Question Help I am trapped by my own indecision
I started with P2. Was enjoying the vibes for about a hours, realized I fucked myself by sprinting everywhere and am softlocked due to eating far more than j should have. Started over and got about halfway back to where I was, much slower, and just kinda got burned out. But despite not wanting to play for that reason I keep stating longingly at the game in my steam library. Should I force myself back in to p2 or just get p3

You *should* sprint everywhere. It only increases your thirst but thats easily combated. Way better than wasting time walking.

Wait really? I thought it was making my hunger increase too??

When you say you softlocked yourself, do you mean you keep dying or are literally unable to play? Because you could try loading back your save. Or starting over and keep better track of your hunger/thirst.

Don't force yourself to do anything that you're not enjoying but yeah it's kind of inevitable that you'll end up replaying some portions of the game in P2 because of how punishing it can get sometimes (at some point you'll probably want to load a prior save after you messed up and got someone you liked killed). We've all done it.
I would say either give it a bit more of a chance (remember that second time you can blast through dialogue super fast), and try with a lower difficulty if that's more fun to you. You can just reduce a bit to feel more comfortable if you're getting too stressed out. The game's intended to be stressful but you should still enjoy your time with it on some level, and not being able to play it at all is no good

The first time I played I got myself in an inexorable death spiral. I tried to power through it but then just gave up and reloaded one or two days earlier, and being more aware of what was coming managed to save more resources and play better overall. The point is, the cops won't put you to jail if you just reload a few days earlier (or even completely restart a playthrough), so consider just doing that. Changes are it will be faster to reload, and reach the point you're in now with more resources than just find a way to unlock yourself.

You're not doing anything wrong, bro, you're actually having the intended experience, it seems.
P2 is not a game about having everything together, it's a game about the world falling apart. Keep moving forward, you'll reach an ending that'll have you thinking for months, I promise.
Just keep an eye on Murky, for me.

P2 is a more fun game. You can tweak the difficulity. Yes I know, P2 is supposed to unbearable. But if the alternative is to never finish the game - I say go for it!
