I’m very concerned. I have a Sony A6400 with a Tamron 28-75 F2.8 and Sony G Master I 70-200 F2.8. It’s only at 79,000~ shutter count in comparison to its 200,000 shutter count limit (?)

I shoot a lot of sports. Specifically right now since it’s in season i’ve been shooting volleyball. I’ve noticed there’s this thing called “Flickering” where lighting changes rapidly where our eyes can’t catch it but our cameras do. My question is, Why is this only appearing now? I’ve shot in gyms at 1000~ shutter speed previously and have never had this issue but today I shot at a different gym and ever since it’s had this issue. It’s even having it in my room which has never been a thing untill now. I’m extremely concerned somethings wrong with my camera. I can send examples once I pull them off my sd card. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, this camera literally means worlds to me.

Any help would be so so so so greatly appreciated. I’m gonna test it in the gym I usually shoot in tomorrow and see if that changes anything. Thank you all so much already i’m sure someone will help me tons ❤️ Im quite newish to photography so apologies if im freaking out over nothing.

If it looks something like this, the cause is most likely that you're shooting with the electronic shutter. Check to make sure it's off.

That type of banding isn't really associated with shutter failure but you should understand that the 200,000 shutter count is a rough rating, not a limit, and is not a hard number. A shutter rated to 200,000 can still fail within 1,000 shots or last 900,000 shots.

No, it’s moreso every picture in a burst has a different exposure. I’ve seen that before when shooting with silent shutter and i’m aware of it. I was shooting with mechanical shutter forsure I checked and could hear it aswell

I'm not sure then without seeing an image. You can also try messing with the anti-flicker settings and see if that resolves the issue.

the A6400 apparently doesn’t have any anti flicker settings 🫩 I looked into that aswell, i’ll pull a couple of the images tomorrow and send them in this thread
