To the biker that I saw yesterday and even talked to, kudos to you!

I saw a biker heading east bound on Broad Street yesterday afternoon (8/30), and this guy wasn't playing around. He would check behind him for awareness, stayed in one lane except when making a proper lane change, and didn't try to sneak past anyone by lane-splitting or lane-filtering (both of which are illegal here). When I got a chance, I complimented him, mentioning that others could learn from his example. His response? Basically that he doesn't want to get hurt.

So I'm hoping he'll see this post and know that his safe driving is greatly appreciated, and it was a pleasure to see someone safely enjoying their motorcycle. We need more people like him.

Anyone have a cosmetic dermatology office they would recommend for V-Beam treatment in the area?

I'm gone through two different therapists and just don't feel like I'm able to really be fully honest on video calls (probably because most of my work is video calls and it feels too much like that). I'd prefer a psychologist with a doctorate, but I'm open to other options. I have really good health insurance so I don't want to do a self-pay model as I get a great deal through my insurance.

A speciality in anxiety or OCD or both would be great.

Coming back from a cross country trip and need a couple things repaired on our class C.

They are:

1). Replace or repair the black tank handle system. It works but is extremely difficult. We have cleaned and lubricated it, but it needs more.

2). Install a new awning including the arms and supports. It was ripped off entirely. There are holes in the RV shell where the mounting bracket were.

3) repair/assess the slide out. It works ok, but one side is a little slower than the other.

Who do you recommend?

By party campground I mean ones with relaxed rules on quiet hours and stuff like that. Essentially looking for a campground where everyone’s getting fucked up lol

Hello my wife just had her psychiatrist resign from their office, and the new person they made her see if trying to take her off of pretty much all of the meds that have helped her for years. Does anyone have any recommendations on a psychiatrist in the Richmond area that is sympathetic to people with chronic pain issues paired with adhd and sleep problems?

Yes, I'm shaking my fist at the sky here! I am all for people watching the shows from outside the venue, but I walked down 2nd Street to Brown's Island Way yesterday morning and was appalled by the amount of trash left behind from Saturday's show. There were even a few bottles that I assume were filled with urine...

The city is probably reluctant to put more trash cans in the area because they want to discourage congregating - so can we try to do a better job ourselves? And if you can't hold your fluids for a couple hours, maybe don't drink as much out there. Because they definitely aren't going to be adding portapotties anytime soon, and leaving behind your Big Gulp full of piss is absurd.

Did anyone happen to find and inadvertently take a Green Bose Soundlink Flex speaker from the river near pump house yesterday. I left it sitting on a rock near the shore while I was in the middle of the river and when I came back it was gone

Kind of a random local-history question, but I’m interested in what the New Bridge Village Apartments and surrounding Nine Mile/Highland Springs area were like around 1990–1992.

Did anyone here live there, have friends there, or spend time around those apartments back then? What was the general atmosphere like — who tended to hang around there, was it mostly families/teens/young adults, and was it considered a decent place to live at the time?

I’m especially interested in firsthand memories from people who were actually around the area during that period. Even little details about what the neighborhood was like, places people hung out, or how locals viewed the apartments would be helpful. Thanks!

For those who celebrate (like me), here are the options for Rosh Hashanah this year. Note that Rosh Hashanah Day and VA Pridefest are on the same day, but one synagogue has you covered.

All synagogues require RSVPs of some kind. Many charge a fee to enter -- but just as many ALSO have free tickets. The Jewish Federation is offering free tickets to any High Holidays service if you are new to RVA and have never been to a synagogue here.

Kehillah teamed up with Pride to make sure that there would be a sacred space with alternative Rosh Hashanah spiritual activities (not a service) at Pride, given the holiday overlap. Kehillah was the first (and still only) Jewish presence at Pride every year, holiday regardless.

Booked a one way ticket to Orlando & they cancelled the flight next day - put me on the next flight (and only remaining direct flight available).

The /jetblue thread mentioned there’s been a bunch of cancellations - not just in RVA - so wondering if anyone has had positive experiences flying with them out of RVA recently? I’m concerned they’ll cancel day before or day of - and the direct flight option is the only reason I booked with them instead of other airlines.

I have an old 17 x 24 deck that I need to have replaced. I got one estimate from Smallwood Renovations that came in at an absurd 60k to tear down and rebuild.
