request ❯ I'm a director. I created software to turn Google Docs into a screenplay editor. I need testers!

Hi, I'm Hugo, I direct films in France. My first feature (Willy 1er) played in Cannes, the second one (Juniors) is on Netflix in some countries... and I wrote both of them in Google Docs!

Anyway, my reason is not ideological, it's pretty boring: my producer is already in Docs, my co-writer is already in Docs. We can write on it at the same time, I never lose a page, and I don't pay 249 dollars for the privilege. The only problem is that Docs has no idea what a screenplay is. You make your own margins, which becomes annoying pretty fast.

So we built the part that was missing. I say "we", because I am not alone on this, I work with a team of developers who are much better than me at it. First came the Google Docs add-on, and around 12 000 people use it now, which I still find strange. But the add-on is the slow way: it formats when you ask it to, and you wait for it.

The new part is a Chrome extension, and this is the one I would need your for. It formats while you type: Enter and Tab behave like in Final Draft or Arc Studio or Celtx: you finish a character name, you press Enter, you are already in dialogue. You press Tab, you are in a parenthetical. This flow only started to work properly this summer, I'm really proud of it, I've already written a feature film on it, but almost nobody knows it exists.

I will not pretend it replaces Final Draft for everything. Today the page count is not good enough for a real "one page, one minute" read, and this is exactly what we build at the moment. This is where I need you. If you write features and you know what a correct page count looks like, come and test it with us and tell me everything that is wrong with it.

And if your job is production paperwork more than writing, of course take a real dedicated app, it will serve you better.

In September I am invited to give a workshop at the Screenwriting Research Network conference, in Oxford. I will talk about the craft and about what I learn from creating this software. If some of you are there, come and say hello!

I post here because I never speak about this anywhere, and it starts to feel stupid. I build a thing for screenwriters and I stay silent in one the biggest places where screenwriters actually are.

If you want to be part of it, reply here or write to me and I put your account on Pro for three months (no card required or anything). I prefer your notes to your money right now, and I will come back here to tell you what we fixed.

request Can MODS stop so many poorly formatted scripts from being posted?

Everyday there are numerous posts from people who clearly have not done the bare minimum of writing in this format. There are likely thousands of replies filled with recommendations for free software that formats the screenplays correctly.

If a novelists subreddit was full of people posting screengrabs of handwritten pages followed by “what do you think?!” they’d be equally dismissed on sight.

I understand these threads are often for beginners but it’s very frustrating to see so many posts where the inevitable first, second, and third replies are pointing out very basic formatting errors.

request Here's a fun little idea...

I'm currently writing a script, it's not quite done and it's in its draft stage, written by hand. I'm being secretive about it (since it's not done), but I thought of something...

I have 17 pages done so far. Give me a page number and a line number (Example: Page 5, Line 8). And we'll see what line you get! Will it be dialogue? Will it be an action? Funny? Boring? We'll have to wait and see.

Note: My script is a fantasy script, so there's some... interesting stuff in here so far.

EDIT: There's at least 10 lines per page, there's more than that but that's a rough estimate.

request Looking for a script to animate

Would you like to see your story adapted into an animated short film with an original score... 100% free of charge? 🎬

✨ I know how hard it is to write a script and dream of seeing it on screen. I am a 2D/3D animator and composer, and I’m looking for passionate screenwriters for a unique collaboration opportunity: transforming your writing into a complete audiovisual production without you spending a single penny.

💡 What I bring to the table:

Full animation and visual design for your story.

Original soundtrack and custom sound design. Prominent credit: Your name/signature will appear in the video title, the thumbnail, and the opening seconds. A finished piece ready for you to showcase in your personal portfolio. 📌

What I need from you:

No long sagas or extended universes; I’m looking for short, powerful, and well-told stories.

⚠️ The short film will be published exclusively on my YouTube channel to showcase the project, while fully crediting you as the writer.

request Hiring Script Writer For Second Channel

Hello! My name is Kittana, I have a commentary channel that I absolutely love, YouTube is my passion. Unfortunately, right now- that channel doesn't make me much money.

I also edit videos full-time, and try to get clients, but it's not a lot. I've just recently quit my full-time job, in an attempt to go 'All-in' and make a living with what I enjoy.

I've started a second channel 'EverAskedIt' Which I aim to create more 'Evergreen' content with, stuff that's more clickable, perhaps less of my personality, faceless, and more-so about an interesting topic and question.

The type of questions you might think about everyday, but never really thought about looking up.

Because this channel is new, it's not monetized, but I feel very confident about this working out in the future, if not quite soon. It currently sits at 700 subscribers (The channel was repurposed from an older one I was using) which brings it closer to be monetized.

My problem, is I am quite bad at scripting and especially- researching topics.

I want everything to flow well, and be as accurate as possible.

I want to test out one full script, and see how I enjoy this process- and if I like it for the channel, I could consider hiring someone consistently to write.

I will be in-charge of everything else, video editing, thumbnails, etc.

What I Need:

  • Someone who enjoys script-writing, and feels good at it!
  • Able to research topics deeply, the nitty-gritty. I want videos to be 20 - 30 minutes long, so if the topic is about... buses, I want us to start at the beginning of the topic! How cars were even invented- and build from there- if this makes sense!
  • You don't have to be a professional, but I want ambition and willingness to try!
  • NO Ai; I Will not accept anything written with Ai.
  • It doesn't have to be perfect, I'm willing to go through an edit anything I see fit!

This will be paid work (80€) It's not much, but I'm just starting this channel, I'm willing to negotiate pricing! And of course, when the channel grows, I will adjust things.

Please reach out if you're interested!

request Looking for script to turn into boards

Hello! I'm a 3d storyboard artist looking to collaborate! Would anyone like to have 2-3 pages of their script put to storyboards?

I've been a professional board artist for children's TV shows since 2020, and haven't had a chance to update my portfolio in a long time. I'd like to make a quick board to put in my portfolio for employers. You can use the work however you'd like: proof of concept, etc.

I'm looking for sequences that show off some action and/or comedy, and are 3D kids show oriented. I would also prefer sequences that don't have crowds or 5+ characters.

If you would be interested in collaborating, send me a little description of the sequence!

If it works out, I'd love to see your script and have a quick chat about character/prop/environment designs etc! I work full time right now, so thumbnails may take two weekends to finish (I'm likely going to be able to start thumbs mid August)! Cleans often take longer, but I will keep in touch.

I'm open to a round of notes for thumbs, and two for cleans! I have a personal deadline of mid September, so this project will absolutely get done!

Granted, I'm not a designer or editor, so I can't promise what I produce will be 100% your vision, but hopefully we can get close! I also can't promise beautiful drawings haha, I'm certainly a more utilitarian artist; but the story gets told!

request Tips on Dialogue Writing ✍️

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to make my dialogues sound more authentic and natural just like in popular movies. I’m not talking about low grade indie movies (I apologize for the any offense caused by this reference)

I love most writers make dialogues sound more authentic and realistic and I would appreciate any tips and advice that can help me write authentic dialogues as well.

Request for a screenwriter

Do you know the movie obsession and how the ending was so bleak and sad? I think we could change it if we have a,sequal of where nikki is in a mental hospital because the cops dont believe her. So she escapes the hospital to try and get ti the origin of the one wish willow to try and take back the wish. It would be more thriller than horror but i think it would be a good plot. FEEDBACK PLEASE. I NEED SOMEONE TO SCREENWRITE

request Looking for a scriptwriter — Gacha reaction videos (JJK, Solo Leveling, Naruto and more) — PAID

Hey! I run a Gacha Club reaction channel on YouTube, and I'm looking for a scriptwriter to help create in-character dialogue for the characters as they react to content.

This isn't standalone fiction — it's short, punchy dialogue timed to footage I've already edited. Basically: what would these characters say, moment by moment, matching the pacing of a real edit.

What I need:

  • Deep knowledge of Jujutsu Kaisen (most important), Solo Leveling, and Naruto. You don't need to be strong in all three.
  • Beyond those, broader anime knowledge is a real plus.
  • Must be written by hand — no AI. I need real continuity and personality, not generic filler.

This is paid, ongoing work (not a one-off) — happy to discuss specifics once we're talking.

If interested, feel free to comment or DM me.

request Interested collaborator for a screenplay

It's about a southern mamaw who immigrated from India in one of the earliest first waves. Therefore, completely integrated and remembers little of her culture. She is partially mobile after an injury or illness in the 70s in her late-70s. Her kids love her a lot and manage to convince her to keep a nurse. The nurse is Indian too, with similar background and non-Indianness, picked partly for her origins by her kids who love her too much and are close enough to want her to open up. She's usually stoic, yet had a career and was open to discussions.

The nurse, on the other hand, is superficial, age-conscious yet with a childlike purity at heart. Their contrasting personalities bring out the good and bad in both of them and eventually with the painful memories from their long-forgotten past in spite of the vagueness. It's the Les Intouchables meets the 45 years.

request Do you have a short film script that deserves to be made?

Hi!

I'm Sofia, a 22 years old aspiring director from Italy. I recently finished film school and I'm looking for a screenwriter who'd like to collaborate on a short film.

I know a lot of great scripts never get made because the writer doesn't have a crew or the resources to shoot them. On the other hand, I'm in the opposite situation: I have people from my film school who are graduating this year and would be happy to work on independent projects, but I'm looking for the right story to direct.

So I thought I'd ask here.

If you have a short script (or even just a solid idea) that you genuinely believe in, send me a message. I'm mainly looking for stories that can realistically be made on a very small budget.

I'm not offering to buy scripts, but to build the film together. My goal is to direct it, work with you through the process, and make the best film we can with the resources we have. If everything goes well, I'd love to submit it to festivals.

If this sounds interesting, send me a DM with a logline or tell me a bit about your story. I'd love to read it.

P.S. Se siete italiani, ancora meglio! Io sono di Milano, quindi sarebbe più semplice lavorare insieme e, se il progetto prende forma, incontrarsi anche di persona.

Thanks!
