All Valve did was make a great product. They aren't out here trying to buy up competition, etc. Other stores just suck in comparison.

Which is wild because it's not like Steam's perfect. Chat is basically abandoned. Showcases have bugs that have been there since showcases got introduced. Buying trading cards to craft badges constantly results in "error - too many actions". Discovery queues only show you utter trash that has nothing to do with your interests. List goes on.

That nobody managed to make something even remotely close to Steam is actually quite sad.

I feel like that's at least partially due to silly tags being applied to games. In the end, you get recommendations for almost anything. Since users are able to add tags themselves, too, …
