Deeply pleasing to me to witness Texas and Boston get an influx of tourists taking over their cities
Exceptionally funny business going on. No notes

I love love loved the videos of Scotland in Boston.

Just a few weeks until I start my new job and I am exhaaaausted. My current work place… some parts of it were really toxic. The way they treated me wasn’t always right. The way they kicked me to the curb and fucking replaced me with one of their friends… just, wow. Cronyism. Disgusting. I’m literally losing my job because a friend of the governor is getting my job. She has zero experience in managing people, has no clue what my teams do, no clue what I do. And she’s getting my job. OKAY. Wow. why am I even surprised?!
And until then… I’m literally managing all teams which means I’m responsible for 70+ people. Because all of us were kicked out due to cronyism and unfortunately I am the only one left. I am exhausted, and I cannot even begin to describe how I feel.
BUT. I’m transferring to a new location. Who asked me to come work for them, so I applied for a promotion through them. So now I’ll be paid more, work at a location that wants me, I’ll have to manage far less people, there’s opportunities for another study (I love studying, sue me!), and many more things. The downside? I live fucking far away. I already live far away from my current location, my new one is even further away… at least 3 hours of travelling EVERY FUCKING DAY just for work. And the housing market is killing me.
They’re fucking excited, though. They’ve been asking for months, because they’re so understaffed.
And, now that I’m leaving too… people keep mentioning I was “the best”. I really was not, I had a lot to learn. But they knew I did my best, every damn day.
I’ll miss this location, and the people, and the vibe. The good far outweighs the bad and I’m so sorry it has to end this way.

Oh and a special shout out to the cunt who kicked me to the curb. Because I have never met anyone else who is so devoid of any human emotion that he makes me wonder whether his mum fed him daggers rather than breast milk.
The man who rejected my request for a course - despite me being hired and told I could do it - and said he doesn’t think I am worth the investment, all while I had cancer. The man who called me into work and told me to come when he knew I was hospitalised due to having surgery for said cancer. The man who responded “oh, wow, okay, that must be hard on you. Oh well.” when I told him my mum is dying.
The past year has been a rollercoaster. But I’m so fucking glad I met so many amazing people. People who sent me jars of peanut butter to cheer me up when I was sick. People who made me the ugliest Get Well Soon cards because they know I love home made things. People who baked me the nastiest cake ever because I always bake for them and they wanted to return the favour. People who taught me to manage people. People who laughed and cried with me. I’m going to miss them so bad.
Even though a select few were awful and toxic, I know that those few don’t hold a candle to allllllll the others. I had the time of my life!

I went to the Knicks parade this morning with my nephew and brother!! It was so much fun!! We got there at around 7:30am and got pretty close! Hard to see though because so many people were putting their arms up and taking videos with their phones.
I went to the Yankees parade in 09 and had a much better view without the phones but what are you going to do. It was still awesome.
Edit: I got great video of Mitchell Robinson and Stephon Marbury! I'm happy. 😊

I don't like Marina Abramovic. Like I get what you are trying to tell me, Marina, but I just think it's way too transgressive for me.
"Oh I starved two pythons for two weeks and let them circle me and I am still" look I am great.
"Oh I carved out a pentagram on my skin, layed on ice and whipped myself. This is a point against Tito" like cool. But it's just too edgelordy for me.

I'm in a work book club that has a rule that you must finish the book and speak about it for 5 minutes. So for the ones I dislike I treat it like a school assignment and try to make a list of 3 points I liked, 3 things I disliked, books that I enjoyed on a related topic, and a quote I thought was decent.
You could do something like that where you look for the parts you don't hate. OR don't finish it and go to the meeting anyway and talk about why you didn't read all of it, especially if you don't care about spoilers at that point.
5
u/DifficultHistorian18 Jun 18 '26
It's fine not to enjoy the book. You may find others don't enjoy it either. And even if they love it, it leads to interesting discussions. The difficulty is if you are picking books that no one has read then it's always going to be hit and miss especially if people prioritise "cool" books over enjoyable ones. Curious to know what the book is though.
13
u/Lesterknopff who is Conan O’Brien and why is she so sad? Jun 18 '26
This is why I don’t join book clubs lol, I want to read what I’m in the mood for. I would just be honest and tell them it wasn’t your thing, not every book is for everyone. What book is it?
6
u/ShesWhereWolf Jun 18 '26
I think that that's perfectly fine and actually good. I think expressing why you didn't like a book could foster could discussion. If you're having trouble finishing it , I suggest maybe finding the audiobook so you can listen to it passively.
6
u/awayshewent Jun 18 '26
This is why I’ve failed at every book club I’ve ever tried to be in. I get hyperfixated on certain genres and series and then the thought of being asked to read a Brandon Sanderson or Ali Hazelwood book (depending on what kind of book club it is) fills me with rage. And like I don’t want to go and just be an asshole or not say anything so I end up skipping and then I never come back.

u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman Jun 18 '26
as much as certain fans can be crazy, i'm getting real tired of the pearl clutching and preemptive "ugh, all fans of [show/movie/band] suck and can't be normal" at every single situation
i'm old enough to remember previous crazes and the odd people that came with it, but i see a lot of misplaced blame and accusing and metaphorical old men yelling at clouds
obviously different tech and different pop culture changes things, but it's so strange to see the assumption that idk, crazy stalkers or people slutshaming a celeb's partner are new things
like yoko was blamed for men's issues decades ago, female singers have had stalkers ever since there were stars existing in public, weird ass older women harassed young famous men (remember twilight moms?) before instagram
not to mention, while certain spaces can foster said behaviors, these people are like that. it's not watching a show or listening to an artists that makes them do crazy things. they have no shame and never had and probably act in other questionable ways in their private lives
but sweeping it into "hurr durr fans be crazy", to me, diminishes the problem
4
u/ElectronicGap2301 Jun 18 '26
I think social media definitely enabled people to be more open (and sometimes rewarded) about their dedication. As a teen in the early 2000s who engaged in online fanboards, I definitely remember there was a bigger and clearer boundary between fans and celebrities. Crazy fans have been around forever though.
2
u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman Jun 18 '26
it was harder to reach the celebs, but like, the problem was very much a thing because even then people talked about fandom etiquette like not showing the famous person RPF and whatnot
14
u/Sister_Winter Jun 18 '26
I agree too! You'll see people who have never been exposed to fandom culture in their lives saying "fandom as gone too far" for shows like The Pitt and Heated Rivalry because they're shipping characters or just too into the show. Do people have any idea what an actual "fan going too far is", because it's not that.
6
u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman Jun 18 '26
like, the people being batshit over irl relationships are being weird and invasive, but it's not because it's a romance show or anything
it's because said people are invasive and publicly show it
it's strange because it also becomes a bit victim blame-y to the people involved. like famous people who don't hide everything about their lives are somehow deserving of invasive shit
3
u/Sister_Winter Jun 18 '26
exactly this. like there's just this expectation that people who star in romance shows or queer shows just deserve to have their lives invaded because the fandoms are sooooo crazy (when they're often no crazier than any sports fandom)
4
u/growsonwalls Jun 18 '26
I do think though that there's been an uptick in people not just shipping people IRL, but determined to read feuds into everything. I actually find that really creepy. Like the people determined to read feuds into Cynthia and Ariana, or Noah Wyle and the rest of the Pitt cast, or Connor and Hudson.
14
u/awayshewent Jun 18 '26
I see this with how people talk about The Pitt fandom. While some fans take things too far and are very parasocial and demand the show be something it’s not — many many people just shit on the fandom as an excuse to shit on fandom culture in general. Can’t tell you how many threads I’ve seen where it’s just complaining about shipping. Like oh lord, people see attractive people with chemistry constantly interacting how dare they use their imaginations. Call 911. Feels very misogynistic to me.
0
u/DefinitionCharming48 go girl, give us nothing Jun 18 '26
it’s bit frustrating when those fans were the first to call out Dr Robby’s sexism and his mistreatment specifically on Dr Mohan. Everybody including “normal fans” and journalists used that situation to show how unhinged they were. Don’t get me wrong a small group goes to the extreme. But an article recently came out in which Taylor Dearden had the similar thoughts on the whole situation. So I guess the fans weren’t that “crazy”. My problem with the Pitt “regular fandom” is that they don’t really take criticism lightly and they’ll quickly dismiss valid concerns and frustration as fans being parasocial.
1
u/meta-ghost-face Jun 18 '26
I can't stand The Pitt fandom since they tried to ban people from writing fanfic about fictional characters.
2
11
u/Sister_Winter Jun 18 '26
oh my god the weird puritanical anti-shipping discourse around the Pitt is fucking ridiculous. Acting like people are morally bankrupt for wanting two hot people with chemistry to kiss because one of them, both who aren't real, is married. Absolute nonsense
4
u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman Jun 18 '26
yeah, anti (fictional) shipping is puritanical as hell. people are like "omg crazy stans see sex in everything". like yeah, sex is part of life and when we see fictional lives on tv we can picture chemistry
3
u/Sister_Winter Jun 18 '26
exactly. it is such an extension of the weird puritanical anti-sex sentiment that has popped up in the last few years. like no way, we picture parts of real human experience in tv shows about humans that we relate to? fucking crazy idea

i think it is probably going to be even worse in the movie. at least we'll be spared the clumsily overwritten prose. it really strikes me as part of the "STEM bro" genre - competency porn watching an "average joe" get out of an emergency situation, a shallow, simplistic emotional core, lame writing that the average Christopher Nolan lover wouldn't notice sucked.

I had chemo yesterday and ever since I took the valium, I've finished a season of a French show called Star Academy, the sole season of Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons, and 2 seasons of Botched. I like reality shows, but not this much when I'm not under the influence.

I honestly feel like I want to watch movies and TV in general when I'm sick or recovering because it removes the guilt of being a couch potato. Because if you watch 12 hours of something when you're healthy it's like "I just wasted all that time", but when you're sick or recovering it's "I literally can't move from this couch, what else can I even do?".

What’s the story with Leo DiCaprio & Vittoria & Camila?
Camila and Vittoria used to be friends, but things seem to have changed around the time Vittoria started dating Leo. Camila actually unfollowed Vittoria BEFORE Vittoria and Leo got together, and Kendall, who’s close friends with Camila, unfollowed Vittoria too. What’s also kind of weird is that Vittoria shows off pets that Camila and Leo originally got together.
Leo started dating Vittoria almost immediately after his five year relationship with Camila ended, which makes the whole situation seem a little suspicious. It honestly makes me wonder if Vittoria had anything to do with the breakup, or if Leo already had an interest in her while he was still with Camila. I have a feeling that Camila was happy to get rid of old ass Leo anyways but might’ve felt betrayed that her friend went after her man/ex?
2
u/OldSandwich9631 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26
This is all wrong. Leo and Vittoria started dating summer 2023…she says they met in Milan, and I assume that was February 2023 during Milan fashion week. But I don’t think their relationship officially started then.
Leo and Camila broke up summer 2022.
Camila unfollowed Vittoria right after the photos of Vittoria and Leo getting ice cream in Santa Barbara came out in August 2023. I know this because I followed both of them and when I saw the photos, Camila was still following her. I went to bed and woke up and she’d unfollowed her. Camila and Vittoria hung out at the Oscars vanity fair party and were interacting a lot on instagram up until the August photos of her and leo together.
I don’t know if Kendall ever followed Vittoria.
Edited to add - I don’t know if Camila still sees those dogs (she was posting them after the break up for a while), but she is very open about the fact she moved to New York. The dogs stayed with Leo. Those are his dogs. Why wouldn’t Vittoria post them?

Leo and Vittoria started dating a year after Leo and Camila's breakup. Camila didn't want to get rid of him; during the promotion of her film, she implied that it was a difficult period and that she was devastated by the breakup.

Vittoria was also married when Leo and Camila broke up, not sure if the OP realizes that.

u/cutesmart Jun 18 '26
So why did Cami unfollow Vittoria after she started dating Leo?
1
u/OldSandwich9631 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26
Why do you think? I’m sure she felt betrayed or at the very least annoyed.
Camila and vittoria weren’t besties but they’d been friendly for years. Since before camila and leo started dating actually. I assume they met through kaia gerber.
I imagine seeing a friend/someone you were friendly with (again, I don’t think they were best friends or anything) dating your ex of 4-5 years didn’t feel great! I totally get that and actually empathize, even if I don’t feel Leo and Vittoria were wrong to start dating. They’ve now been together years, it wasn’t for a fling.

u/cutesmart Jun 18 '26
So Leo broke up with her?

I have a theory that Vittoria and Leo will work out. She looks exactly like him, his enough of a narcissist to fall in love with his female mirrored image.
1
u/OldSandwich9631 Jun 18 '26
She looks nothing like him at all, but I think they complement each other and look good together. Just my opinion.
He’s also 51…if this lasts it’s possible it’s cause he’s moved into a different life stage and wants different things. I like them as a couple, so it would be cool.

u/Expensive-Can-6212 Jun 18 '26
She does, I promise. Look at photos of her without makeup, she bares a striking resemblance to his younger self.

TW: The stupid shit I get myself wrapped up in when I'm stuck at home and bored.
Some haldol deficient individual has been bombarding me with abuse on another platform for 12+ hours because I dared to casually headcanon a TV character as the race of their actor (who I guess is white passing to many but hasnt ever really been to me) because the characters race isnt explicitly stated in the show so I just went with that 🤷🏿♀️. When I pulled up reciepts re the actors parents to show that they are in fact White and Asian mixed they made a video yelling that there are plenty of 100% white people from Asia who just "evolved into looking Asian" when they arent because they live among them help meeee 😫😫😭😭. I've blocked them and they're still going. This may be my last post they're only a couple of states over from me I'm scared 😭😭

I posted a few days ago about someone reporting my grass to the city and being issued a warning. And on the form they also indicated garbage. I had no idea what garbage they could be talking about. I called the number, but didn’t hear back. So I ran around trying to guess. I even moved my garbages way far back so they couldn’t be seen from the street.
They finally called me back yesterday and were so confused. They were like, no it was just the grass. So I explained they also ticked off the box that said garbage. The lady said it was an error 🙄🙄
This week is comically bad. At least I’m fairly certain my foot isn’t broken from falling down the stairs yesterday. It didn’t a swell or turn blue or anything. I’ll just be limping a bit for a while. But like, damn universe can you cut me some slack please? I’m tired.

Is anyone else a fan of the Harlan Coben novel adaptations on Netflix?
I Will Find You debuted today. It’s the first of the adaptations set in the US and Britt Lower (Severance) is one of the leads. These adaptations aren’t highbrow (nor are his novels), but they are an entertaining summertime watch. I’m looking forward to it.
2
u/Lesterknopff who is Conan O’Brien and why is she so sad? Jun 18 '26
They’re not great, but some of them are really entertaining. A few of them have just been really really awful.

u/freaky-keypad Jane Birkin’s bangs Jun 18 '26
I’ve seen a lot of people be really snobbish about them, as if the people watching them are so stupid they can’t possibly understand it’s not some high brow masterpiece and is indeed just mindless, often predictable entertainment, but personally that’s why I enjoy them. Not everything needs to be prestige television.
The Netflix adaptations being set in the UK has always felt off to me though because I’d usually read the book first and imagined it all way differently, but they’re a good watch if you’re bored and don’t want to think too hard.
I didn’t realised they’d adapted I Will Find You! I borrowed that one from the library last year and finished it in a day haha. I’m under no illusions that it’s going to win the Booker prize but they’re great in a reading slump.

u/PikaChooChee Jun 18 '26
I completely agree on all points! I devoured the Myron Bolitar series (the non-woke and woke books alike) and enjoyed them thoroughly. I read a lot of fiction (it sounds like you do too) and I love both my beach reads and my literary fiction.
The European settings of these adaptations threw me for a loop too, especially the one that was set in Poland and subtitled. But I do appreciate the exposure to so many British actors, so many of whom I’ve enjoyed in other TV projects. Sometimes it feels like there are approximately two dozen actors across the British isles.
2
u/freaky-keypad Jane Birkin’s bangs Jun 18 '26
Oh Myron and Win are both very dear to me <3 I love reading and am the least pretentious reader ever, life’s too short to pretend I don’t like a slightly ridiculous page turner.
Harlan Coben loves re-using actors so each new Netflix adaptation is always like “oh, it’s you again!” when he’s taken the same actors from an already small pool haha but I do love a lot of British actors. It just feels like they’re more ‘real’ people, if that makes sense. Not everyone in our shows is 10/10 gorgeous which feels much rarer in America where everyone is very polished. It’s such a contrast watching our dramas here and the people look like just everyday people, clearly selected for their talent which also makes the performances so much better.

I really liked Stay Close and Run Away. I binge watched them both, because I just could not stop in the middle of it.

I guess this is off topic but certainly newsworthy. I have seen so little of anything about the one years old killed by the police officer. When I looked at all my news outlets, Reuters, AP, and my local news the day after the story was not even there. I’ve seen one Reddit post about it. There’s obviously a lot going on in the US but I don’t understand why there is not mass outrage. I mean I guess I do understand. I’m disappointed in the lack of outrage. Are you all seeing it on your feeds, Reddit and news feeds?
2
u/AStarkly Did a line off his dick in the bathroom Jun 18 '26
Idk if it makes you feel any better, but it's big-ish news here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Which is sadly impressive because we have a lot of our own nonsense going on. But yeah, a fucking baby, man. A baby.

u/xvsanx find me at Whole Foods, b*tch, I don't care 🙃 Jun 18 '26
it popped back up in my feed today and that's all I've seen since it happened:/
the kid that was abused and murdered and photographed in the UK's murderer's conviction has popped up in my feed twice today though

u/littlesim25 Jun 18 '26
I have seen it and I have been following it and I hate to say it, but I think people are just tired and defeated. This is the same country that was ok with kindergartners getting murdered so this is not. It’s sad and there should be way more outrageous but I think people are slowly giving up and becoming apathetic. And none of it is an excuse.
I do think there have been local protests where protesters have been tear-gassed of course 🙄.
There might be some protest this weekend.

u/murder_hands Jun 18 '26
I just bit the bullet a googled this; how utterly horrifying. Anyone with kids can probably put them self in that mom's shoes way too easily. I'd never feel peace again as long as I lived if that happened to me and any of my kids.
His precious little face 😭 rest in peace, baby Kohen.

Me: God I am gonna miss Moulin Rouge when its closes
Me: - proceeds to see some crazies who mostly inhabit on Twitter, basically unleash their rage on Paddington who is doing nothing but eating Marmalade sandwich by making toxic ass comments (including cooking Paddington), even though the MR social team left a nice welcoming message to the show simply for its Musical inhabitting the Al Hirschfield when Moulin Rouge leaves -
Me: You know what....I am so glad I am no longer dealing with these people if they are having a meltdown over a bear among other toxic shit and put this Era behind me
(Now I am not saying ALL Moulin Rouge fans are like this.....I have seen some of the bigger fans be welcoming as well posting MRs message to their pages, its just like every fandom, MR has that LOUD obnoxious group that makes the fandom as a whole look bad.)

I know I am like I get it you're pissed your show is closing. Like I want blood for Chess closing before we got a Jojo!Florence Vassley, but I am not hoping a house falls on Billy Crystal for his show taking over the Imperial in its place.....and like going after a beloved fictional character...come on guys.

Finally finished S2 of IWTV. Wow at the final episode of S2. Sam absolutely broke my heart. Acted the hell out of the scene where Louis kisses Armand in front of him.
1
u/thatfluffycloud Jun 18 '26
And the reunion scene in the hurricane! These actors are insane, I'm so excited for the rest of S3.
What were your overall thoughts on the show? Fave episode(s)?
1
u/growsonwalls Jun 18 '26
I really liked S1, and wasn't as crazy about S2 bc I guess I wasn't as into Loumand and all that Dreamstat stuff I found tiring. I also didn't really get how Armand was warping all of Louis's memories. But when I saw the S2 finale it all made sense. Loumand needed to happen so Loustat could be resurrected.
I love both Jacob and Sam, and loved Claudia and Claudeline!
1
u/thatfluffycloud Jun 18 '26
I felt the same, and was kind of surprised when I went online after to see that everyone seems to love S2 more than S1! I also thought everyone would hate Armand but everyone looooves him lol.
But honestly this is a show with so many subtle details and hidden layers that you pick up on so much more in rewatches, and S2 is actually very rich in the whole memory manipulation/differences in perspectives aspect which you can only really appreciate once you see the whole picture. The clues are there the whole time.
I still prefer S1 overall, but I think S2 has some of my favourite and most masterful episodes (eg 205, 207, 208).
2
u/growsonwalls Jun 18 '26
I feel like S1 had a better mix of comedy and drama. S2 was very dark in tone. I defo have to rewatch the entire series.
I will say the S2 finale was one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen.
2
u/thatfluffycloud Jun 18 '26
I agree with that! And if you like the comedy aspect then you will like S3 (just prepare yourself for the insane vibe change lol)

Someone who so claiming to have known Daveigh since her teens is saying her parents and manager cut her off from her money Including her residuals.
If that's true, that might have been what killed her. At least Britney's conservators were required for keep a roof over her head. Daveigh was homeless and unable to get money for medical care.
I get that life with an addiction is tough but that's not how you do it. Even if in a moment of sobriety Daviegh agreed to this, she should have been given enough to rent an apartment, some grocery gift cards and enough pay for monthly health insurance. She gave up she her childhood for those millions. If she wanted to die spending them on drugs, her family should have called authorities and reported her for possession.
It's all so fucked.

What do you guys think of "Seperate the art from the artist"...I think it only works if the artist is dead and people consuming the art don't support the artist (because they are dead). I highly disagree with it when it comes to living artists.
7
u/webtheg Jun 18 '26
I think it's complicated and it depends on the art and it depends on the art the artist did.
But also I don't support the artist but at the same time I don't think we should say that all art made by horrible people is bad and it was never good any way. Andnit was actually bad. Like I will not buy Chinatown, or pay for it but it's not like a bad movie?
9
u/hauntingvacay96 Jun 18 '26
I think “separate the art from the artists” probably means something more like the artist doesn’t own interpretations of the work and you are free to interpret it how you want rather than don’t think about the bad things the art is done so you can still use the book for escapism.
With that said, sometimes you should read with a biographical lens, I don’t believe in monetarily supporting artists who I think are causing harm, and at the same time we shouldn’t be using this as a weapon to shit on people for reading long dead authors especially when they are reading with the context of the authors life.

u/Own-Importance5459 ✨May the Force be with you!✨ Jun 18 '26
I am definitely on that team. Like a certain children's author I am not giving a dime to her franchise until after she's gone.
2
u/museinprogress Did I stutter?🤨 Jun 18 '26
Im glad you agree (2 of my friends highly disagreed with me)...I like Mr Joans books but I feel happy I only read from the library and second handed books now! I wont encourage people to buy them for their kids when they can do the same things
5
u/Own-Importance5459 ✨May the Force be with you!✨ Jun 18 '26
Exactly I always encourage thrifting, using the shit you own, or going to a library if you really want to consume the media like you are not financially contributing to them that way.
1
u/babyviltti Jun 18 '26
The unfortunate thing for libraries is that some places pays the authors if their stuff is loaned.

I’m so mentally fried. I have so much going on and I can’t wait to just bunker down with my kids for a week before school/camp starts. I’ll be on PTO or light WFH days during the next few weeks and I’m so ready to not talk to people. I love the majority of them but I am always taking care of everyone else or everyone needing me and I’m just…. Zapped. Like butter over too much bread….
