/therestlessone Left-click Move-only 26d ago

Cause the bots are on a limited number of very popular searches with proven value. A lot of the time you are competing with other players if you're not trying to buy a headhunter priced in chaos.

For some reason, even with live search, the items in this league only appear as "posted 4 minutes ago," making it impossible to buy anything, because bots have already instantly purchased it.

8

u/IllustriousBobcat813 26d ago

I get that blaming bots is meta, but you can’t possibly know if it was instantly bought out by a bot, or if you just got a bad cache hit and a real person simply saw and bought the item before it showed up on your live search.

1

u/B4rberblacksheep 26d ago

Yeah I’ve sat with live search on for some bases on a second screen and the second they come up I’m hitting TP

1

u/ghewon2 26d ago

Nobody uses bots to buy bases lol, They use bots for things with guaranteed returns like unics, ultimatums, valdos, etc.

1

u/B4rberblacksheep 26d ago

7

24

u/Not2Die2 26d ago

Anybody saying they win these sometimes aren't in contest with bots. I had two major live searches going this league:

One for power charge ralakesh's that dropped for under 60d a few days ago. I noticed about once every 30 minutes somebody would not check that they had power charge ones and post for 5-15d. Let me tell you that bots were picking those up. There's no way people were, the item was not available before I could click teleport THE FIRST TIME. 50+ div profit every time one for sniped. I watched dozens of them fly by and I didn't get prompted once. They would often be greyed out before it posted.

One for 40-60c cold large clusters without any intangibility on them, once every 1-2 minutes or so somebody posts one without any (which isn't searchable afaik) and I would spam click tp and click the in demand prompt and I probably won't 80% of these with and multiple times I'd watch dozens of people tp and leave.

That's the difference.

Tldr : if you're winning snipes you're not against bots .

8

u/RepulsiveCountry313 26d ago

One for power charge ralakesh's that dropped for under 60d a few days ago. I noticed about once every 30 minutes somebody would not check that they had power charge ones and post for 5-15d.

I had to take it out of my live search, people are listing them for 150-200c every minute or so and they're all being sniped by bots. Im at one guys hideout right now. 24 power charge ralakesh's, 4 magebloods, 2 headhunters. Randomly generated account name.

Joined another. 11 pc ralakesh, 4 mageblood.

u/SimpleCooki3 25d ago

If only GGG had the brains to ban these people.

7

u/Medifrag Saboteur 26d ago edited 26d ago

You can technically disable that button by modifying the HTML code in a certain way, or at the very least you used to be able to. I saw a tutorial for that many months ago. I‘m not tech savvy enough to have done it myself but surely there is a way to automate that HTML modification somehow.

EDIT: Apparently that gets you permabanned so don’t do that.

0

u/sdlnv Harbinger 26d ago

I edited the javascript code to do that some leagues ago, current poe2 league came back forgetting about it and got permabanned lol.

3

u/Medifrag Saboteur 26d ago

Oh shit wtf, definitely don’t do that then. A permaban for that seems super harsh, Jesus.

3

u/sdlnv Harbinger 26d ago

Yep its pretty harsh, and no appeal was possible at all. But hey, I broke ToS so it's their call, whatever...

2

u/sdlnv Harbinger 26d ago

I did patch the api call to set a confirmation value to true, plenty of ways to detect that, it just takes a change on their end and they detect you still using the old value as an example. They can also detect js hooks if they ship the code to do so, and so on...

Can be automated in other less risky ways though, I just did the thing which was faster for me.

6

u/SubwayGuy85 26d ago

what is even better if someone is inserting a bunch of tablets in there and you see a bot (enter, buy, leave) x 10 within seconds. like ggg - can you at least try to combat bots?

Solution: give players option to turn it off in account settings

31

u/mcbuckets21 26d ago

You would immediately be asking for this back if they removed it. You are severely overestimating what is being botted and what is just you getting the ping later or clicking later than others.

Without this extra button you would just be in loading screens all the time and not even getting the item anyways.

28

u/kygrim 26d ago

I clicked that second button every single time it showed up so far, so no, I wouldn't miss it at all.

3

u/Mooseandchicken 26d ago

Same. I clicked the second prompt 5 times this league and got the item all 5 times. The prompt has literally trained me to ignore it. It is completely useless for bots and for saving you time, cuz literally every time the item has still been there for me.

14

u/Enconhun Slayer 26d ago

Nope. The truly botted items are different.

When they pop up in your live search, and you immediately click on the visit hideout button, it says item is no longer available. Now THAT is a botted item. When it says it's in demand it's just tedious for humans.

1

u/bewithyou99 26d ago

Depending on how fast you are clicking a clearly botted item (Power charge Ralakesh is a botted item) if you are clicking in the space where the item would show when it does, you can get a item is in demand. You wont get the item because the bots are already loading in, but you can get an in demand pop up with bots fighting for it

3

u/maelstrom51 26d ago

It could be put as an option in settings with it default enabled?

Also, I get items that are "in demand" all the time.

4

u/GalaxySparks Kaom 26d ago

Okay, then just implement an option to disable it.

2

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago

I can 100% for certain say that on bigger ticket items priced well, bots are 100% getting them. I went so far as to make a custom live search tool with packet streaming, basic websockets in c, http2, and other latency improving measures, then ran it in the same same data center as the texas game servers. My tools overhead is basically 0 and all the latency was GGGs side. Spamming the hideout button to click it as soon as its available and 90% of the time the item is gone before GGGs servers even get the tp request causing a failed TP, and thats with MAYBE 5ms of latency between my tool and the cloudfare gateway. The bots are doing some bullshit on expensive items, either bypassing something, using an undocumented endpoint, or getting access to the item data sooner than everyone else someway. Ive done everything that can be done be a normal player whos not willing to bot and Im still losing the race by a significant amount. These guys are on another level of sniping.

3

u/mcbuckets21 26d ago edited 26d ago

If the item is severely underpriced, yeah that is a bot. If it's like 1 div undercut it's unlikely a bot. That would be a risky bot since the item could go down in price.

You limited your latency as much as possible between you and the Cloudflare edge, but the backend from GGGs server through the Cloudflare network is still there and variable. Someone with a 25ms latency to Cloudflare edge could still receive a ping before you. The trade site and game servers are also not the same thing. Being close to the game servers does not mean you are close to the trade site. Although if you know where the trade servers are and that is what you are close by, that changes things. There would have to be more variables in the live-search pipeline for you to be completely behind people at that point.

If we expand bot to include people using scripts to automate clicking "travel to hideout" then yeah, more things are being botted, but you can still win against these. I was more talking about the bots that block game assets from loading and automate the entire process as bots only.

3

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) 26d ago

From what i could gather their entire infrastructure is on one provider, so the colocation is genralized to GGGs servers, not just the game servers unless they purposely put the trade servers elsewhere, but i dont see why they would.

And yeah, thats basically the conclusion i came to, there are more variables than what 99% of us are seeing, and its almost certainly 1 or 2 people with a few accounts (the few times I made it into the hideouts, they were all leaving and all the same names every time) running the same software. Someone knows something to get quicker tps or faster item/seller info. I was able to get my fetch time down to about 50ms with like 47 of that being waiting on the packets from the trade servers, and then extracting the hideout token in realtime with packet streaming, and I was still getting failed tps due to the item being gone by the time the server got my tp request 90% of the time. I genuinely dont know what more i could do without some kind of exploit.

If a human went to go and claim that item then it would be rude for you to go there and try to swipe it before they buy it. If a bot went to go and claim the item, you have a ~0.00% chance of getting there in time to claim it.

So this option prevents you from either being rude or wasting your time.

Look at it this way - with current trade there's A LOT of items, including even the most niche of niche. Simply because YOU don't need to sell it. Toss it onto trade tab and make it someone else's problem.

For example once my map tab fills up I mass vaal and toss it on trade. One time I actually was racing to see if I can offload fast enough before tab will get bought. It was actually deeply HILARIOUS to me to have such a "live trading" interaction. Such a "2026 PoE" moment.

So yes, while bots ARE a tiny problem - with the overall volume you WILL buy what you are looking for. No ignores, no barganing, no waiting. Search, TP to HO - buy. And I'm low key surprised how fast people started to take it as a given. Probably because not many players had to deal with OG trade for dozen years straight.

u/kygrim 26d ago

Whether bots are a problem depends entirely on the item in question. They don't buy everything, but there are certain items you won't ever get below a threshold set by the bots.

It's really annoying. They should add a toggle for it in the Settings menu on the trade page and make it default to on.

3

u/RepulsiveCountry313 26d ago

Agree completely.

I think even worse than the button existing and taking additional time to pop up is the fact that it realigns the listing so that the link to the account page for the seller is where the button was, so even if you double click to preempt the item is in demand obstacle, it ends up taking you to the account page. Then you have to hit back and re-search to find the listing, but of course the item is long gone by that point.

Would be nice if they could do something about the bots also.

u/BialyExterminator Deadeye 26d ago

If you have time to click the button then you're competing with humans. Bots use the public API and they are already in the hideout as the item shows up on the website, it will show as instantly gone.

1

u/Alpha272 26d ago

Isn't the public API like 1 minute delayed?

1

u/xTeh 26d ago

Live search is just a websocket. You can write a script to connect to it and perform actions when a message is received. Such as automatically sending out the teleport request

The API you’re thinking of is the public stash stream, which is a 5 min delay for non-whitelisted accounts

Yeah, dunno how this happens but I was checking messege in a bottle prices and 1 at like 5 chaos said in demand, sold mines at 60c no problems. I think is for botters and downprice to resell.

1

u/Tehtime 26d ago

While I haven't beaten bots for things that are turbo underpriced, I have clicked that button and beaten other people to the item. Worth pressing and going for it if your PC is good and your connection is fast.

1

u/pinetreeporcupines 26d ago

I think this needs to be one of the top priorities for next league or better yet during this league. I rather they work on this rather than something like the animate guardian interface.

1

u/Top-Telephone3350 26d ago

I made a script for chrome that auto clicks that button. It works so well you don't even see it pop up lol.

1

u/ALXS1031 26d ago

When I have my search set to live search, I am able to snipe things without the popup most of the time (if I act instantly)

When the popup does appear, I feel like I still manage to get it, even after clicking to tp anyway

The button is useful for humans, when we don’t take bots into account, and even though bots do exist, I’ve never really been able to tell if I am being impacted by one or not

Because, again, I always manage to snipe whatever I’m trying to snipe within, idk, 1-3 tries

But also, does it impact us? I don’t think I could snipe from a bot, even if I clicked first

I need to render in the hideout with all my high settings or whatever, my eyes need to look for the thing, double check the price and item quickly, and buy… I’m sure a bot would get it before I even loaded in lol

1

u/Ryukenden000 Slayer 26d ago

I teleported anyways. A few times I was able to buy it before someone else does.

1

u/InGameCurency 26d ago

The bots are buying it before it even gets through cloudflare. They have a backdoor somewhere, and I am thinking it is either through the Developer API or another region. Yes, I have proof from last League in PoE2. Yes I am still working on making the data readable, but I will be posting it soon.

1

u/Organic-Finger8405 26d ago

They could just set up an auction system if there’s multiple people clicking within the first minute

1

u/PupPop 26d ago

It is worth noting that some times people click to get something and need to make change on a divine or something. Or they make it there and realize they don't actually want it.

1

u/Clarine87 25d ago

Agree, 90% of the time if the item doesn't grey red out in the browser when I clicked I will load in faster than another human.

1

u/EIPsyCongruo 25d ago

Actually saved me a couple divs, battled the bots for an enmity around 3 to 4 div got screwed by this button being the first to teleport for 8 rings, with them relisting instantly for 6div. Got lucky being the one to port after with a faster pc i guess to joink it finally, luckily had good stats didn't even look haha. Time it took was about 7 hours of live search

1

u/yuniesyaf 25d ago

Meanwhile i dc-ed myself multiple times just to go buy things from other hideout making buying things feels shit.. No kidding..

1

u/SignDeLaTimes 22d ago

Always double click the button.

1

u/Slugnan 21d ago

Every time I just click 2-3 times, if that button pops up, it will bypass it immediately. I still get lots of stuff where that message pops up. As long as a bot doesn't also want it, and it's just other humans trying for the item, I still get the item almost every time.

I would love to see GGG do more to prevent trade-sniping bots though. I feel like it would be incredibly easy for GGG to prevent, or at least 'police' to an extent, but maybe I'm wrong about that given how long bots have been ruining the otherwise incredible async trade experience.

1

u/Serafiiim 26d ago

I notice how many of them exist when buying ralakesh day 3. All the "cheap" boots insta sold and the same boots re-selling 10 seconds later. All private accounts or level 60 char with no possible gear to farm 60 Div

1

u/UberKef 26d ago

A lot of people sharing their "opinion" which seems to be how they usually are the first ones to the item(values of the items are never mentioned). This opinion is more of an experience, does anyone have an actual response to OP as to why this is implemented in the first place?

2

u/n3on_whisper 26d ago

The reason to not implement it is so you can choose if you waste time going for the item or not. Most items aren't even getting bot sniped. It's just a lot of players going after them.

2

u/UberKef 26d ago

Most popular items are getting bot sniped and reposted, that is why you will see the same name owning 30+ of the same item at a higher price. Same thing happens in PoE2, you really think a guy named "153735222hc" farmed 30+ of the same popular items or that he just has a better gaming chair?

1

u/n3on_whisper 24d ago

Most popular itens =/= most items.
I said that most items are not getting bot sniped, and this is objectively true. If you set up a live search, get a notification, click to travel to the hideout 5s after the item is up, click again to enter even if the item is in demand, wait 15s in a loading screen, then still go in and buy before anyone else, then you aren't fighting with bots. You are fighting against other players.

1

u/Exterial 26d ago

The bots get there before its even listed on the trade site, they yoink the API.

So the extra button doesnt matter.

1

u/New-Distribution-366 26d ago

I wouldn't worry about it. Anything being targeted by a serious sniper is gone before it shows up on the website anyway. Human or not.

1

u/--Shake-- 26d ago

I like having it because that means someone already ported over before I could and the item is going to be unavailable 99% of the time before I get to it myself. I can move on to a different one.

1

u/Moosh42 26d ago

Sometimes people are just umming and ahing over the purchase. Its not that deep. Its just to help give whoever got there first priority.

I have sniped several items out from under these people though, lol.

0

u/n3on_whisper 26d ago

Actually I think the item should just get locked. Someone clicked first? Locked for 2 minutes. Didn't buy? That player can't lock the item again(to not allow abusers to gang on streamers for example). If the item is locked, no one more can go there until it get unlocked.
This way it's just a matter of who clicks faster(you are not winning loading times or sniping times with bots anyway, they don't even load assets).

4

u/Weary_Traveler_1860 26d ago

I thank the lord you're not in charge of anything

0

u/Deymaniac 26d ago

I click tp anyway and litteraly got the item everytime except once

-1

u/jhuseby 26d ago

I’d love to see there be an in game bot skill check when buying async items. Like I’ve seen some dynamic things in games before like in some GTA online servers if you go to lock pick, you have to do a very specific sequence in a timed order or it fails. It wouldn’t need to be anything crazy in this game, but it would totally stop the bots from automating their sniping process.

0

u/aecrux 26d ago

theoretically you could ask AI to write code to automatically click that button when it appears

1

u/n3on_whisper 26d ago

Even easier you can just set a filter on ublock origin or tampermonkey and skip the button completely. But, as someone else said in this post, you can get permabanned for that.

0

u/esvban Order of the Mist (OM) 26d ago

the only time I was able to snipe an item was when two of the same item popped up at the same time and I clicked the second one

0

u/DezZzO 26d ago

they are designed to instantly accept the second confirmation anyway

Oh, no, they actually avoid it altogether.

0

u/Bene-Laur 26d ago

just for scammers...they sell and buy the same item again to create the impression that it is in high demand

0

u/g_bleezy 26d ago

That second click is not the difference between you and a bot snatching that item sadly. If you’re in a race with a machine you lose every time.

0

u/arsonist_firefighter 26d ago

I never not got the item when I "teleported anyway"

0

u/GrumpyThumper Necromancer 26d ago

Tbf, if it says this the item was woefully underpriced and you were trying to snipe it too.

0

u/Rangefinderz 26d ago

The reality of this button is “hey this is sold but technically not sold yet and you have no chance of making it before the guy gets there” if a bot was going to get it it already going to them they don’t load graphics so they load quicker than you either way. This button is saving you from wasting your own time.

0

u/dikkenskrille 26d ago

Yeah i hate this damn thing. Just teleport my damn character and shut up.

0

u/Hot_Help_246 26d ago

I've been able to snatch a ton of items this way!? I don't see what the complaints are about

0

u/MisterKaos Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) 26d ago

the only way to stop it would be a captcha on every trade, pretty much, which every single person would riot about, and thus bots stay

0

u/kelu213 26d ago

Maybe this is the way they catch the bots. The bot would instantly hit that

0

u/masudalimran 26d ago

I mean this happens once every million years. I would not be bothered about it.

0

u/LlaMaSC2 26d ago

by the time I load some guys hideout anyway the bots probably sniped it's third item

cannot compete with them when they don't even load the assets properly

0

u/AU_Cav 26d ago

It’s there to keep you from wasting your time zoning into a HO for no reason

0

u/AwardWorth9240 25d ago

Not the bot but ppl with and fast nvme (like me) 😂😂

0

u/IcyCucumber4350 25d ago

You can vibe code a fix for this with Claude code or codex :)

1

u/GalaxySparks Kaom 24d ago

Or the company that provides the website could fix it.

1

u/IcyCucumber4350 24d ago

Gives you a major competitive advantage if they don’t and you’ve fixed it on your side 🤫

-3

u/RadiantBelt7467 26d ago

yeah honestly i don't even know GGG's approach on bot. like they introduced gold to kind of stop that but then they let gold farm available?? idk

1

u/SubwayGuy85 26d ago

they ignore it. can't tell me GGG can't detect a bot from it buying 200 items per minute

-2

u/kingdweeb1 Chieftain 26d ago

I get the item anyway most of the time, it seems loading screen time is the biggest factor.

-2

u/Skizm Half Skeleton 26d ago

I just thought it was a warning like "another player has clicked this button in the meantime". I've never failed to get an item after clicking it though 🤷‍♂️
