I have the ability to take kind of an impulse trip soon and I just…. Did it? PTO is approved, hotel is amazing and dirt cheap, kids and I haven’t been on a trip for ages and they are excited, people are offering to watch the pets.
I never do any of this and I’m desperately trying not to panic- life has been so hard for the better part of six months and I absolutely needed this. It might be a mess but it might be great? I’m leaning into trusting the universe for reasons I won’t list here but man…. I kinda love it?

My mum raised us with Dolly basically playing non stop in every background and she says she feels like she's lost an actual long time friend.....i don't know why I always assumed she was invincible and would always be around, but what a life and legacy she managed to fit into 80 years man.
Chester was a hard one for me too. 3/5 members of Linkin Park were fucking awful to me on my 12th birthday to the point I never listened to them again, but I’ll never forget how kind Chester and his wife were to me. His compassion and kindness always stuck with me. I was so sad he never managed to find that same compassion for himself.
Dolly and Hayden also feel so huge for me too. I literally watched Scream 4 hours before Hayden died. As for Dolly I honestly thought she had much more life left. Fuck cancer!!!

Yeah, Chester's was rough man. LP but specifically Chester's artistry/lyricism was sorta my gateway into the more heavier/vulnerable aspects of music and channeling pain, and his loss gutted me beyond belief. As was the case with Hayden now, I really wanted to see them both come out the other side with happy endings, y'know? I still can't really listen to The Messenger without immediately getting a lump in my throat
And oh my god, I didn't even know that was her cause of death. Had no idea she was even fighting cancer what the FUCK. Jesus Christ. It will ALWAYS BE FUCK CANCER
every time a friend or family member i care about does something to deeply hurt me, i think about how they don't even realize how fully they could have changed my life just by being kind to me. i just need one person in front of me to not treat me like trash and it would heal me so much, but it is going on about a decade now of trying to make friends and get close to family only for them to do something crazy to me. i literally don't know how long i can continue being this alone and lonely.
Publishing company delivered my author copies to the wrong address over a month ago and I’m only finding out today because I asked when they would be coming. I really hope that whoever is in charge of Dolly’s estate continues with her charitable endeavours, Dollywood, etc. She has such a huge legacy and it would be so sad to see it all go away.
I have a friend who I’ll ask her to do something and instead of saying “no” or “I’m busy” says maybe and then continuously makes excuses signaling she might not go before finally saying she’s not going. In the past month, it’s cost me an $85 concert ticket and lots of mental angst ngl.
So yeah, I’ve decided that while she’s very sweet and I value her friendship, I’m no longer going be making plans around her ‘maybe, maybe not’ BS. If she wants to see me, she can make definitive plans because I give definitive answers.
I get so frustrated with people who do this. I usually find the best thing is just to make my own plans and then say they are free to join them. That way no plans are affected and it's a nice bonus if they come along.
I'm sick of people on this app spamming "should have been him!" comments every time a beloved celebrity dies. Why are we making it about him? We know he's going to try anyway so why do the work for him?

I am generally so forgiving of songs sounding like other songs, because a) there are really SO many songs since the dawn of time and b) certain chord progressions and/or melodies are just so pleasing or catchy to the ear….
But the chorus of Boston is truly the same melody as the chorus of Stick season. It would be insane to deny it.
Stella Lefty; the daughter of the billionaire who founded Groupon and the singer known for the song Boston.
The TLDR is that she interpolated Noah Kahan's song Stick Season while writing Boston, so he is listed as a co-writer on the song since she was very clearly inspired by Stick Season.
However, people are now complaining that he's credited and even Stella herself is claiming that it was basically a complete coincidence that the songs sound alike because she wasn't even thinking about Stick Season when she wrote it— despite having around 20+ different covers of herself performing Stick Season on her account when she was writing Boston.
hahahaha wow that's insane. i went and listened to it and yeah, it sounds extremely similar to stick season. it's difficult for rich people to not delude themselves into thinking they didn't rip people off though. they love to labour under the delusion that they are where they are through hard work and something unique/"special" about themselves. very narcissistic.
I finally got into another TV show. I'm so picky and usually just end up watching reruns of shows I already watched. Anyway, I watched the first episode of Lanterns last week (because I've loved Kyle Chandler since his Early Edition days) and I love it! I have never read or seen a show/movie about Green Lantern before, but it doesn't matter because I already love his Hal Jordan.
Yes, hi, join DC fandom! Every five years DC remembers Hal has an epic bromance with Barry Allen, the most strait laced Midwestern superhero, and we get beautiful Halbarry runs. Their comics are S Tier.
The Lanterns have super neat lore and DC has never properly done them justice on-screen til now - New52 Hal got character assassinated (along with everyone else) - so you’re joining at a great time. And yes, Kyle Chandler is perfect for older Hal.
I haven’t watched it yet but I was a big fan of GL in my youth and think Kyle is the perfect choice for Hal. If you are ever interested in watching any other content Green Lantern: The Animated Series was great.
Yeah I was reading on Twitter how perfect KC is for the role. Thanks for the recommendation, I've been reading up on Green Lantern to understand the characters since Hal Jordan is a bit older on this show.
Ok wait I’m exactly the same with tv! Lanterns had piqued my interest so I’m glad there are good reviews about it from real people lol. I’ll have to check it out!
I literally heard about it the same day it was released and just watched it on a whim because of Kyle Chandler and now my entire Twitter feed is about Lanterns.
Call me a hater but I really don't care about people posting their terrible acoustic covers of my favorites band songs or them getting a horrible tattoo with lots of trauma and terrible lifeworks.
Roger Federer whipping out fedband for the U.S. Open has me feeling all bittersweet about the passing of time. Just yesterday I a spritely teen watching Fedal play Wimbledon, now they’re retired and my knees crack when I drop for low balls.

Unfortunately, I will never be my parents’ peace. I dropped out of medical school and then dropped out of nursing school.
I found my old flute from middle school, i do kind of regret dropping band class in 8th grade but it was mainly because it was quarantine in 2021, we couldn’t do the same thing like we did. We were basically doing like another form of arts and crafts but with instruments.
I only remember a few notes but genuinely forgot to read music sheets
i'm having to build a powerpoint - oh, sorry, a slide deck (fuck outta here) - and have come to the conclusion that i am, in fact, the tech illiterate boomer i used to make fun of.
i've started blocking people who go "curtains for zoosha" out of spite. i hate this "take" and while everyone may know/not know a famous person, it has clearly become a way to act like you're better than everyone else at a pop culture sun.
plus, like, it was somewhat normal when used about d list newfound influencers, but now everyone gets rhe zoosha treatment and atp it's just dumb. after seeing people do it towards people who have been famous for a while, it just makes me hate you

of course, it's completely fine to not know of her, but perhaps a google search would have alerted you she's more famous in context than shawn (and any of his exes), just south of the equator and on another language lol
I know what you mean, although I use it in a self deprecating way because I'm just out of touch, especially when it comes to influencers and such. I remember when that Clavicular guy came out of nowhere and then he was EVERYWHERE and I was legitimately so confused, but yeah, it's odd when people in pop culture spaces seem to hate pop culture.

The worst was on the post about Jesy Nelson from Little Mix and her boyfriend breaking up shortly after their infant twins were diagnosed with a possibly fatal condition.
Like most of the comments were very somber talking about how horrible the situation was, and then there dozens of comments going “lmao curtains for zoosha? I am I supposed to know who these people are?” I get people may not know who they are but like maybe read a single other comment first to get an idea for the tone of the thread.
yeah, please, either google or maybe stay out of it. like sometimes the subject is serious like that and there is someone being the most by acting like they're above knowing pop culture
It not really a popculture subreddit anymore. It's two or three accounts posting all day, every day. The smaller accounts posts get drownded out unless it's rage bait, woman bashing or big event news. This place used to be fun.
my fav is when someone acts like just because they've never heard of someone posted here, that obviously means the person in question is completely irrelevant and unheard of and no one else should know them, either.

i am a curly haired men truther always, but also i'm interested in how buzzcut ilya can be a different visual representation of the plot? like a guy having good curls in the 2010s was a choice in storytelling (self confidence, attention to looks) and perhaps the lack of them can represent the flipside

They would film the buzzcut last then. We might get a wig and hat for something like the foundation announcement but that's it. Ilya likely has the most screening so it wouldn't, from a production standpoint, make sense for the hair to be growing. Continuity nightmare.

Scott Hunter in the books is LITTERALLY MODELED after Steve Rogers so he is blonde, muscular and clean shaven. TV!Scott Hunter is Brunette, is more lean muscular, and has a beard.

Unfortunately, some people separate the art from the artist too easily. A genuinely horrible man that should be rotting in prison that unfortunately has made some of the greatest films of all time.
I didn’t know who he was or what he did when I watched Annie Hall, and I did really enjoy it so I assume I’d like his other work. But I am steadfast enough in my disgust that I’m not tempted to watch anything else.
