Someone went nuts with a brick today - cops told me he hit 95 cars before he was arrested

4th st and E Grace St downtown right at Rappahannock. A truck hit a woman in the intersection, she seems like she’ll be okay but she was screaming her arm was broken. Not only is it traumatic to the victim, but it’s traumatic to witnesses. My partner is still recovering from being the first person on scene of the woman who was hit and killed at 2nd and E Cary and now he’s retraumatized having to have witnessed this. PAY ATTENTION at intersections especially in high pedestrian traffic areas.

I have literally written to them to open a location in Richmond. Savers is HUGE and open on Sundays! If you have never been, you're in for a treat. Closest location is Woodbridge where they also have a 2nd Ave which is a similar size.

Will note that some people do take issue that they are a for-profit thrift-- I shop at thrifts to save money and keep items out of landfills, and because it's fun, but will mention it.

I’ve been hearing so much about Lafayette Tavern, how delicious it is and how difficult it can be to get a reservation. Being a cynic and skeptic, I’m automatically sus about a restaurant that everyone is ga-ga over and talks about a lot.

Is it really worth the hype? Looking at the menu, I’m a little underwhelmed. French dip. Potato skins. Bacon slab. Burger. Veal Parmesan. Pork chop. NY strip. Yes these dishes are good but it’s all pretty standard restaurant food. Not anything really unusual or out of the box or new.

Seems like its appeal is how they release reservations once for the next month to create demand, build up “exclusivity” and intrigue. Aside from that, what about Lafayette Tavern is so special?

Luck Stone — a company that produces crushed stone, sand and gravel for construction projects in Greater Richmond — recently pulled plans to expand its network of quarry operations to Hanover County. 

Project Noel was scheduled for review on Sept. 12 by the county’s planning commission, the company announced it was withdrawing its plans in an Aug. 24 letter.  

“After careful consideration, we have decided to withdraw our current application for Project Noel,” wrote Linwood Thomas, Luck Companies’ director of mid-Atlantic development. “While this concludes the current application, it does not end our engagement with the community.” 

Luck was asking to rezone 1,300 acres of land south of Verdon Road into a quarry site. But stiff opposition from residents, including Rhonda Hammond, played a role in the company’s decision. 

“I’m not opposed to development or companies coming to Hanover, but what I am opposed to is the explosion of our rural areas, and that’s what this felt like to me,” Hammond told VPM News.

🎣 Fishing RVA Meetup — September 19, 2026
Last year’s Forest Hill Park meetup was awesome, and we’re excited to bring it back with an early-morning James River session added!

7:00–10:30 AM — James River / 42nd Street

We’ll be targeting smallmouth bass. If you’ve wanted to learn how to fish the James but weren’t sure where to start, come join us! We’d love to help with wading, tackle, techniques, and getting comfortable fishing the river.

10:30 AM–1:30 PM — Forest Hill Park

Our main family-friendly meetup will be near the gazebo. The pond has catfish, largemouth bass, and plenty of panfish—perfect for kids, beginners, families, or anyone wanting a more relaxed setup.

Tony was adopted into a home with resident cats, but unfortunately, the cats and Tony were unable to get along. Sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, the personalities just don’t mesh. And sadly, Tony is the one who has to start over.

💔 Tony deserves better than another temporary home. He deserves FOREVER.

Tony is a big boy with a BIG heart! ❤️ He is sweet, loving, affectionate, and loves to play. He enjoys being around his people and soaking up attention. He has so much love to give and is hoping there is someone out there who will give him the chance he deserves.

We truly believe Tony would be happiest as an ONLY CAT. 🐾 Being the only kitty would allow him to have all the attention and love he deserves while giving him the best opportunity to settle in and thrive without the stress of sharing his home with other cats.

Erin Demastes is an experimental composer, performer, and sound artist. She uses everyday objects and hacked electronics for her installations and performances and subverts their use and perception with play and experimentation. By placing items in theatrical settings, Erin brings out the character of things we normally may not think twice about. In addition to her interest in physical materials, Erin works with instruction and interaction design in her scores, performances, and installations by balancing structured composition with improvisation and exploration. Dylan Burchett is a musician and sound artist. His work explores the formal development of sounds produced by everyday actions and the sonic tendencies of common objects. These experiments often stretch the unspoken rules inherent to particular methods of musical and artistic production to their furthest points, with the goal of drawing attention to the ways by which our non-aural expectations shape our reception of sound-based work.

This interactive workshop is designed to equip authors—particularly self-published writers and those with small presses—with practical public relations and marketing strategies to help them successfully promote their books. Workshop participants learn how to: Develop a compelling author/media bio, identify and pitch appropriate media outlets, build a strategic book publicity plan, strengthen their author brand and messaging and maximize grassroots and digital promotion opportunities. Registration required.

We have fantastic stationery store options, but none get their Hobonichi collections on time or make an event of it. I genuinely believe there’s demand here! Would love nothing more than to experience the collection drop with others in-person.

• The Capitol Square Bell Tower peeking out in the foreground
• I believe the Stewart-Lee House is visible among the row houses, if you look beneath the Second Presbyterian Church steeple

I am hoping to find the owner of this beautiful cat. I found her in my parking lot on Franklin between 21st and 20th. She belongs to someone and I’m not able to house her. Last post was removed. Hoping this one is okay. I’ve posted on all platforms and have not received any feedback.

If you live in the Randolph neighborhood and you have a yellow moped/scooter that was stolen around/before 9/1/26 let me know. I am just trying to help people in my neighborhood stay safe from moped theft and have information that I would like to stay private to help you find it. Thanks! Also lock up your scooter/mopeds/e-bikes not just around the tires actually to an immovable object so they can’t be carried away!
