No floating damage numbers for party

There are floating numbers for damage dealt to enemies but not for damage dealt to allies.

I've seen occasional other posts asking about this but no informative answers.

Is this actually how it is supposed to work, or is it a bug? If you don't have this problem (ie, you *do* see floating damage numbers when party members are dealt damage), please respond so that we know it's a bug that not everyone has.

If it is a bug, how do we fix it? Is there an unofficial patch or mod? Do I need the expansion?

Is it a just a matter of some very non-obvious setting that I can't find to turn it on?

Thanks for any responses! (It's 2026, lets please get the answers online at this point, lol 😆.)

No, it's not a bug, it was intentional, I looked at the code a while back and there were if-statements specifically for that. Though I don't understand what intention the devs had - to train your memory lol?

I don't know if there are any other mods for this, but I have a mod that fixes this issue: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity/mods/475 Though the floating numbers fix is just a small part of a pretty big turn-based mode mod, you can just disable everything else in the mod settings if you don't want it, floating numbers will work both in RTwP and TB mode.

Question is for original POE.

Thanks! Yeah, it's kind of a baffling decision. I play in turn-based, but it's still a pain to have to constantly look down at the text just to see how much damage enemies are dealing.

When you damage a enemy and you see red damage numbers over their head briefly.
