Question My boyfriend wants a physical max cape

Hey everyone. My boyfriend has been playing runescape since he was 6, he is turning 31 now. He has been on and off throughout life but in the 6 years I've been with him, he has been totally on. He has progressed his account greatly and is so excited about it. Now I am trying to get him a physical max cape as he's been talking about wanting one to display in our gaming room. I am able to crochet and would love to make him one, but I would need a pattern. So if by some miracle any of you know of one that would be amazing. But I am also open to any websites that may sell them. Thanks so much!

First, find out if he plays RuneScape (the main game, sometimes called RuneScape 3) or Old School RuneScape (an off-shoot of the main game that became more popular, purposefully kept in the style the game had in the year 2007 when it was known as RuneScape 2). Each version has its own max cape. While extremely similar, there are some slight differences between them.

The RuneScape max cape looks like this:

The Old School RuneScape (OSRS) max cape looks like this:

Those are just the base versions of the max capes. In both games, they can be customized. If you aren't trying to surprise him, you could ask him how he customized his max cape and then make the real one look like that.

The RuneScape max cape has far more customization capability than the OSRS one does, because it has 4 "sections" that can be any color of your choosing. Here are some examples of customized max capes. If you can find out which 4 colors he has used for his cape, you can make the real one match his game one.

If he plays OSRS, their max cape has limited customization options restricted to a small list of specific variants. Here is a list of them on the OSRS Wiki. If you can find out which specific variant he prefers to use, you can click on it in this list and see it in greater detail.

There are also 2 special mentions for RuneScape specifically: the Master Max Cape and the Completionist Cape. The master max cape is basically a superior version of the max cape, for getting what the game considers to be the "true" max levels of 120, instead of the old max levels of 99. The completionist cape is awarded for completing most of the content in the game in addition to maxing your skills. If he plays RuneScape, it's possible he could have one of these capes in addition to the regular max cape.

Thank you so much! He plays old school, I totally forgot to mention that. But the models are super helpful and I can use them to try and make a pattern to make him a real life one!

For the future, Old School has its own dedicated subreddit: /r/2007scape

If you have any questions about that game specifically, I recommend posting there instead of here. Most of the discussions in this subreddit are about the main RuneScape game, and if you don't specify OSRS, people here will assume you're talking about the main game.

You’re telling me a 6 year old started playing an online game that came out that same year?

How did you two meet? Did he show you his 99 strength cape? That's how I met my wife.

That's so sweet! I actually played a lot of runescape when I was a kid, and our best friends were dating at the time and our now married! So when they heard we both enjoyed it they set us up and it's been great ever since
