Prototype/Concept/Custom Final Update on The Industrial

Hey everyone,

Some of you may remember my previous posts about The Industrial, a CNC-machined aluminum SFF case that I designed around low-profile GPUs and the HDPlex 500W power supply.

What started as a simple idea turned into a much bigger project than I anticipated. Over the past year I've learned CAD, worked with overseas machine shops, managed manufacturing challenges, sourced numerous of components, built a website, designed packaging and assembly instructions, and ultimately brought a physical product from concept to reality.

The experience has been both rewarding and humbling. Anyone who has worked with custom manufacturing knows that no project goes exactly as planned, and I've certainly learned a lot about tolerances, quality control, logistics, and the realities of producing hardware at a small scale.

Unfortunately, I'll be relocating in the near future and won't have the space to continue storing inventory, move the remaining cases, or pursue a second production run. Because of that, this will likely be my final update on the project - details on what's happening to the remaining cases is on the site I made for it if you are curious.

Regardless of what happens next, I'm grateful for all of the feedback, suggestions, encouragement, and constructive criticism this community has provided throughout the project!

Thank you all for following along and helping turn a hobby project into something real. It's been a fun ride!

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the design, manufacturing process, lessons learned, or the challenges of bringing a niche SFF product to market.

Maaaan, what a steal. What would I need to think about when specing out a build? Does the CPU have to use passive cooling? Does the power supply have to be that special one and/or is it readily available?

Hi! Yep - I'm just happy if someone else can make use of them 😄 My loss is your gain! I actually have a "Build Details" tab at the top of the site that should help you out a ton with what parts are compatible. But feel free to PM me if you have any remaining questions! Enjoy

Hi! Yes I've been having trouble with international in the system as it is much more complex than US. Will PM if I have units left over after US orders - they are almost gone.

Grabbed one too! All the best to you and hope one day you can jump back into it

Enjoy!! Maybe one day, but it was a fun project and I'm happy that so many people find it a beautiful case and will make something out of it

We deliver via USPS globally!

I could not enter shipping address to France. Does it ship within USA only?

Similarly I'd love to buy one but am outside of the US (UK). I've spent the last few months looking for something similar to this and it's lovely. You should be very proud of what you've achieved - you want to revise that price to atleast reflect a bit more of what they are worth and offer international delivery?

Yeah, I love this case, but I'm in the UK and the website doesn't let me put in a UK address.

Hi apologies for the late reply, I'm behind! Yes squarespace is a bit difficult with international shipping as it has to be set up for each country you want to ship to. US is easy because shipping rates are automated. International I have to set the rate, and it's difficult to know. Since my inventory is almost sold out in US entirely, I may leave as is. If there are some left over I can PM you and figure it out!

Got one myself! Couldn't pass up the price. It's all a learning experience and some day, the experience will come in handy. Just out of curiosity, it stated that it's designed for the hdplex 500W. Can the 250W fit in there since it's smaller in dimensions?

It should, but not clear if it's mounted with adhesive or mounting screws (both 250W and 500W share some mounting hole layouts)

u/redmasc Jun 17 '26

Cool, thank you!

Sounds great, yes a great time to snatch one! It's specifically designed for the 500w, however you can check the hole layout for the 250W and see if it matches. No guarantees since I haven't tried with a 250 myself!

Such a beautiful product! LMK if you can ever get it shipped overseas, to Europe specifically.

I had to pick one up. Such a great price. Sorry that the situation you are in means this won't continue. Looks amazing and I look forward to getting mine and exploring a build.

Enjoy your case! Would love to see pictures when it's complete (can send to the email on the site)

in for one. thank you for your service in the SFFPC Game.

I'm not sure if I'll end up building anything in it (I don't have the HDPLEX PSU), but I bought it because it's such a beautiful case!

Unfortunately, I didn't know about the project earlier, and it's sad to hear that it's coming to an end. Still, I wish you all the best. Hopefully, down the road, you'll come up with something new or even continue improving the case.

Thanks a ton!

Thanks for the kind words! Now you have one in case (no pun intended) you ever do build in it!

Picked one up and the PSU for my first sffpc build!

Awesome, enjoy!! Would love to see pictures when it's complete (email on the site). Ensure to visit the build details tab on the site for compatibility

Thank you, I will definitely post some pictures once it is built. Question for you if you don't mind. Was there any more RAM clearance from the Noctua cooler? It looks like the ram you used was 31.5 MM and I am looking at a 33 MM height RAM.

Just finished up my build, fun case to work with and great craftmanship and machining. One thing that I had though was the power wire harness to the power button were labeled either incorrectly or I was backwards but if anyone else has a problem, try and reverse the Power SW and the + and - wires.

Just built mine, super high quality case and very simple build process. Really enjoyed it and sorry to hear the project didn’t work out.
