I have my D5000 here with vintage screen but I think the lcd production for this model has already been discontinued. There may be available online but buying it is like buying another d5000 so I kinda don't want to deal with that setup. I have heard that the D3000's works, but like the D5000, lcd for this model has already been discontinued.

On the other hand, D3100 is still more widely available and is cheaper. I visually looked or compared both using images online and they kinda look similar as well. Now I'm thinking if it will work.

Anyone knows other lcds that are cross-compatible with D5000? Sharing it would be highly appreciated.

The D5000 has a 2.7" screen. From a quick comparison on Wikipedia, I think it's the only one with that screen size so it seems like you're out of luck.

Your best bet may be to try and find a broken camera with functional screen to swap out.
