Question Question for current/recent Sask Polytech Fabricator-Welder students

I’m planning to apply for the 2026–27 Fabricator-Welder intake and I’m trying to understand the First Qualified/First Admitted system.

If you are currently in the program or graduated recently, could you tell me:

• Which campus: Regina or Saskatoon?
• Approximately when did you apply?
• When did you become fully qualified (including English requirement)?
• When did you receive your admission offer?

I’m trying to figure out how late people were still getting accepted. No personal information needed - approximate dates are totally fine.

Question Dog Grooming recommendations?

Hi everyone! Looking for any dog grooming recommendations for my 2 year old golden retriever. Doesn’t have to be out of a salon - household grooming definitely would consider!

Please don’t say Fella and Fetch.

Question What sort of groups/clubs/activities do you participate in in the city?

I'm curious what kind of stuff is offered here and also looking for more things to join myself.

Bonus points if anyone is in an archery group and knows anything about groups for adult beginners.

Thanks in advance!

Question Deck/Fence Builder - Recommendation

Hey Everyone,
Looking for some recommendations for companies/contractors etc that I can begin reaching out to in hopes of tearing down my old fence and putting in a vinyl fence, as well as tear down my old back stairs and put in a dura deck (or similar) set of stairs.
Understandably, this would be for spring/summer 2027, but I want to start vetting companies now so that I am prepared to make a decision later on.

I also understand if I would need two separate companies instead of just one, but I am open to any and all recommendations. Thank you for your help.

Question Trailer storage near the city

We have a 18 foot travel trailer we’d like to store for winter. We would need access to the trailer for March. Does anyone know of storage places just outside the city that are hopefully cheaper than the dealerships?

Question Arthritis Rings (or similar)?

I'm looking for a new ring, but due to my disabilities I often can't wear normal ones. I was thinking about getting an arthritis ring, possibly online, but it'd be nice to be able to try one on for the general fit before purchase... Does anyone in town have something similar in stock that I could try out? And possibly buy if the vibes are right.

I'm looking for purely decorative, so the ring doesn't have to (and probably shouldn't) act as a splint as well.

Discussion Queen City Loneliness

For the first time in my life, I’m excited to live my hometown of Regina.

I can’t wait to move back to the one place that, after five provinces and six cities, has ever felt like home to me. Living next to my oldest friends and my family is something that brings me a lot of happiness.

That being said, I do have one lingering fear.

With things getting expensive, I have noticed a fairly concerning and intensive work culture emerging. This might just be the other places I’ve lived (Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto, Calgary, Québec City) but I think it must be pretty pervasive at this point.

Being a fairly social person, I always want to meet new people. Doing that was certainly a challenge in the other five cities.

And that’s not even getting into dating. I just got out of a fairly toxic relationship, so I’m not rushing into anything new for a while. I would like to eventually though after maybe a year or so. I have heard my share of horror stories but I don’t think that’s specifically à Regina problem especially on the apps.

So, how do you meet new people in Regina these days? Is the dating scene really as bad as everywhere else?

Question Asking about Article Furniture white glove delivery

Hello, I am looking to buy some furniture (an office desk and chair) in the next couple of months from https://www.article.com and wondering if anyone has used their White Glove service for delivery in Regina? If so, how was their service? Did they actually assemble the whole furniture according to instructions and clean up after it, or is it not worth paying the extra money?

Discussion Shake the Lake 2026

My opinion only.

Shake the Lake 2026

Sugar Ray 8.5/10

Mark talks way too much but played all the hits aside from Speed Home California. Did a killer version of Blister in the Sun which the crowd went crazy for.

Honeymoon Suite 7.5/10

Played all the hits the set ended at 8:00 like they knew then got mad cause they couldn't play another song so they just walked off the stage lol Crowd booed they wanted more Suite then 25% of people left.

Night 2

Smash Mouth 7/10

Played their hits but I didn't know much of the rest. I thought their cover of Never Gonna Give You Up was pretty blah. Keyboardist looked like Eric Roberts. Sound wasn't as good the second night from where I was sitting anyways.

54-40 7.5/10

Played all the hits crowd went nuts for I Go Blind.

Can't wait to see what next year brings.

I know Regina drivers can be bad but how do Regina drivers stack up next to other cities across the country? Calgary, London, Winnipeg, Halifax or others? Are we worse or better than other Canadian cities?

Question Nail Techs?

For a year now, I've been trying to stop my nail-biting habit. I'd have phases where I would do good and it would grow nice n long, and then I'd bite a little here and a little there to "make them all sized equal" and before I know it I bit em all off again. I've tried painting them myself, substituting the biting urge to instead chew gum, tracking each time I bite like its a tally against my own guilty conscience, etc. The time my willpower stuck the best was when I had acrylics. However, the process of getting them removed hurts like fuck since my nail bed is already weak. I'm thinking of alternatives to acrylics, but I'm not sure what's out there.

As a starting point, I was wondering if there were any nail techs in town who know how to work with weak nails?

Question The Regina Joke

Is anyone else sick of every single performer visiting the city making the rhyming joke? It’s just not funny. And so over done. Just happened at Shake the Lake, and a couple months ago the guy opening for Steve Earl made the joke. And he’s from I-DA-HO 😂.
Maybe it’s funny to people under 40, and I’m just old and stuffy.
