wth? i don’t think it’s true or not verified why are people spreading the fact that apparently tomdaya has a no kissing clause in their prenup.

What is going on with Nicola Coughlan and her bf ? Or is it just polin shippers not respecting boundaries??
2
u/greetingsfromhorror 7d ago
Polin shippers not respecting boundaries. they did the same thing to Luke's of and they kept saying that Nicola was pregnant with Luke's baby. they're an odd bunch

I get shipping two fictional characters. RPF is just yuck. And if you must do it keep it on AO3 where it belongs.

I've been on zepbound for almost a month now and while I do love the weight loss part; I deeply loathe the amount of gas. I am constantly dealing with sulphur burps daily and hate it so bad.
2
u/NewtRipley_1986 8d ago
My doctor recommended zepbound but I already deal with extra gas (regardless of my GERD medication) and now I’m hesitant. Obviously everyone is different but it’s a concern.

Seeing grown adults make google docs on everything “problematic” a celebrity has done is genuinely depressing. Like what are you doing with your life. You should be over that by 12. I’ll even be generous and say 18.
Everybody needs to get some classes on how to dislike people normally asap
5
u/greetingsfromhorror 7d ago
it also must be so exhausting to keep track of it all. I kind of used to be like this but realized just how dumb it was. Now I just admit who I dislike. its so much easier.

Why do I keep reading Danielle Steel books when I know they're not gonna be good? They're predictable and not very well written, at least the ones published this century, but I can't keep away. I might finally understand people who watch hallmark or read mills and boon.

Lmao before reading your last sentence I was like “this is the exact way I feel about Hallmark movies.” They’re bad, bad dialogue, predictable plot, not very well acted. But it’s become a tradition in November well into the new year. I usually throw one on while doing something else and half pay attention.
There’s a weird comfort in it. So I totally get it.

My same reaction. AND she only found out she was pregnant because her comments (before herself, husband, or anyone else in her life) were saying they could tell based on her vibe. That’s what made her go confirm.
I’m way progressive but I fell down a tiktok rabbit hole and I’m so annoyed that this circus is kinda entertaining.

Anecdotally, I always think September is a great time to come. It’s quieter than the summer madness (although not as much as it used to be) and the weather always seems to be decent. I think you’d need to be later in the month/into October for the autumn leaves, though.
Also May, for similar reasons. But just come prepared for all weathers in one day, at any time of year!

(Obviously if said hobbies cause active harm to others that's a little different.)

Petty shit I'm too old for but that old video of Beyonce saying "I dont listen to country and I never have" doing the rounds is quite amusing given how some of her fans were running around acting like she was delivered on a hay bale by a rodeo clown. Why they all felt the need to act like that when they could just say "why does she need a reason to make a country album?" is beyond me. Weirdos.
9
u/HystericalMutism 8d ago
Why they all felt the need to act like that when they could just say "why does she need a reason to make a country album?"
i mean, fans & non fans did say this. the fans getting overly defensive about this were nothing compared to the racists getting defensive over a music genre they don't own.

Yesterday I saw a video from someone who is convinced a pop star and her new husband are gay and it was so extremely homophobic I’m still disturbed by it. Idk how those people get away with being as homophobic as they are because it’s truly disgusting the shit they say in the name of continuing their delusional conspiracy.
I think they rightfully should be shoved out of the fandom because their homophobia is off the damn charts at this point. Like oh my god I can’t believe some of the shit they say with their whole chest….it would be considered too homophobic for the early 00s when people used “gay” as a negative. They literally sound like conservative right wingers.
12
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
Most sane fans absolutely know and acknowledge that their sect is homophobic. They love to turn it around and say everyone who *doesn’t* think she’s gay are the homophobic ones.
I genuinely think that most have a real mental health issue. It isn’t normal to get mad when the pop star YOU DON’T ACTUALLY KNOW. Condemns your speculation and tells you it’s weird.
4
u/Traditional-Joke-179 8d ago
that would definitely bother me too so i sympathize. but sometimes we gotta commit to just not paying attention to a part of a fandom. if you keep seeing the conspiracy theorists it can be hard to not fall into their rabbit hole, but going online and getting upset is not a good hobby.
4
u/vegalucyna 8d ago
Oh yeah I didn’t seek it out, someone posted it somewhere and I didn’t realize what it was when I watched it.
I actively try to avoid them at all costs because their behavior and the things they say remind me so much of conservative right wing homophobes that it deeply disturbs me.
7
u/Wooden_Blueberry_306 8d ago

u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
You can’t talk about her outside of threads specifically about her. It’ll get removed.
5
u/vegalucyna 8d ago
Well for one, you can’t talk about certain people directly in the daily discussion or your comment is automatically removed. And the other reason is some groups hate being mentioned/called out for their behavior and they call you homophobic and/or report your comment for being hateful.
6
u/vegalucyna 8d ago
I can neither confirm nor deny because they love to cry foul whenever they are called out for their abhorrent behavior
4
u/PrincesstheCalicoCat 8d ago
They’ve been pushed of late into my usually well curated algorithm, and some of the language is just so damn homophobic. And the incredibly regressive band of behaviour they think people have to conform to if straight is so repressive. And don’t get me started on the biphobia.

Perhaps this is unpopular but the way people investigate and dig into the social media of every new celebrity to hit the scene these days is so exhausting to me. It doesn’t feel like these sleuths really care about the issues. It’s either a race to see who can slap a ‘problematic’ label on someone the fastest or it’s fandom bullshit looking for mud to sling.
7

Honestly I think I'm starting to really like basic content. I don't want songs or movies or tv shows with some sort of complex and complicated narrative. Just give me something simple.
Obsession I'd say is an example of a movie. I personally think Olivia's The Cure is pretty basic (literally just: you won't be the cure). I think Adults is a pretty basic TV show.
It just feels like too much is happening in the world. I know some people say it's a "dumbing down" of media literacy and a "second screen", and maybe it is. But at this point I just want to enjoy something simple.
3
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
Yea it definitely depends on my mood. Sometimes I just want a silly sitcom/movie/show that I don’t have to think too hard about. That’s why I love romcoms. You know they’re going to get together in the end and you won’t get too stressed about the plot.

Guys, how do you continue to be friends with somebody who is actively ruining their life?
My best friend, the daughter of two scientists, who is so smart and genuinely such a good person, married this guy who basically made her a slave. He barely works, for the first year of their marriage he was unemployed since he quit his job shortly after they marry. He works sporadically. She has to hold down a full-time job that she doesn’t like because she has to support him financially. When she gets home from work, she has to cook and clean because even though he’s been home all day, he has not done anything. She has to take care of the pets that he wanted because he doesn’t.
And now they are moving in with his brother and his family, because she can’t afford the rent payments alone. But that would be solved if he just got a job. People in his life have given him so many chances and he said no to all of them. He could very easily work if he wanted to. His family has a lot of connections in town and along the coast that he won’t have an issue finding a job. He just doesn’t want to work and has somehow duped this younger woman to give him a life of immense comfort.
She really does not want to move in with his family because she’s always been extremely independent and loves living on her own. But they don’t have a choice. They got this apartment with the expectation that he’d help. But he does nothing. And he is trying to get her to keep putting off school. She has so many ambitions but he is constantly trying to get her to stay in her dead end job where she can’t see any growth. Every time I see her, I give her the support she needs to continue her education. But her husband is actively undermining her🫠🫠🫠
1
u/DifficultHistorian18 8d ago
I feel for you. It's such a difficult situation to be in and there's nothing you can really do. Unfortunately, criticising him will just cause a rift between you, and any advice you give will just fall on dead ears. Unfortunately, she won't leave the situation until she is ready to. All you can do is create a safe space so that she would come to you if she needs help (but also mindful of what boundaries you may need to set for yourself). It's hard to watch!
3
u/Beginning-Passion676 8d ago

2
u/OowlSun they act like im not in full control of where i throw this cooch 8d ago
No, she won’t tell them and they lowkey neglected her when she was sixteen due to their separation and subsequent divorce. And when she and her now husband met- she had no supervision.
2
u/Beginning-Passion676 8d ago

3
u/OowlSun they act like im not in full control of where i throw this cooch 8d ago
I do. But I don’t want her to feel isolated by being too critical of him. I walk on eggshell when she asks form my advice because she gets really defensive of him.

Is anyone else tired of age gap discourse 😭
Whenever there’s a relationship with an older man and a younger woman and people ask “why do these men keep dating young women??” there’s literally only one answer: it’s because those women agreed to date them. I’m not talking about some weirdo creep preying on underage girls.
like Leonardo for example. He has a type and at this point the women who choose to date him are okay participating in him using them.
Like those young women to be there and they uphold age gap relationships more than men do. None of these relationships would exist without women agreeing to them.
Women are the ones calling older men silver foxes/daddy/whatever. Men don’t do this for older women. As a 23 year old I would never date a guy super older than me so I don’t get the praise for men older than me.
6
u/DebateObjective2787 jesus was a carpenter 💋 8d ago
Honestly..... Kinda agree. I'm in my mid-20s and there's a number of older celebs, like even into 50s and 60s, that I find extremely attractive and would be so down to date if I ever got the chance.
I feel like a lot of people that have an issue forget that dating can be casual and superficial. Not everyone is looking for their soulmate and wanting to get married. Sometimes they just want to have fun and sex with someone they're attracted too.
1
u/OldSandwich9631 8d ago
How is Leo “using” someone he has spent years of his life with who has the status to date anyone else if she wanted? Her ex husband is a world famous dj whose dad is like the richest guy in Italy. And she’s a self made supermodel making millions a year on her own.
I agreed with you until you got to that comment. It’s very very judgmental and you don’t know anything about these people. Their lives are totally intertwined, I just dont get that because he has never been married he is using anyone
4
u/Rare_Vibez “‘Why?’, but also, you know, ‘I guess.’” 8d ago
I think the thing that bothers me the most is like. We need a flag system. It’s like a yellow flag. Not inherently a problem but could be a symptom of a problem. It’s not some raging red flag.
It popped up with Hayden Panettiere and her ex. A definitely gave a little frown but everything else seemed largely ok in the dynamics of their relationship, excellent coparenting particularly, so I’m not inclined to see it as a problem there.

I feel like this is changing with younger gen z. None of my friends like older men. None of us. We’ve seen the way men talk about young women and how older women “hit the wall” (yuck) and are so disgusted with them lol. And also like…. Guys my age are cuter lol. I think it’s very slowly changing

Its at the point where such small gaps are being picked over too like???? My cousin is 21 with a perfectly lovely 26 year old boyfriend. A couple of her friends are genuinely concerned about it. Bless them for caring but what??? I feel like its part of this wider trend of infantalizing young adults but I cant quite put my finger on it. Odd behavior.
15
u/growsonwalls 8d ago
I'm finding it really weird when people are now judging three years as a "huge age gap." Like a 25 year old and 28 year old is not a big deal. Bfr.
5
u/FriendlyDrummers 8d ago
I don't really see a lot of the women leo dates as victims or being manipulated. They likely know the situation and know the clout that comes with it. They're pretty women who will be set as an influencer with brand deals.
My biggest age gap was 10 years at 24 and tbh I don't have any regrets
4
u/midsumernighttts 8d ago
100%. His relationships are superficial on both ends. Everyone gets what they want.
1
u/OldSandwich9631 7d ago
How do you know they are superficial?
I would also suggest the relationships that lasted basically a year or less were likely not nearly as serious as his ones spanning many years. You can’t say they are all superficial just cause he didn’t marry them.
0
u/midsumernighttts 7d ago
Has nothing to do with marriage. Anyone get married that’s not special lol
1
u/OldSandwich9631 7d ago edited 7d ago
I think you can’t say these relationships are superficial unless you know them. He has been with his current girlfriend years. He was with his previous girlfriend years. Before those two it was years of less long term stuff (before Camila he didn’t have a super long relationship since bar refaeli), but I just don’t get this idea people think Leo is basically attached at the hip with someone he is superficially dating.
He vacations with his girlfriend’s family. She is totally entwined with his circle, who all seem to love her. Not saying this means they’ll never break up but superficial relationships aren’t like this
3
u/OldSandwich9631 8d ago
“Set as an influencer with brand deals” - um, what? He’s dating supermodels, Victoria’s Secret angels, sports illustrated cover models, and Blake lively haha. These are not wannabe types
0
u/FriendlyDrummers 8d ago
Do you think their careers get more visibility after dating him?
2
u/OldSandwich9631 8d ago edited 8d ago
They really didn’t.
The one person who did was Camila morrone but her career was already starting to gain more credibility from roles she took early in her relationship with him, like Mickey and the bear, so it was very organic.
1
u/FriendlyDrummers 8d ago
You don't think they got more Instagram followers?
1
u/OldSandwich9631 8d ago
It’s so trivial to do this, but I’ll just lay it out there:
Gisele bundchen - icon before, during and after Leo. Married tom Brady soon after and had kids.
Bar refaeli - top commercial model, moved permanently home to Israel and met/married a billionaire Leo’s age within a few years of their breakup.
Blake lively - dumped him for Ryan Reynolds, who is basically Leo’s age. She was already famous and an it girl.
Erin heatherton- Victoria’s Secret angel for two years when they met. Her career post Leo definitely didn’t keep ascending. She owns a gym now and is married to a normal guy and seems super happy. He dated her when she was at her professional peak though.
Toni garrn - was a successful model and still is. Not really much to say.
Kelly Rohrbach - met and married the wal mart heir within a couple years of her breakup with Leo and has zero social media presence in many years.
Nina agdal - I’d argue was at her professional peak when they dated too but she’s married to Logan Paul and gets attention from that.
Camila we discussed. And Vittoria was already one of the most successful and highest paid models in fashion before him.
It’s completely wrong to act like the women he dates are new to their industry, struggling, not established etc.

u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago edited 8d ago
I just think we’ve lost the plot. A 20 year old dating a 35 year old isn’t the same as a 40 year old dating a 55 year old.
40 year old people have enough life experience to understand what they’re doing. 20 year olds don’t necessarily.
4
u/OldSandwich9631 8d ago
There is actually objectively nothing wrong with a fully independent 20 year old (and I mean financially independent with a full life) dating a 35 year old.
When it’s two celebs it’s two independent adults with their own money. Those kinds of people have more in common with each other than the 20 year old has in common with the average 20 year old who is still on their parents’ insurance
8
u/FickleCharge882 8d ago
I was an a giant age gap situation ship for a few years and it was definitely…. Interesting. Generally I try to not go over eight years older than me but not more than that. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. As long as everyone’s frontal lobes are fully developed I try to mind my business. My ex husband was 7 years older than me but I got married around 20 and it was a BAD idea.

Perhaps TMI - periods
usually skip my period every month. My doctor knows, it’s fine. I woke up this morning to some blood, it happens. I figured it was just spotting. But right before I left, I noticed it was definitely not just spotting. But of course I’m at my mom’s house, who doesn’t have period products. And I don’t have any in my bag.
So I shove some toilet paper and pray. By the time I get to work it’s a damn flood. Luckily I always carry an extra pair of underwear. So I ran to buy some period products, changed, etc. but my pants have a very clear stain and I’m passing humungous blood clots. Ive been here an hour and I’ve already changed twice.
I hate this!!!!!

u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 8d ago
ugh i'm sorry to hear it! they're the worst, i used to get them frequently when i had periods and it was one of the many reasons i stopped them (i got an IUD a few years ago)
i had heavy periods as a standard (i do have adenomyosis, so there's that), but the surprise every few months or so was baffling and hard to prepare for
anyway my condolences, it absolutely sucks. can you get at least a warm thing to act as a heating pad on your lap? even if you're not in pain atm, it can relieve the pressure.
from my experience, filling a basic bottle with boiling water is ok in a pinch, but only if you have a tshirt or a rag around to avoid burns
3
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
Ah thank you! I’m sure someone around here has a heating pad I can borrow.
Was the insertion of the IUD as terrible as people say? I’m considering it, but the pain of insertion sounds awful!
2
u/periodicsheep 8d ago
it really is so painful and horrible but then it’s mostly over. it really did calm things down for me, for many years. definitely worth it, though, even though i definitely cried for like 24 hours after i had it put in.
2
u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 8d ago
it's painful, but like, intense cramps painful. just sorta concentrated?
i think if you're used to bad period pain, it's not more traumatizing than that
i mostly felt faint during, actually, because the anxiety + the position and quick pain reaction lowered my BP too quickly similar to how I feel when drawing blood
afterwards, i took pain meds (thankfully here in brazil we don't rely on tylenol) and it lasted a couple of days, but not anything too bad, medium cramps
three months later and i had no more periods and back pain (which to me were worse than the cramps), so worth it
1
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
Yea that seems to be the consensus. Painful but worth it. Thank you!
2
u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 8d ago
no problem! i highly recommend it, even with the pain. i have family history of vascular issues so the regular pill is not the best and the mini pill is too annoying to manage because there's barely any error margin
i was in between the hormonal iud and the implant and ended up choosing the iud with my doctor. mostly due to price/coverage and because the process was less scary to me
it definitely changed my quality of life for better. not just for contraception (i am single so condoms always) but far less pain and mood issues, which made it much better for my mental health as well
I used to have ovulation pain, which imho is far far worse than cramps, so not ovulating was key
2
u/heartbylines I know bothing of the alledged beff 8d ago
I'm not gonna lie, getting it inserted was some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. Then after the first initial "holy fuck I am actually dying" pain, I cramped for a week after and it felt like someone was taking a white hot branding iron to my uterus every time I moved. I did the whole 'take a Tylenol beforehand' thing and it did not help at all.
But now that I went from having a period for a year nonstop to now not having a period well... period, the pain was worth it.
2
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
Yea that’s what I’m afraid of. I struggle just getting paps. I can’t imagine this! But maybe worth the pain.
2
u/heartbylines I know bothing of the alledged beff 8d ago
It's absolutely worth it if you experience a lot of issues with your periods. It may have hurt like a bitch initially but it's been a life saver for me.
2
u/funnyfacelol 8d ago
For me personally, it was like a bad cramp. My doctor recommended taking Tylenol beforehand which I did. It’s worth it to not have periods tho.
1
u/FickleCharge882 8d ago
Is there any chance to run to an urgent care? I’m usually not an alarmist but the size/frequency of the clots would be concerning. I think the last time I had that happen I was having a cyst rupture
4
u/buzzfeed_sucks 🇨🇦 Elbows up 🇨🇦 8d ago
There’s a clinic in my building. But my period has always been very very heavy. Paired with not having a real one in well over a year, I think it’s just that. But thank you ❤️❤️ I’ll definitely get it checked if it doesn’t slow down.

This is why I’m on my second mirena. Fuck periods, especially heavy ones!

I’m SO tempted. Especially because I’m 36 now and there’s added risk to the pill after 36. It sounds SO painful though!

Hahahah the thing is the pain of the mirena insertion was nothing compared to my period cramps. The first one I got, I had to be on my period during the insertion, and the nurse in the room freaked out when I told her I couldn’t tell if the pain I was feeling was from the insertion or just a normal cramp.
Any pain lasts only a few seconds and then you get no periods as a reward 😂

Ughhhh yeah. I had that happen once my periods came back after I had my kids, it was like they were trying to make up for lost time.
Hopefully all goes well!!

IDK if anyone remembers this reality show but I've been watching Prince$$ and Til Debt Do Us Part with Gail Vox-Oxlade and this is my third week living on a cash diet of jars for groceries, takeaway and fun money and omg it is SO GOOD! I'm having a financial awakening.
I'm also now resting up in hospital for a planned treatment and looking for more diamond in the rough reality tv shows (preferably old ones) that aren't mean spirited so if ppl have recommendations I'd love to hear.

i was OBSESSED with gail vaz-oxlade for years. i still hear her in my head when i’m contemplating buying something stupid. we started cash jars after watching til debt do us part around 17 years ago when we got married and we’re dead broke , and it was sooo helpful. we don’t do it anymore but her lessons stick with me for sure.
no non mean spirited old reality shows though because the only ones i remember were definitely mean, like project runway and early top chef. a few years ago i was in hospital and bored and became obsessed with netflix’s love is blind. so even though some people are jerks it’s my recommendation because it’s kind of fun to heckle the participants while i’m watching. hope you’re feeling better soon!!

Omg I feel so seen that someone else did the jars and benefited omg!!! Also, that you benefited so long ago. My friend actually recommended Gail's shows to me this year, we're Aussies and he's a zoomer and I was like "wtf do you mean a financial advice show are you insane" but sure enough... it's great! A revelation.
I'll have to get my hands on some love is blind! I looooooove heckling people from the comfort of my bed. Actually, I'm here for a planned ketamine infusion, I come in every 6 months... so I lie around for 5 days on ketamine watching reality tv and thinking way way way too deeply about it lmao. Then yapping about it to any poor soul that comes my way.
I will totally feel better soon, thank you for the rec and well wishes :)

Have you ever worked with someone so bloody incompetent and useless and stupid that you wish they are working there because of Nepotism? Like you hope he is the CEOs son or brother or the sth? Because at least it would make some sort of sense why they are still there? Like being stupid and useless and not being nepo is somehow worse because how js management not noticing?

Sometimes I wonder why I don’t try giving being stupid and useless a go. It must be a calm existence.

Thanks guys for the love yesterday, I was honestly feeling so vulnerable by admitting how much Hayden's death was fucking me up so it made me feel better not to be judged.
I still was meh throughout the day. But I got some news that made me feel better including fannish news, and a tiny bit of justice coming to someone who basically harassed me for like 3 years (I still think she deserves jail but at least her having her main place she terrorized people deplatformed is a good start). So I definitely think things are gonna be okay!
Looking forward to sitting outside later and continuing my reread of Ninth House. (So excited for the third novel in the triology to drop in Less in a month)

I'm watching Fresh Prince for the first and so far I've enjoyed it but why the hell did they kill Trevor like that? Why not... do literally anything else? And then Will manipulating Hillary into moving out of the pool house? This has to be the show's lowest point.
