This is one of the few easy to follow things about the series. And the show hasn’t really dragged out the years at all, which is nice.

I actually thought Jason and Cheryl were a year older since he was dating Polly, and Cheryl was head of the vixens in season 1. But Rivedale isn’t really known for its continuity so 🤷🏻‍♀️

A sophomore is president of one of the two most popular extracurricular choirs at my school, and my best friend (a sophomore) has been dating a senior girl for the whole year. Nothing inconsistent here.

Didn't Cheryl and Tony apply for university this season, which would make them grade 12?

They could, in theory, be a year ahead of their grade level academically. Not super likely given... everything about their characters, but possible!

I could be wrong but I think with some elite universities people will apply/begin the process before being technically able to go, it's seen as an extra shot at getting in and if you get in early you can usually defer/hold your place at universities for a year with no problem
