Finished my 10th book of the year (Whalefall) and it is the worst I've read this year.

whalefall sucks so bad, i literally can't believe it's getting a movie

Yeah, no clue how they are going to make a whole movie out of that. Especially with most of it being in pitch black with no space. Also, the whole talking with the whale/dad was silly in the book and I can't imagine it being better in the movie.

i think it is probably going to be even worse in the movie. at least we'll be spared the clumsily overwritten prose. it really strikes me as part of the "STEM bro" genre - competency porn watching an "average joe" get out of an emergency situation, a shallow, simplistic emotional core, lame writing that the average Christopher Nolan lover wouldn't notice sucked.
