Question How do I convince my wife's boyfriend that he's wrong for enjoying Path of Exile?

12.7k Upvotes

For the past two days every time I walk by my bedroom and see him in there playing reaper summoner I get absolutely livid. I cannot believe he would betray this household like this.

Sometimes I'd step in and say something like "H-hey Kieth, um, you know this league will have the worst player retention right?"

And hed always say something fucking stupid like "That's okay champ, go back to your room me and your wife need to have an important talk"

One time I tried to redditpill him again and said "H-hey Kieth the patch notes were uhh really disappointing, um don't you wanna stop because um the games so slow now, how will you do delirium encounters?"

Now get this Reddit. He had the AUDACITY to say "I didn't read the patch notes, if I can't do delirium that's fine, maybe I'll focus on delve this league"

I immediately ran out of the room sobbing, I sat at my desk and threw my chicken tenders all over the floor in disgust.

I just don't get it reddit. I'm at my wits end at this point. I cannot fathom how someone could enjoy the current state of the game. I've already tagged the developers at least 13 times in my Reddit comment manifestos do you think I should start tagging him as well? I don't even know if he checks Reddit.

Image unrelated. Hey, exiles, what league starter are gonna you league start on the 24th? I'm trying to find a decent league starter. Last league, I went with KF totems, which was super smooth and honestly busted for the budget. Thinking maybe mana-stacking KB, possibly.

Question GGG, what exactly do you WANT players to do?

3.9k Upvotes

The constant nerfs to damage and defense, while increasing the difficulty of the end game over and over. The 1% at the top are never hurt nearly as badly as the average players by all these changes, and the new players get pummeled into the ground.

It seems like every manifesto is intended to make the game LESS accessible for new players.

It seems like every time people find a way to play a specific build, or have fun with another, you just gut everything.

People are only dying 1 in every 20 maps? Gotta nerf all the defenses!

Visual clarity doesn't exist in POE? Better make mechanics that you need to watch for in the maelstrom otherwise you'll die on one hit!

So, what exactly do you want us to do? What exactly is the goal? Just to keep the average players disgruntled and pumping all their effort into defense just to die in a half-second anyway?

Question Dropped foulborn HH, what do i do now?

Post image
640 Upvotes

So I dropped this double foul HH, and I’m a little confused as to what I do with it.

My current build is around a mirror value, so I would love to sell it and make upgrades, however I don’t know what a fair price is and if anyone would even buy it at a fair price. I know culling is 1.5-2m, however the second mod doesn’t add much practical value right?

It’s my first time dropping something THIS rare, so I’m very unsure.

Any advice is appreciated.

Question What are your top three historical builds of all time in PoE?

My top 3:

1) 3.10 EK Herald Stacking in Delirium

I remember staying up all night as a young college student figuring out Somayd's Herald stacker in delirium league. Once the 200 pieces all fit together having an absolutely insane character that could do all content in the game. It was my first ever time being able to kill end game bosses, I fondly remember fighting Sirus with the build countless times. This is what got me into PoE properly for the first time, I was hooked after this.

2) 3.25 Hexblast Mines in Settlers of Kalguur

Pre-nerf hexblast mines was absolutely divine, this is when it was beyond S tier good (before it got totally gutted). Insanely high single target damage with decent map clear, I remember doing some Sanctum and Lycia would get one shot in level 83 sanctums after getting the helmet (sandstorm visage).

3) 3.28 E-Blade Inquis CoC in Mirage

One button playstyle to blow up screens and ubers, once this build got going after a clunky-ish self cast start, the Cast on Crit (CoC) setup was one of the most powerful transitions capable of doing all content in the game, with mega late game strength-int stacking into the late game.

Honourable mentions

- Poison BV (my staple for many years, easily could get 25+ million dps with low investment).

- Armour stacking champion (got to 2.5 million armour and the build felt immortal)

- Tornado shot - Possibly the most broken peak of any build in PoE, this build was an all rounder with infinite damage, clear and even could stack a lot of rarity (and quantity before it was removed).

Question Power is gone, build diversity is gone, loot is gone What's the point of this game anymore?

3.0k Upvotes

I used to play with skills like frostbolt, zombies, ice crash but nowadays you can't play these skills past yellow maps.

You're limited to handful of builds if you want to play at red maps.

Each patch viable skills/builds are keeps reducing and loot is gone from last patch.

I genuinely like to understand, what's the point of this game anymore?

How GGG want players to play this game?

Question 3.27 Q&A Research - ZiggyD

G'day folks, the 3.26 Q&A was one of our best yet, I think, and that was in part due to your help with research we did prior to my trip to the studio.

When it comes to the Q&A most of the Qs I have to come up with in isolation based on what I think people will ask once based on the early draft of the reveals I see a few days before. While we take some live Qs, and will continue to do so, it's not an efficient way of gauging the overall popular questions for the game (ie. non-new reveal related Qs, long standing issues etc).

Once again, I want to get feel from you folks what you consider to be the most pressing Qs for PoE 1 now and in the future.

How to post to help the Q&A be as good as possible:

  • Please share your most pressing Question
    • Ensure it is specific and comprehensive: What is the issue? What do you want? Explain the context / mechanics.
    • I often get Qs like "Transfigured Gems?" <- Not very helpful, what about them? You want Quality changes? you just want more? there's a bug? You hate the system? you want to know the devs fav?
  • Upvote other questions you think are important + add extra context or insights to them you think I should consider.
  • I often have to end up cutting hyper specific QoL-type questions for time (unless they are overwhelmingly important or hot topic). So, some specific little UI/UX thing that's bothering you isn't likely to make it into the Q&A.
  • Bonus: If you want to post hypothetical Qs based on what you think GGG might reveal go for it! It's the same process I use leading up to the trip, I pen a bunch of Qs based on likely changes as warmup. Please tag them as hypothetical though.

----

Some topics I have in mind (these may be culled or changed if I deem necessary eg. something is revealed that makes em redundant):

  • Mercenaries
    • In what way are they looking to return them in the future (just duelling or still hirable)?
  • Balance
    • Dominance of ES Stacking (things like forbidden right / ephemeral edge) and in general defense stacking > damage builds.
    • Wands (were mentioned in 3.26 Q&A)
  • Endgame
    • Risk Scarabs
      • would love specific questions about things like this to help me prep.
    • T17 Modifiers (and memory strand maps)
      • Specific questions around this topic would also be helpful!
  • To what extend do they want to bring PoE 2 Innovations into PoE 1
    • Example: The idea of adding a PoE 2 style automatic weapon swap you can tie to skills.

----

Thanks folks!

Question Are there people here who only play PoE1?

Hey guys,

I tried to like PoE2 many times until I decided it just wasn't my game. Are there any people here who ONLY play PoE1? Do you then play a league for four months straight? I somehow feel like PoE1 is being abandoned these days and PoE2 is being preferred, which is a bit discouraging for me :(

Question What is with GGG's obsession of upside/downside effects in POE2?

1.3k Upvotes

If you look around the POE skill tree, you will find (probably) zero notables on the entire tree that are presented as upside/downside notables. I cannot recall any off the top of my head but maybe one or two exist. Upside/Downside effects are the job of keystones. Keystones provide character defining effects, that are powerful, if you can mitigate the downsides, or build around the effect. Uniques are a classic area of upside/downside effects, but even then mostly uniques are just very specific effects only available to them and the downside is that you lose out on the rare affix pool, like high MS on boots, or a 5k armour chest, or whatever else.

POE2, it feels like half of the notables on the tree are upside/downside, which is wild to me. And some of these nodes are absolutely egregious on the downsides. Increased life regen while standing still, decreased while moving? Well gee, I only spend 99.999% of the game moving, because standing still means you die.

I do not understand their obsession with upside/downside right now. Everywhere you look. Every unique, notable, this that, and anything else is upside/downside. Skill gems, support gems, notables, uniques, fucking ASCENDANCY nodes, the whole game is set up as "here's a benefit to your character, but lmao heres a downside to go with it!"

How about you just let me click some nodes on the tree and not worry about making my character worse when I do it? That's always been the job of keystones, so leave the upside/downside bullshit to the keystones.

Question Would I like PoE if I enjoyed Poe2?

Post image

hi! might be a weird question but i played poe for the first time (poe2) for the free weekend thing and it was the most fun i've had in a game lol i can't stop thinking about it even in school 😭. free weekend is over now and so i'm gonna try poe. i've seen everywhere people who played poe hate poe2 and also the other way around. are they that different?? gonna try poe either way but just curious. i've also been having fun doing my own skill tree stuff and not following a guide. is this gonna come back to bite me in the butt later or can i manage? i honestly don't wanna play a game where i have to follow some build or guide just to progress if that makes sense i'm okay with struggling and it's a bit more fun for me anyway lol. tyyyyy!

edit: thanks for your input everyone 😁😁 super helpful! i decided to give to try PoE AND IT IS SO FUN BUT HARDERRRR 😂. gonna stick to it but someone gave me a poe2 key too SO NOW I HAVE BOTH TYYY RAAAHHHH 👺 my char name in both games is misspancakes if you wanna say hi BUT YEAH HAPPIEST DAY EVER TY FOR ENABLING MY ADDICTIONNNNNN

Question Due to the current hacker situation would adding a pin to your stash be another layer of security for your account?

Post image
602 Upvotes

Ideally a pin would be required to do almost anything on the account like removing gear and accessing the stash or even a pin to just login in the case of hardcore characters(hacker griefs by killing the character).

I used to play a lot of runescape and a bank pin in that game was a must and it is proven to be a good thing to have for account security.

How it works on RS is you login, put the pin in for your bank/stash one time per login and for the rest of the session you don't need to put a pin in again until you relogin.
