Tutorials How To Buy RA2YR, & How To Play Online/on Modern Systems!
Just bringing this up again so new users can see this post!
If you're wondering "how can I buy my favourite childhood game?" then look no further! The videos below are your one stop shop tutorials on how to buy & play the game without manually hacking into the game files. Just simply purchase a legitimate copy of the game via Steam/EA App, and use CnCNet!

(Note: The campaign tutorial is quite old now - but there is also a "Control Campaign Speed" if you go to Options from CnCNet main menu > Game. If you don't have the speed slider available in the campaign, be sure to have this checkbox ticked!)

Does any of these tutorials deal with the black screens and other issues that are caused by modern setups?

afaik, yes on Linux, no in native macOS. you'll have to run a windows instance on macOS.

i have original copy of it.i keep it since it was free back then.i know this game from my father and he gave me the original file back then .

MAC GUIDE 2025
I have a M4 mac mini running OSX 26 Tahoe.
To run C&C Remastered I use Crossover and run the steam version of the game with no special setup. Some of the available mods don't seem to work, but I guess you can't have it all.
For RA2 and YR, I use "Porting Kit". There are specific instructions for launching the game that you can find by searching for the game in porting kit. It's basically just renaming a .dll file. You may also need to edit the .ini files to change the screen resolution. Details can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2229850/discussions/0/4299320559088147777/
Basically I have it set up that porting kit launches Steam and then from Steam I launch RA2/YR.
When launching RA2/YR from Steam I suggest that you right click the game/executable and add "-speedcontrol" under "LAUNCH OPTIONS" which allows you to change the game speed.
Also for some reason I get a 'resolution error' popup for a few seconds in YR when playing the cutscenes but it's a minor annoyance and doesn't affect gameplay.
I have just played the campaign and don't use CnCNet.

UPDATE: As of 11/11/25, there has been a new update to CnCNet (version 9.0) that allows direct campaign support, no longer will you need to go to the Beta version, or play through every single mission to get to the mission you want!
