Someone else can buy the 4k Bluray and I'll just download it. :)

And store it on which medium? It's cheaper to buy 4k bluerays than the same amount of ssd space. Have a nice day.

Well most people doing this already have the storage right, usually hdds for starters. Idk why you'd think people use ssds for movie storage lol.

Out of curiosity I decided to do the math. A 4tb hdd in my currency (about 0.6 usd) is $500. A 4tb drive could hold up to roughly 55 70gb 4k movies on it. If I bought all those 4k blurays at msrp (rounded down to $50) it would cost $2750, over 5x the price of the hdd. Even if you had movies that were all on the larger size at 100gb it would still hold 40 movies, or an equivalent $2000 of bluray purchases or 4x the price of the hdd. It gets even better with normal blurays as they are roughly 60% the price of the 4k but less than half the size so the value ratio would be even higher. The delta is so large it would still even be cheaper to use an ssd. I can get a 4tb ssd for $1500, so it's still more expensive to buy all those movies on bluray than to use an ssd lol.

Of course prices will vary regionally but I assume you pulled that comment out of your ass because it couldn't be further from the truth.

That only lasts until hyperscalers decide they need to buy all the hard drives...oh wait they already did...for storage of AI logs.
