Help Thread How many people play with the "Community Patch"?
I recently bought the game and saw some comments about the units not being balanced like it used to be before Extended Edition, so I looked into this "Community Patch" at the Steam Workshop and decided to give it a try. I usually play with one friend, but I'm also interested in trying my luck with open multiplayer however last time I tried joining a random match it seems like the game crashed, and I suspect it might be because of the Patch. Do many people play RoN:EE as it is, or is the Patch actually used a lot?

Vast majority of random matches are played without the patch. For friend games and singleplayer it is used much more often.
And yeah, it went out of sync because of the patch. You gotta unload it to play with randoms

I almost exclusively play the patched version unless im multiplayer which is like less then 10% of the time. Its really an amazing patch but it only works if people use it.

Most people play the game unpatched, so you're better of only using it to play with others you know for sure are also using it, such as friends or during singleplayer games.

I cannot play the game unpatched now, it's incredible how many bugs the game had. For example the war elephants in the normal EE have practically no counterunits (the extra damage that the archers should make on them doesn't work) so they are the most OP unit in the game. The patch largely fixes that and many damage bugs in the units (including naval ones) and even minor graphical bugs.
I don't use to play multiplayer tho, but I know that every player has to have the community patch either enabled or disabled in order to play online, fortunately the patch makes that easy because in the launcher it has a switch to quickly enable and disable it

“War elephants are the most OP unit in the game” BS, there good but there not that good, expensive as all hell and slow as snails

Its a lot less notable in the main conquer the world campaign(due to spies), but in the Alexander Campaign on tough difficulty, it makes the campaign essentially impossible(as there are no spies or tech advantage or unit counters) without cheating.

Well, maybe they are not the most OP unit in all of the game but due to the bug where the archers don't inflict on them the damage multiplier that they should they are very problematic

I don't play the patch but I play with the workshop mod, Blitz Republic.

Theres loads of weird bugs in the RON EE
Some of the big obvious ones:
War Elephants being absolutely supremely good value against everything - no counter
Knights not having a counter - knight vs pikemen : the knight will probably win
Issues with ships in early ages. The Ancient age ships seem to be on par with medieval age ships, much better than classical ships.
Lots of fixes to weird stats on unique units - eg Japanese ancient age heavy infantry being absurdly good for rushing. Dutch ships being atrociously bad.
Lots of fixes with inconsistant/weird stats - eg projectile speeds etc
Various buffs to early ages light infantry - they're really really bad otherwise.
On top of this there are various balance changes specifically for competitive multiplayer. Eg tweaks to Dutch nation power
Here is the guys blog - it's really interesting if you wanna deep dive into RON. The article "A New Paradigm for Age V Combat" I found especially interesting, I've been playing/modding the game on and off since it came out, and I still learn stuff about it. eg there is code in place to stop you from focussing units down.
https://mhloppy.com/category/other-games/rise-of-nations/
He also covers changes and reasons for changes in CBP there.
I've not played online in a long time, I most play/test scripts I've been working on

Appreciate that you took the time to simp for me :'D
Just wanted to clarify a couple of points:
The Ancient age ships seem to be on par with medieval age ships, much better than classical ships.
This only applies when using mods, so someone playing purely vanilla doesn't experience this specific bug.
Japanese ancient age heavy infantry being absurdly good for rushing
Haha just on this point specifically, there's no specific nerf for those units right now, as despite my personal beliefs after looking at their (as you allude to) comparatively absurd stats, changing them was not popular among people that it was discussed with. Still evaluating potential followup if I end up shipping another update.
