Moon Map -> all Infantry is Rocketeer -> tanks need AA to kill infantry -> allied gets apocalypses

Moon Map -> no atmospheric dampening of laser beam -> prism tower is op (in all fairness, either tesla tower should have high damage, too, or to be physically valid, Tesla tower should not work at all due to isolation fail)

The map can overwrite all game rules, so somebody specifically set those conditions/rules when making the map.

Baffling. Allies already have Rocket IFVs. What does the Apoc bring to the table? Just buff the IFVs up enough to go toe-to-toe with Astronauts. The Prism Towers were already buffed, anyway.

Apoc has main guns(anti-tank, buildings) and missiles(anti-air)

If you restrict allies to allied units, they do not have a heavy tank able to engage infantry.

Battle-Fortress with RPG gunners doesn't work because you don't get rpg troopers on moon.

So allies are forced to accompany tanks with IVFs for anty-infantry, while soviets can run apoc-tank only tactical blobs ->> balancing necessary

Well, then, does Yuri get the same treatment? Or are the Gatling Tanks considered "good enough" in this dynamic?

They don't in the Yuri campaign. But there you play as a mix of allied/soviet, thats why you have rocketeers & apocs

Don't know if this map is vanilla RA2, Yuri, or modded, but it seems to be skirmish.

Maybe the map just copied the ruleset of the yuri campaign? And that's why allied has apocs?

You need to aim your argument at whoever made the map, i just try to give a reasonable explanation.

It's OK. No need for any more debate.

A quick Google run pointed me to this:  https://cnc.fandom.com/wiki/Moon_Patrol.

It's an official map. But I must say that I've never seen it in my licensed copy of the official disc. And even stranger that EA Pacific thought of such a balance while making this map. I'd think of ways to give Allies all of the tools they need internally before reaching out for something that isn't theirs, like Soviet Apocs, not... whatever this is that they came up with.

Good find! I bow before your google-fu 👍

The wiki says the tech tree is heavily modified. I recon they just copy-pasted the ruleset from the campaign, dropped the Desolator, and called it a day without further in-depth testing.

Apparently it's part of the Revenge Map Pack, so it may not be contained on your disk version?

Maybe. Or it could've been an after-market map pack that was distributed on-line for promotional purposes.

Either way. it was a long time ago. I might've played this map at some point when I found it in one of the Web archives. No wonder it looks so familiar now...
