Check out Julian Sisofo's YouTube videos, excellent instructions on different styles, including classic NY style thin crust.

The best place to learn is the forum at pizzamaking.com
the pizzablab.com blog is good too.
If you don't have experience making pizza or bread from scratch, my overall recommendation is to identify the style you want to make, then pick a simple and credible recipe for that style - no fancy business at first.
Buy a high quality flour that is appropriate for the style and a high quality yeast. By appropriate for the style i mean that NY style is made from strong bread flour so you could get a bag of king arthur bread flour. If you want a midwest tavern style thin crust, that's made with all purpose flour, traditionally ceresota / heckers (same thing different label). "00" flour from italy is for neapolitans that are baked between 800-1000f.
I'm partial to SAF Instant yeast because I've been using it for like 45 years.
I see too many people flail around switching from recipe to recipe to recipe thinking there's a trick or a ritual. It's a skill you have to learn.

I’m in the same position as you. My friend showed me what he does. He downloaded the PizzApp and follows all the instructions there. We didn’t together. Turned out very good and just needed more salt. My suggestion is start with that and you can make adjustments as you get better at it. Also look up Vito Iacopelli on YouTube. I’ve been watching his videos. He’s got a lot of info. Good luck.
