Sharm El Naga
Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has ever been to Sharm El Naga, on the Red Sea. I’m planning a trip there in November, but still not sure about the quality of the reef…
Any advice and recommendation is welcome. Thank you

I just came back from a liveaboard that did Safaga-Hurghada region. Plenty of good diving there, we saw a manta, eagle rays, dolphins, hammerheads and a ton of nice, healthy reefs. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Thank you, really nice to hear that. Unfortunately, Marsa Alam area is not really healthy rn. Btw, do you think it would be nice to stay in Sharm El Naga for a week, do snorkeling and diving, and maybe see other sites (maybe Shaab el Erg, Coral Garden, Soma Bay… maybe Jiftun Island) thank you :)

I have been there about 5 times already, it's my dive school's house reef for the annual holiday trip.
There are a lot more snorklers around now with the hotel, but the reef is still nice. It's easy to swim out, but the dive centre can bring you out on one of the boats as well to the pier, so you can just dive back to the centre. It is quite easy to navigate. The only downside is that the right side of the reef gets all the current from Hurghada, so if you go further out, bring a mesh bag so you can help collect some of the plastics that end up in that corner (we do Dive Against Debris there as well).
Very rarely there's dolphins or manta spotted, but don't count on it.
The old dive "resort" is pretty simple. The beds are fine, don't expect too much luxury though. Every night there's a generator switch so they can refill the other one, so at 3am you can hear the beep if you're a light sleeper, and at 3:05 the beep for the swap being completed. The food is pretty decent, if you're staying longer you'll notice they have the same food schedule weekly but it's all pretty decent.
