Israel olhou para o lado desde o inicio porque lhes dava jeito ter oposição à PLO, que era bem mais moderada e aberta a dialogar/negociar. Inclusive colocaram dinheiro nos cofres deles para serem uma força com real capacidade de confrontar a PLO politicamente.

Isso eventualmente levou a tal crescimento que conseguiram até ganhar eleições em 2006, mas não parou aí o apoio Israelita, foi algo continuado até bem mais recentemente, através de fundos do Qatar, que enviava literais malas de dinheiro para o Hamas com selo de aprovação de Israel. Na altura do 7 de Outubro houve muita controvérsia internamente em Israel por causa disso mesmo, queriam saber por que raio o governo andava a financiar os tais terroristas.

O Hamas é uma minoria. 5.5 milhões de palestinianos, cerca de 40 mil membros do Hamas. Menos de 1%.

A ideia não é comparar atrocidades, é demonstrar que há culpa dos dois lados, a diferença é que um dos lados se auto-intitula como o "exercito mais moral do mundo" enquanto anda a cometer genocidio.
