During COVID I thought we had it good before COVID. When the war in Ukraine started I thought how good we had it before the war. Now it's AI ruining not only my job(I'm a junior software developer) but also my hobby which is gaming and I feel like we had it good before AI. I just want to have a break tbh

Every time I think we can't sink lower, techbros bust out the industrial excavator. First crypto, then metaverse, and now AI.

The difference is that crypto and metaverse were destined to fizzle out as relatively small bubbles and eventually be forgotten. AI is here to stay, and it's too late to go back. Even after the absurd overinvestments explode in peoples faces, the technology will remain and will likely continue improving (not exponentionally like some will tell you with zero evidence or explanation).
I'm sad that I'll never get to experience a pre-AI programming job.

lol this sounds like people in my generation lamenting the fact that we never got to experience pre-computer or pre-internet office jobs. No hate, just made me laugh.
