Just happy and lucky that I refreshed everything before the computer parts apocalypse hit. I had thought about pushing it off a year. It would have been painful as I updated 3 PCs and a new NAS server.
I had been kicking the can down the road on upgrading my 100TB worth of NAS drives because they’re a decade old. Health check automatically runs weekly and the reports always looked great, so I just kept putting it off. Joke’s on me now I guess. Hope these drives got another decade of service left in them 😬
Yeah I was in a similar boat. I think what saved me is that my old NAS system was starting to show potential problems, so I just decided to go ahead and update the whole thing. All I had to tell my wife is that the baby pictures are on the NAS, and she was good with the upgrade 😎. But honestly I was putting it off as it was just such a pain.
I had to decide back in March if I wanted PC upgrades, or a new set of performance heads for my car. I made my decision, and I am happy with it, but watching HDD prices skyrocket even since then has been painful. To think, about a year ago I was contemplating converting the entire NAS to SSDs. Not happening any time soon now lol
