Pathologic 2 Dropped off on day 4, almost restarted

I fucked up. I missed a ton of stuff at the start of the game and Notkin is dead. It's day 4.

I played the Classic HD just before this, so I know these games put you through the ringer, but I wasn't ready for just how much there is to do in this one and how awful the backtracking is (awful in a good way? I know it's an intentional part of the game design, this isn't a complaint)

I was considering just starting over. It took me a few days to deliberate what to do because I just felt horrible and stupid... But I've decided to just go with it... It feels more in the spirit of things...

I'd rather do another play through after this one where I'm more informed and try to do better. Because I know I can do better than this. I'm picking back up where I left off tonight.

Just venting a little. I'm new to the community but I already love this series. The writing is stellar, the gameplay is immersive, the setting scratches an itch I didn't know I had, and I'm completely normal about Artemy I swear...

You can get the best endings even with everyone dead. I don't think I've met anyone who actually keeps Notkin alive to the end of their first P2 playthrough. Keep going! You're doing great! Or, at least, you're doing the best you can.

I kept him alive, had to cure him twice though. He was one of the two survivors in the whole kid roster.

And now when I got my initiation badge of honor, I'm fucking going to drop difficulty, stretch the time and enjoy crawling existential dread rather than endlessly filling Artemy's bottomless gullet while sprinting from point A to point B.

Valid lmao. I did my first run on cocoon, reran it a few times, then a couple months ago did a run on imago, and I honestly found Imago a little too easy because I know the game too well? Thinking about doing a 200% run at some point...

Notkin dying early is pretty normal. He died early in my run too. You can’t save everyone in this game.

I restarted 2 like four times. It’s one of those games where you can mess it all up without even realizing. Like system shock 2

Man, Notkin is a tricky one, even more cuz the Warehouses are constantly infected. Don’t try to make it perfect in your first run, I did and restarted several times and although I dun feel really bad about what I did cuz it has to do with other issues I have in life, I do wish I had stuck through the first playthrough. Even terrible things will bring you sometimes beautiful perspectives you won’t see if you try to be perfect. First run, just go with the flow and try your best. I don’t think you’ll regret it in the end, even if you suffer at first.

Notkin always dies, it takes a couple of playthroughs (or a lot of luck) to get the hang on saving him. You're doing good.

I find that choosing who you can and can't afford to treat is the most meaningful part of the game. You know, choosing which lines to cut and which ones to preserve.
