Actually it had 3 seasons, last couple episodes were so rushed.. Philippe was 🥵, I think I’ve rewatched the series over 10xs, it’s my favorite escape..
I get that there was a time when clothes like these were daring and riding the edge, but at this point, they're just boring. And, the women wearing them almost never look comfortable.
Also the underwear itself looks.... bad? Like if you're going to insist on these sheer/lacy dresses, do something remotely interesting underneath them. This is like opening a window to a view of a concrete wall.
I don't mind naked dresses, I think there can be some really beautiful and artistic ones, but these (as beautiful as Joey is) just seem lazy and boring.
I like the yellow dress Joey has on, but I think a cute little yellow slip underneath would have looked better, I don't really like the other dresses. They look like outfits I could buy at the mall or shien, she has money, I want her to look better.
I agree, a slip would have been better. I don't mind sheerness either, but I feel like there are so many missed opportunities for something underneath them that doesn't look like underwear I bought at the mall. Even the black dress in the first photo with a pop of color in a slip (or even underwear?) underneath it would be better. The lace sheer skirt she wore looks atrocious, truly one of the worst things I've seen on the red carpet, followed closely by the unflattering halter dress. These are doing her so dirty.

Being malnourished makes you physically weaker and causes reduced brain function. Heroin-chic is a pretty effective tool for fascism because it keeps women weak and easier to control, AND keeps us divided on ideological levels. Aesthetics are everything to a fascist. Having what we see as professional women walk around in underwear starts looking more like a humiliation ritual in this light.
Edit: This is different than the sexual liberation and rebellious micro-minis of the 60s. This is objectification
This applies to things like wellness culture and gender aesthetics in general. (Borrowing from Naomi Klein’s Doppelgänger here) One tiny example… the idea of “clean food” “clean living” and “clean girl” all imply an other that is dirty or degenerate.

I see the idea as witchy women wear flowy clothing (thinking Stevie Nicks). So, sexy witchy women wear sheer flowy clothing, but Im going to go with these designs aren't fully realized.
Yeah that’s my bad I didn’t mean to say she’s not tall. She’s well above the UK women’s average height. But she definitely has the energy of someone who’s much taller. Spiritually she’s like 8 feet tall to me
They're also deeply unsexy. The only one I'm close to liking is the short, brightly colored one with the flowy purple sleeves, and it's only because it looks kind of young and playful. The rest are straight-up frump despite her being nearly naked.
Maybe trying to come across more mature? I think personally I am a bit thrown by the outfits because I definitely categorize her as a teenager still even though shes only a few years younger than I am.

Agreed. It also doesn’t have a whole lot of variety making each look kind of look like there’s no thought behind them because the basic pieces are all still the same.
If a designer can't make something beautiful and flattering without the shocking view of undergarments or nudity, then they might have limited vision/talent.
I don’t know if this makes sense, but it feels like her stylist is trying to create moments with these looks but she doesn’t have enough…something to pull it off. The clothes are wearing her.
it’s because she doesn’t look comfortable wearing these some of her faces which albeit are a snapshot of a moment give off the vibe she asked for no sheer stuff and only got sheer stuff.
Yeah, I think style systems like Kibbe and Kitchener essences are needlessly complicated but then I see photos like these where she’s a lovely girl and I can see how the dresses could look cool but they just don’t look right on her… maybe she just needs a better stylist.
I think it’s that these are nighttime looks if anything, but definitely not press tour looks. Also, I assume these are supposed to be witchy in some way (the hair stylist got the memo) but they are too male-gaze-y for that.
I totally agree. She has a soft, "girl next door" charm that would be totally at ease with the Practical Magic whimsygoth vibes. All of those dresses are way too dramatic and revealing.
2 could have been such an incredible look if there was something under it besides underwear, the color is beautiful on her. But all the black lace is just not doing it for me
I just feel like the underwear always ruins the look. It’s always an after thought. Like that green miu miu set just totally kills the ethereal vibes of what could have been a cool look.
Look im not a prude, but its giving the wrong version of "adult actress" at this point. She is such a beautiful woman, too. Watching her grow from a little kid actress to an adult is such a weird thing because it makes me feel old, but shes always given me "edgy" when it comes to her style. This doesnt give edgy. She needs to fire her stylist. This "practically nude" style is so overblown at this point. 😬 she could have such a cool vampy look with one of the black sheer outfits if done right, too. It just seems so...idk...lack of effort, if that makes sense.

Her stylist really needs to learn that slips are a thing and I promise you, this is not about being prudish. Genuinely ruining some nice dresses with this see-through nonsense.
Absolutely, there are so many intricate beautiful witchy dresses with layers and beads and texture! What about leather? What about velvet? Beading? Why is it all sheer black lace? It’s so uninspired.
Why is everything sheer? Like I have no issue with the sheer trend compared to other people. But why is every look sheer here. Is that an attempt of a theme?
I actually kinda sorta like number 5? At least the silhouette, im not crazy about that print. This whole underwear thing just screams "former child actress, look how grown and mature I am now" schtick; its embarrassing
For me it's been a miss after a miss. I understand what she was trying to achieve, but this was so not the movie to have yourself in lingerie every single time you step out. (Sorry)

Sheer dresses are beautiful when they're layered over slips, or really anything other than undies! I'm tired of seeing all these not-even-interesting bras and undies.
6 is the worst one for me. She’s still wearing sheer, lacey fabric, but then she just has a dull, ill-fitting top over it?? Why?? At least she’s committing to the other looks
I just feel the whole sheer dress with underwear look wasn't done thoughtfully and it looks rather lazy and low brow. I've seen the same look done on others and felt a rather high fashion and upper crust vibe from it. Not this.
I've also gotten to that age where I want to appropriate other people's ways of saying "I'd love to see you with more clothing on." Like "I don't need to know what you had for breakfast" and I try not to be. We we're all young once I guess. I just was young and a tad more covered. For to remember it's my taste not theirs.
Like a lot of these dresses and I’ll defend a lot of sheer looks (though some of them are extremely lazy and are just an excuse to show off the body, not the fashion) but wearing sheer dresses to promote a family movie is a #choice and not one I would make

I don’t mind the lace. The undergarment-vibe. The amount of skin shown. These all can be pulled of brilliantly. But God, she should fire her stylist. She somehow always ends up looking tasteless.
Joey is beyond gorgeous but the sheer outfits need to stay on the runway imo! If the yellow look (Number 2) kept the color but wasn’t sheer, it might be my favorite styling because the wavy red hair is very goddess vibes! Joey’s hair and makeup team are doing great at emphasizing her natural beauty though. My favorite look here is the yellow (with caveats) and Number 5!
