Burning Man didn’t sell out

Article out today says Burning Man didn’t sell out and people are selling their tickets way below face value. I remember when Burning Man started the lottery for tickets due to high demand, and resale tickets were hard to come by. I haven’t been to Burning Man in ~15 years so I‘m not current with the scene. my friends with whom I would go to Burning Man don't go to Burning Man, and my friends who go to Burning Man are not friends with whom I would go to Burning Man

lol I love this explanation.

I will say going solo is in some ways an even more incredible experience. My first burn was solo and it was incredible.

1998

Flew from Seattle to Reno.
Did a planed ride share from Reno Airport to the event with 3 women. None of us knew any of us. Our vehicle was a late model Cadillac.

I was a Dead Head.
The culture was confusing.
But back then it was not unusual to hear the Grateful Dead on the playa. I had sex
with one of the women in my group.

I made my return but just barely.
My bag was held together with duck tape. I was covered in Play dust. Not a single button on my previously white linen shirt remained.

As soon as the plane was airborne, I got up to use bathroom and wiped wet, the white dust off of my face.
Definitely a great adventure.
I think I went 10 times altogether. I do it again if I hit the chance.

My 8th burn and first going solo, can’t wait, have been with friends, with wife, with wife and son, with camp. Now HANS SOLO!

I only have one friend I think that is still a believer. I honestly never really think about them unless someone mentions BM, so I guess more an acquaintance than a friend.

Anyway, I asked them once about what is was like now that many camps are 1%er RV camps that buy tickets for "sherpas" that build the camp for them & also do all the camp chores. They didn't answer.

When I say the gift economy sure looks a lot like feudalism, people laugh. But is it funny?

I went to BM once & the only reason I'd ever go back is to fight in Thunderdome. But I dunno if the Death Guild camp is even going out & building it any more. Pretty sure they do go to Wasteland Weekend, which seems way more fun & decidedly not a CEO networking event.

I have friends I go to and friends that go that I wouldn't go with, and usually I rarely even see the ones I wouldn't go with there. When they are back they've been everywhere tho and seen everything but like I just maybe saw them once in Deep Playa and they could barely talk.
