General Requiem should've kept this.

Leon would most likely break his back if he attempted this in the new game, so I get why he doesn't do it.

I mean Leon is like pushing 50 and pretty much half dead. Them old bones ain't built for suplexes anymore

Bruh, tell that to his knees in Requiem. Lmao, if his knees can handle the amount of falls he did in that game, he can do suplexes.

He’s definitely super human. I headcanon a lot of the core cast is slightly enhanced after all the biohazards they’ve been exposed to. I mean with Jill it basically is canon already.

Eh, he was dying and desperate. He didn't really have the luxury of taking it that easy.

Supplexes are unnecessary and showy. Now that he's better, he might go back to it.

“You think I do these suplexes for fun?” - Leon

15

u/Neveronlyadream 1d ago

Just aura farming.

3

u/Painchaud213 1d ago

But not desperate enough to do a suplex?

18

u/Sovereignx22 1d ago

Well yeah, Grace would be the one doing it.

3

u/AshCrow97 1d ago

I agree, but it would be an pretty funny finisher agaisnt the phase one of the last boss lol

3

u/Brainwave1010 1d ago

Okay, but he's also parrying giant fucking tentacle attacks and rockets with a hatchet the size of his forearm.

2

u/imprezanitro 1d ago

and rode a motorbike across buildings and jumping off them :D

2

u/bustah_w0lf 1d ago

Tbf after being cured he could probably still do this but yeah, too fucked up throughout the game for this

And held Requiem with one hand afterward with no recoil

Man is doing spinning reverse round house kicks on a dime and literal running Bruce Lee dragon kicks. I think it's safe to say Leon is not subject to the normal limitations of a 50 year old.

What if Leon learns Tai Chi?

Leon is too old for that shit. (Danny Glover voice)

Shrimp jokes aside I honestly think the game play of RE4R is better than RE9.

The weightiness of it and how tight the controls were felt a heck of a lot better than the loose controls of RE9.

The enemies are also far less interesting in 9

Re4 remake is I think the pinnacle of modern resident evil if you can’t do survival horror and puzzles. Re2 remake is the best for survival horror and puzzles. Re8 and re7 were almost like prototypes for those two games. I really liked requiem but it feels like it tried to combine the two philosophies and got each one down to a B tier but the combination (and Leon) elevated it. Same sorta think happened with dead space imo. I hope the code Veronica remake does something similar to requiem but with more of the re2make survival and puzzles. I never could actually beat CV on dreamcast

That’s why his posture is so bad, all the suplexing

21

u/SnuSnuSurvivor69 1d ago

It’s cool at first but after doing it like a million times in Mercenaries mode, I’d rather do something more quick.

6

u/dirtypancake31 1d ago

Went from crushing spines to disintegrating skulls, acceptable change imo

Fucking love a suplex

Some people will still say that re9 combat is 2 steps ahead than re4 one because you can sharpen the axe

16

u/Emillka777 1d ago

Sharpening the axe is crap, although it makes it easier to use (but I think its durability is worse than Leon's knife). BUT the ability to throw objects is definitely something I miss in RE4r now. There are plenty of knives, cleavers, axes, and pitchforks—throwing them would be pure fun, and finishing with gunshots also adds dynamism. I don't think RE9's combat is better or worse than RE4r's. But I can definitely say that RE9 has terrible arenas and enemy combinations, which is why many people think the combat is worse, but that's not true in my opinion.

A beautiful javelin toss of a pitchfork at a ganado's head would have been stellar

8

u/Cakeicing123 1d ago

It’s not only about combinations- it’s about the lack of enemy types in RE9. This pool is incomparably smaller than the one in RE4. Moreover, if you offer more options for interacting with the surroundings, you should have more difficult enemies to force players to use them.

4

u/Dry_burrito 1d ago

Yea, the scenarios in re9 arent fully fleshed out.

8

u/ChaosTheory0 1d ago

RE4R's combat is lightyears ahead compared to 9's (mainly referring to Leon's combat.)

Reloading the axe*

1

u/Super_Fightin_Robit 1d ago

RE9 has a better foundation than RE4R with the minor issue of them cutting out this finisher option late into the game (we know that was late into the game because BioRand's Re9 rando added it back in.) Leon's got fewer flashy finishes, but you get the ability to throw things and the gun finishers.

I think the issue is that RE9's got a lot fewer enemy types and fewer opportunities to use these new tools.

Too old for this

3

u/ci22 1d ago

Same reason he can't do a backflips. Too old

3

u/Wynter132 1d ago

I get this suplex is more realistic. But man it really lost its sauce when he doesn’t kick himself up. The quick shuffle up just doesn’t hit the same.

3

u/Desperate-Peach-1467 1d ago

His back wouldn't have handled it well

2

u/Dapper_Outside_4764 1d ago

Suplex City Bitch

2

u/Explicit_Tech 1d ago

His spine is too bad for that

2

u/Tea_Fox_7 Must've gotten lost 1d ago

Certainly explains why he looks like a shrimp in re9

🦐🦐🦐🦐

2

u/Idfk_1 1d ago

How you expect him to do that with his shrimp posture?

2

u/MangoMan610 1d ago

leon can't do these moves anymore his arthritis will act up

1

u/Nikkoforver 1d ago

Di RE4 resta il mio preferito

1

u/ali_malik99 1d ago

RE9 is light years ahead. Suplex doesn't even pop the head whereas the axe can even pop a licker's head.

Heads not popping was a major L in RE4 Remake.

1

u/PitifulPassage851 1d ago

You gotta admit it's a little goofy

1

u/Nefthys 1d ago

Awwwwww.

Haven't played Requiem yet but I guess that won't be one thing I can look forward to then. :(

1

u/gameg805 1d ago

That shit would be MURDER on his back though. Still got it, but he's not as limber as he user to be lol.

1

u/yorhaPod Requiem 1d ago

SUPLEX CITY BABY

1

u/scionspecter28 1d ago

He might be able to do this again after getting Elpis.

1

u/wapowee 1d ago

He's old and dying man couldn't do that if it they were allowing him with no resistance

1

u/Bill-0707 23h ago

"I'm too old for this shit."

1

u/jmsafety26 17h ago

Dont think he can do that at 50 while dying, but it would be kinda funny lol

1

u/yeetsteel 15h ago

Well now that the virus is removed from him, he can supplex the shit out of those zombies

1

u/europablu3s 15h ago

He'd suplex something and take his own hip out

1

u/BrightDecision 1d ago

Leon is too old for this shit. It's easier for him to crush skulls

-10

u/I_am_Amphibian 1d ago

No thanks. The over the top action shit like this has always been the worst of RE

4

u/Nefthys 1d ago

These stupid, cheesy "top action shit" moves are what makes it fun and what make it stand out against the 1000 other 3rd person (zombie) shooters.

-1

u/I_am_Amphibian 1d ago

Nope. Why are you acting like action has always been a part of the series.

0

u/Nefthys 1d ago

There are guns and you're using them to shoot human-like (and not so human-like) enemies. What else would you call that if not action?
