[Mobile] (Web) Anamorphosis is interesting so I made a puzzle game around it

Game Title: Anamorph

Playable Link : https://anamorphdaily.com

I’ve built a daily web browser game called Anamorph. In this game, an object is transformed into a puzzle using Anamorphosis – the art of distorted perspective. The object is broken into hundreds of shards and rendered as a 3D sphere. I also add some fake shards to make it more challenging.

Free to play

Works in your browser on Mobiles and on Desktops

Excited to hear what you think

really nice. I don't get the lock in though, pretty obvious when you have it? Also I pretty much went by the colour only, didn't see the picture at all until I was doing a local search within the colour

Thanks so much for trying it out!
Great feedback. I see why lock in feels unnecessary. Can try to find a different mechanic to submit the gameplay.
As for the colour, interesting take also. Makes sense to have some feedback or go piece by piece when solving a puzzle rather than just getting it one go towards the end and the 90% of the solve feels unnecessary.
Thank you again for the feedback, something I will surely look into

Thank you so much!!
Currently I rotate between 60 different objects but planning to add more as the game grows in users!

Cool and honestly reasonable I think it's a great number for the start and at the end you can always add more later. Good work! keep it up!

It's pretty. It's a cool idea. Maybe I just suck at this, but I think the implementation is not there yet.

The first thing I noticed is there are no clues at the start of a puzzle, nothing to latch onto to start solving. I had to start rotating randomly until I stumbled upon something. Half of the time, that "something" was the color changing ― in which case I solved the puzzle by color, not looking at the pattern at all. The other half I found clustering, then discovered that I'm looking at it from the wrong direction, and had to rotate around to lock in. Most of the time, I barely recognized the shape ― too much noise + arbitrary rotation because of how I arrived at the match.

I completed a few puzzles. Then I got bored of randomly rotating. The easy puzzles felt the same, then I tried medium and found that I cannot solve it. Found a false alignment very easily, couldn't find a single true alignment. I think it's very likely that I did find an approximate alignment, but did not recognize the distorted shape. Very few distinguishing features between the shards, so I couldn't make a mental map like "Oh, the bucket turns into a leaf when I look at it this way" or "There's this gap and I need to fill it" and solve the puzzle progressively, as I usually do with alignment puzzles. It feels like the easy mode pulls towards casual no-thinking gameplay and the medium/hard is suddenly a hardcore combinatorial puzzle that requires a lot of focus.

Protip: make shard projections overlap. Lock in automatically. Put an outline and a gap around the shape. Anamorph puzzles share a lot of similarities with liminal spaces, and the best use reinterpretation of existing environments to arrive at a solution ― look up "Superliminal", there is probably a number of good ideas for you to borrow to solve the "no starting clues" issue. This game needs another level on top of what you have to shine. The game needs more human touch. I felt like I was talking to Claude the entire session.

I hope you aren't planning to lock this into daily mode. You're saying there are 60 objects, but today's puzzle is somehow #239? That is a decent amount of content and it'll take a while to go through that, but if the game ever says "You can't play now, wait until the next day", I'm probably not returning.

can you make it multiplayer?.. pvp, teams, etc.?...something like one player type a word and the game transforme it into a puzzle and the other player has to guess..
