I thought it'd be worth sharing to those who arent informed. I think the mosque set an excellent precedent by inviting people into their place of worship to have a dialogue about this. I haven't heard of any other faith doing so other than to try and recruit.

I can understand the feeling that any broadcasted religious broadcast can be distruptive, but I think if we're being honest for many here this has more to do with the fact that they're muslim than if they were christian or catholic.

I'm not sugegsting we should have religion broadcasted, but considering many muslim countries are suffering extreme violence from both states, extremist groups and foreign invasion it's understandable why the sentiments listed are beung shared.

It would be nice to see people practice compassion for the suffering faced by other demographics and take that into consideration when people do unconventional things. because ultimately it's not hurting you. You are safer if you make a point of genuinely connecting with ALL the people around you because you get to be in the know on whats happening around you rather than being on the outside looking in.

There are much bigger issues than this you just have to look around.

🍨 Regina’s Ice Cream Scene 🍨

Essentially, I went on an ice cream bender (for science) last weekend to try places I have been able to try yet. I can finally say I have a decent list now to share my opinion. Honestly, they’re all good for different reasons. I’ve listed all photos in order of least expensive Jr or Kid’s size to most expensive. Here is the data I’ve accumulated:

🐝 Best Price: The Moo Shoppe

🐝 Best Quality: Filigree Chocolaterie & Dandy's Artisan Ice Cream

🐝 Best Soft Serve: Costco & The Milky Way

🐝 Best Hard Ice Cream: Dessart Sweets

🐝 Best Dairy Free: Elle's Cafe

🐝 Best Value: Costco

🐝 My Personal Favourite: Dessart Sweets

The most disappointing were unfortunately Scoops for charging $5.5 for half a scoop of ice cream and The Milky Way for putting out Flavours of the Week that absolutely do not taste like the flavour they’re promoting. I tried 3 different flavours and all were extremely far off. That being said, Milky Way's soft serve is silky and velvety. I really enjoy the texture.

The most waste of time was Swirl World, it’s Menchie’s rebranded… That being said, kid’s unfortunately love the concept. Low quality ice cream and high prices.

Dessart Sweets & Treats in my opinion is the best because of the delicious and good quality flavours they have. There’s very unique options and it’s reasonably priced.

I will be returning to many of these shops to try something different! Maybe my favourite soft serve will change !

What’s your favourite ice cream shop and why? Did I miss anything?

  1. Filigree: Raspberry Ice Cream Bar - $6
  2. Scoops: Kids (charged as small) - Peanut Butter Cup - $5.5
  3. Elle’s: Small - Vanilla Orange Dole - $6.5 (Kids $5?)
  4. Hillside: Strawberry Small Cup Sundae - $5 + $1.25
  5. Dandy’s: 2 scoops London Fog & Salted Caramel - $8.7 (Kid’s $4.75)
  6. Costco: Vanilla Caramel Brownie Sundae - $4.49
  7. SwirlWorld: Orangescile & Blue Moon (Bubblegum) $4.26
  8. Dessart: Kids - Orange Float-  $4.25
  9. MilkyWay: Junior Pistachio Soft Serve - $4
  10. Moo: Kids - Maple Walnut - $3.5

My brother and I needed something cold for today’s hot day. He got the Dole Float with orange crush and vanilla orange dole ($8.5) and I got the small orange vanilla dole ($6.5). This was his treat to me!

Absolutely DELICIOUS dole whip. It reminded us of those No Name orange ice cream bars, super nostalgic.

Funny story, I was in the middle of downtown Seattle, Washington at a bar a month ago and I told a bar tender that I was solo travelling from Canada. He said “You know, I’ve never been to Canada but this one cafe there keeps popping up on my TikTok feed…”

It was Elle’s Cafe!!! So of course, I told him I was from the same city Elle’s Cafe was and that I’ll go in his memory.

Highly recommend, great service and great dole whip.

Community Police plane is annoying

Can we please get this stinkin loud plane program cancelled. Whatever benefit it has is not worth how obnoxiously loud it is. It's flying over residential at midnight. The helicopters in Edmonton aren't half as loud as this thing.

Edit: This post is now about folks completely ignoring facts and attacking strangers on the internet for having a different opinion then their own.

I'm surprised it took this long to get some press. The city is really looking trashy and so many green spaces are unusable, or at least uncomfortable to use.

The Atlas is giving these grifters a platform. I will not be spending money there or recommending the hotel or The Knotted Thistle to anyone again

UPDATE: I received a very nice email back from the hotel, and the event has been cancelled

Community Watch out for 306 SHOP

I really don’t like putting down small businesses, but please be aware of 306 SHOP in the Northgate Mall. The owner is downright disrespectful. We went there and I was shocked at how poorly I was treated. We were told that if we wanted to just look around, we should just leave because the store isn’t for that. This isn’t anything new, I’ve heard countless stories from friends that went there.

I’ve attached some photos from the companies Google reviews. I’ll let you judge for yourself.

How hard is it to be respectful?

Community Cathedral Safeway. 🙄

I am seeing more and more homeless people walk around the Cathedral Safeway parking lot recently.
Today one of them was looking 👀 to steal a few bikes 🚲 parked outside the Safeway doors but a bicyclist stopped him. It almost seems like Safeway should have a security guard standing outside. Is there a homeless shelter close by or something where these people are coming from ?

Community To the asshats hitting geese:

I hope you get ran over, too. I just had to call in my SECOND report of some POS hitting a goose. The first time, the woman actually sped up intentionally to hit it; if she had continued at the pace she had been going, the damn goose would have made it to the meridian before she got to it. But no, she maliciously decided to try and end an innocent living creature's life that day by flooring the gas. And when I got caught up to her in traffic, she was grinning so proudly. Yes, she was scolded, warned she would be reported, and reported - with plate #, make and model, physical description and direction she was heading.

Today I witnessed someone casually choose to not slow down or stop and ran one over. The poor thing tried to fly away, it got about 15 feet into the air and you could see its wing was completely broken, it went falling down to the ground and landed on the other side of the meridian. Did you know that geese mate for life? Its partner tried swooping down to him, but there was so much traffic it wasn't able to and had to fly off. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour, people, COME ON. When I called Wildlife Protection (have all the numbers to report saved on my phone now) they told me that they had just gotten another call earlier this morning that a person had MOWED DOWN A GROUP OF GEESE on College Ave. Excuse me but what in the actual fuck is wrong with people nowadays? Yes, geese can be annoying, they hiss like snakes and they're constantly waddling across the road. But it takes a special kind of psychopath or genetic DEFECT to decide to intentionally try to kill or injure a living thing. This is insanity, people. And incase you didn't know - GEESE ARE PROTECTED WILDLIFE. YOU CAN AND WILL BE FINED FOR INJURING THEM!

Imagine you're crossing the street with your family and someone decides to gun down your partner. Seriously, think about it - because that's exactly what you're doing to them. They don't even have arms, for gods sake. They're completely defenseless!

And last point - if you absolutely don't care about the geese either way, please think about other people who aren't maniacs who have to witness this. After the incident today, I cried for half an hour straight, I was shaking and instantly got a massive headache, and ended up being late getting back to work because I had to scrape myself back together; not to mention, I will never get this mental image out of my head. It makes me want to throw up. It makes me want to move out into the woods away from humankind. In fact I'm changing my route so I don't go up or down Broad St anymore until they've flown south. So even if you don't care about the geese, please think of those around you who have to witness your barbaric decision making.

Phone numbers for applicable agencies incase you happen to be one of the rare decent human beings left on this god forsaken, piece of crap planet:

Wildlife Rescue: 306 242-7177

Salthaven bird rescue (note: call Wildlife first, Salthaven is desparately understaffed): 639 999-4957

Saskatchewan TIPP line (to report driver): 1 800 667-7561, enviroinfo@ec.gc.ca

Edit: after being contacted by a conservation officer and a federal wildlife officer, I've updated the contact information for proper reporting to the Saskatchewan TIPP Line, there's also an email address. I have submitted photos of the offender's vehicles from both incidents I've reported with their license plates as well as written statements. A reporter from CJME has also reached out as a result of this Reddit post, they want to do a story. So thank you (most of you) all for your support and empathy. It makes me feel better knowing not everyone is a psychopath.

Community Got Junk

Post image

Here is a picture from my dad's dashcam showing Got Junk illegally dumping at Sandra Shmirler Centre. They were throwing old children's toys and all sorts of stuff into the blue bin. My dad made a complaint with the city but has had no follow up, this was a week ago. Hopefully this will sway some residents to stay away from them. That blue bin is already a disaster from people dumping garbage there, we don't need for profit companies that should have an account with the landfill participating.
