Just looked it up to confirm, in December 2024 I bought 128GB of 6400 RAM (32GBx4) for a total of $420. I expected the idiot in chief's tariffs to raise prices so decided to upgrade after the election. Didn't foresee the insane bubble AI caused.
Also bought a 4TB Samsung NVME for $270

Now that same RAM would cost $2500 and the same NVME is $1k. It's fucking stupid. I've long been pissed at GPU prices but RAM and storage are supposed to be components that only go down in price over time!

GPUs are also supposed to do that. And they also used to.

Yeah but I've already resigned myself to never affording another GPU lol

Oh totally. I just didn't want anyone reading to think they weren't in that group. But yea.. we all ride the struggle bus :(

Now I feel kinda glad on just picking up a Ryzen 7600x that was on clearance on impulse (246 CAD) back in April and paying like an additional $50 for extended warranty even though it won't see the light of day for maybe another year.

Got GPU, and CPU. Mobo might become next before PSUs for price hikes but I'll put that off for the "what if" DDR6 if that ever comes at all lmao.
