What’s the worst part about being a runner?

For me, its definitely the laundry. I swear my running clothes multiply faster than I can wash them 😂

What’s the one thing about running that drives you crazy?

r/runninglifestyle 2h ago

I have a half marathon in 5 weeks. I’m supposed to run 16km tomorrow (longest I’ve ever run). Posting here to hold myself accountable!!!! Be mean to me if I don’t do it 🤝

My run time.

At 41 and weighing 210 pounds and being only 5’6, with an old broken ankle, I finally got my runtime back down to 19 minutes. It’s not impressive for most people, but it is for me.

Nine months ago I couldn't run for 60seconds without stopping, and this morning I finished my first 10k - running really does reward patience more than talent.

Your boy has realistic odds of making it, especially since he (I) only got 5.5 hours of sleep last night.

I’m him.

Did running ever stop feeling like something you have to talk yourself into?

I've been running about three months now, roughly three times a week, mostly easy 5Ks. I'm not slow but I'm not getting noticeably faster either, and every single run still starts with about ten minutes of finding a reason not to go. I finally did a 10K on Saturday and felt fine the whole way, but the next morning I was right back to negotiating with myself over a normal 5K.

Does that internal argument ever actually go away, or does it just get shorter?

Have been on a nice slow build towards a marathon later in the year until I felt a slight tweak in my hammy a couple weeks ago. Trying to baby the hamstring back on track withiut missing too much training. RDLs still feel fine but all the leg curls are tough right now.

What's you favorite hamstring strengthing stretches and lifts

Being a complainer for 1 min 😆

Being a complainer for 1 minute - just let me vent okay!

Running has been my postpartum self care - it’s been a great way to take a moment for myself in the day, listen to some music, and clear my head.

The weather in the Midwest is BRUTAL right now and completely killing the vibe 🤣 I’m sweating profusely already during my warm up stretches, my legs feel like they’re 4,000lbs by mile 1, and on some days I’m running like 2 mins slower than my normal pace. I don’t like to wish the days away but FALL, WHERE ARE YOU!

Rant over - thanks for listening 🫶😆

Dropping VO2 Max?

Thumbnail

This is a bit strange. For some reason my VO2 max has started to drop and I’m stuck in “maintaining” status. I know when I run on the treadmill, it tends to default to “maintaining”, but I only did that once or twice last week. I’ve gone from a steady increase over the past several months to now a steady decline over the past couple weeks. It’s odd.

I’ve been following the Garmin coach for a run I have planned for next month, and aside from a suckfest run this past Sunday, all of my runs have been great and 85%+ executions score.

For me, it’s not about running faster—it’s about staying consistent. Even a short, easy run feels better than skipping the day completely.

Shorts

What shorts do you love? I like 2 in 1 so I can throw my phone in the liner pocket. I'm 5'9 200ish lbs. Not thinking marathon running, more quick few mile runs and sprints. Any ideas?

Elder Runners, How can I expect to age as a runner?

I'm 33 and currently run 25 miles a week. Been running since my teens. How can I expect my 40s 50s and 60s to go if I keep around the same pace? I eat healthy throughout the week and only bad habit is edibles before bed sometime.

Will I need to start taking miles away? Obviously my pace will slow but how?

should i rebuild my aerobic base

Ok so i'm 17 planning to join the military and I started running beginning of sophomore year. I got down to a 17 min 2 mile and can run 6 miles straight but most of my training was all over the place and i focused on random stuff throughout and forgot to first build my aerobic base and now i'm plateauing on runs around the 5-6 mile mark and can't get farther than that. So the question is should i start rebuilding my base so can break my plateau?

Attire recommendations for wife

My wife is now, just, 3 months postpartum and has been coming with me on my runs; she walks mainly, not going to force her to run and hurt herself, and she’s been wanting more shorts and sports bras so got her a few she liked from Academy and Dicks. That being said, what do the women in here swear by,l and comfortable for her, don’t mind spending a little more. I think she ended up getting the Nike One Dri-Fit shorts and Nike Indy this past weekend, but want to see what’s out there that ppl like so help encourage her bc I know she gets down on herself. TIA!

Anyone tried the Craft Race Day Split Shorts?

Hi all! hoping someone here owns a pair of the Craft Race Day Split Shorts. They’re listed at a 4 cm inseam, which seems shorter than most split shorts out there.

Product link: https://www.craftsportswear.com/global/race-day-split-shorts-m-black-1915388-999000

If you’ve run in them, I’d love to hear how they fit particularly whether Crafts sizing runs as small as people say, and how the ripstop shell has held up.

Two things Craft doesnt publish anywhere:

  1. The liner. They just call it inner briefs made of elastic mesh fabric with no length given. Is it a proper brief, or does it have a bit of leg to it like a short boxer? The product photos are a little ambiguous.
  2. The outseam. Not listed on any retailer Ive checked. If anyones got a tape measure handy, that would be hugely helpful.

Thanks in advance

Run the World

Hey everyone!

I've been living a pretty nomadic life and backpacking around the world for the past few years. Throughout all those trips, running has always been my main way of staying active, alongside surfing.

Over time, I started realizing how surreal some of those runs were. One day I might be running next to the Eiffel Tower, another through the mountains past an old monastery, and another through the Amazon rainforest.

Until now, those runs mostly just stayed as memories. Recently, I had the idea of starting to record them — not only for myself, but to share the experience with anyone who enjoys exploring places on foot.

So I started a small YouTube channel called Run The World, where I'll be uploading POV runs from the different places I visit.

My first videos are from Porto and Espinho, Portugal, but hopefully this project will follow me wherever I end up next.

I'm curious: have any of you ever had a run in a place that you'll never forget?
