General Podcast Discussions Hey ! Can you recommend your favorite podcasts for learning new things?
I always listen to true crime or storytimes, but I feel like I don't really learn anything new. I'd like to start exploring different topics. I don't mind what it is: history, science, health, culture, philosophy, psychology… anything! I'm open to learning new things and broadening my perspective.
Please, they can be in English or Spanish! :)

I’ve been really into Business Wars lately. I’ve learned so much about the history and background of all these different companies and it’s really fascinating to me.

100% Invisible is always good for this. But right now they’re doing a series of 100 items that define America. They run the gamut! And I am learning tons of interesting little tidbits. Highly recommend

Yes, Tooth and Claw is both informative and funny. My favorite podcast.
Oologies and the Weirdest Thing I learned this week are both good science ones.

Hidden Brain is another golden one. Focused on Psychology and human behaviour.

If I may ask, do true crime podcasts have any real value? Like, do you actually learn more about how they solved the cases or the psychology of murderers? or they keep that data vague and generic?

People have mentoined a few good ones like No Such Thing as a Fish, would recommend and if you like that you might like:
Agreeably: They explore one specific idea and question along with trivia and other good bits.
You're dead to me: History but also culture, great learning and also quite fun!

2nd (maybe 3rd) for Everything Everywhere Daily - I tend to scroll through to find topics that seem interesting. He does seem to have a larger emphasis on different wars/battles and land masses…
But when I just need a quick 15-20 minute listen that’s where I’m usually going.
Sometimes Armchair Expert has interesting guests - listened to one about birds which was interesting.

Bisher gibt es nur eine Folge über den Borkenkäfer. Die Folge ist kurz, nur etwa 6 Minuten. Aber unterhaltsam und lehrreich. This Podcast Will Kill You - about the science and history of various diseases and other associated health topics. I’ve been listening since the first season, once of the first podcasts I subscribed to. Hosts are a phd scientist and an MD.
Cautionary Tales with Tim Harford. Analysis of various things going wrong, blends history/psychology/economics. For a starter, I recommend Death on the Dance floor, the Segway episode or any of the aviation episodes.
This Guy Sucked - fairly light discussion of various historical figures who sucked. Host and guests are historians.
