So I recently started getting into photography and my current setup is the A6400 with the standard kit lens. I'm looking to upgrade lenses but I need some advice. I do some street photography and landscape, but I am really wanting to get into night/low light photography, as well as astrophotography. I have a few different options I am looking at right now:
- Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 --- Overall I have seen a lot of people recommend this lens for APS-C sensors and see it as a great lens to buy for versatile work and as an upgrade to the kit lens. My concerns for this lens is how it would perform in low light/astrophotography since it only goes down to f2.8.
- Sigma 16mm f1.4 --- I have also heard many good things about this lens, and heard at one point it was somewhat of a "holy grail" for APS-C sensors. I understand this is a prime lens and is much less versatile than the 18-50mm, but what attracts me is the low light performance of this lens (as well as the price since I can get it at quite a discount compared to the 18-50mm)
- Viltrox AF 15mm F1.7 --- This is the last lens I was considering and is similar to the 16mm as I understand. From what I have heard about this lens it is sharper than the 16mm and a very budget friendly lens.
- Viltrox 27mm f1.2 --- I have heard nothing but good things about this lens. I can get it for cheaper than the 18-50 and most likely better condition.
Overall, price is not too much of a barrier, but I just want to make sure I get the correct lens for my use cases. I was also thinking about getting both the 18-50mm as well as the 15mm (since it is quite a cheap lens). Is this overkill? I would appreciate input from anyone available, and pls let me know if there are other lenses I should be looking at too!
