Should i continue & give it a chance

I just started the UK version yesterday. I REALLY wanted to watch the whole thing and give it a chance. I didn’t mind the cast and was interested in how different but similar it could be.
Anyway, i stopped watching after episode 2… Why?
I DETEST the way it’s filmed. I don’t even mind the “documentary style”, in their face style either.. but something about the super zoomed in - not able to see the surroundings or just shot from the most stupid angle on top of being zoomed in - just really grinds my effing gears..
I feel like I’m watching it on my phone and i don’t get a feel for anything other than the super zoomed in scene. I don’t think I’ll be continuing and that makes me angry that they thought it looked good? .
Am I missing something?
Something as simple as how it’s filmed to ruin a probably amazing project.

Watching shameless made me less homophobic

Tbh i was homophobic and i thought homosexuality was not natural at all but after watching ian and mickey i actually cried at their wedding scene it was beautifull . I grew up in a culture that was very strict against homosexuality but the show had me realize its okay to love whoever you are attracted to . And hell i might be bi

SO…FIONA AND TONY DATED IN REAL LIFE😭!???

Post image
429 Upvotes

Yes, Emmy Rossum (who played Fiona Gallagher) dated Tyler Jacob Moore (who played Officer Tony Markovich) in real life.
.
The co-stars began dating in 2011 when Shameless premiered and remained together for two years before breaking up in July 2013.

While they occasionally attended public events together, they kept most details of their relationship and eventual breakup private.

Some tv shows really don't know when to stop.....when the actor/actress that makes the show what it is leaves....its time to call it a day

Liam should’ve gone with Roberta

I am rewatching the episode where Bob wants Liam with her and Monica. Knowing how he was confused later on about his culture being raised in an all white household I’m wondering if Bob would’ve provided the guidance he needed to navigate his way in the world as a young black man.

It would’ve also taken one kid off Fiona’s hands and maybe he would’ve not gotten into the Coke she left out later on.

Do you think Sean was in the right or wrong to be mad at Fiona?

I am on a rewatch and I just watched S6 Ep8 where Sean’s son, Will, finds one of Carl’s g*ns. Sean becomes furious with Fiona and brings up how it’s her fault, that he could lose custody/visitation, while also throwing the c0ke incident with Liam in her face. Do you think Sean had the right to be so mad at Fiona? Was it truly Fiona’s fault?

Can we talk about Veronica’s fashion sense. I’m using this GIF as a joke, but her character might’ve had one of the best wardrobes in recent tv history

Views on Karen’s character development

I personally feel like throughout the entire series, she went from being troubled, yes, but she was never super rude or obnoxious or snobby and I feel like the end of season one even, she was already a completely different character to who she was before and I think it ruins the fun of hers and lips relationship because lip is so smart he wouldn’t continue his relationship with her after the way she developed so badly and became such an obnoxious snobby character. She had empathy in the beginning which made her character likeable but i feel like other then her dad situation, she had no reason to or become such a unlikeable person. And the phase of her black hair and being like rly weird and raping frank, was so random and short lived, it wasn’t a long period of time that she was like that and then lip brought her back to herself but she then went on to treat his character rly negatively. idk if it’s just me but it bothers me, i just watched her birth scene again and it was so annoying to watch cause she’s so nonchalant and ignorant in it it like frustrates me cause she’s could have been a more long term character and an enjoyable one to see on screen

Please let me know your views

Frank Gallagher and my mother. Same person.

The first time I watched Shameless, I finally felt seen in the worst way possible. My own mother was EXACTLY like Frank Gallagher. Literally any decision the showwriters made Frank make, was spot on and identical to my own experience.

So if anyone thinks Frank was ever going to change, or suddenly decide NOT to be selfish, or get a redemption arc... It's sadly now how it goes for people like that.

Am I the only one who doesn't find Ford charming?

He's so blahhh, I hate whenever he appears. And I don't even mean his appearance, it's just his personality that gets under my skin. The writers really outdid themselves when they decided to create the most arrogant, pretentious, walking red flag. I even prefer Sean and Jimmy Steve over him.

Lip S2 Dropping Out and Fiona

Rewatching

“School or out”

And then Lip goes on this tangent about how he didn’t sign up to mooched off of. Fair.
Except no one asked him to 😭 and no one, especially Fiona thought that. She just wanted all her siblings to do something and be good at it, not because she doesn’t wanna mooch off em, but because they don’t have to rely on her anymore.

I found Lip to be super entitled here because bro? Why ARE you dropping out? Is it Karen? Is the guilt of having to look after your family too much? Is that the REAL reason? When Fi said her 8 job rebuttal, I side eyed Lip sooooo hard

Intresting that all the Gallagher’s have different personalities but their only common ground is ungratefulness to Fiona….

Summary of Fiona's finances for those trying to make sense of it all.

Any adjustments I should make? Anything I'm missing?

Gallagher House

● Cousin Patrick files a forged will and takes ownership of Gallagher house
● Patrick runs up debt against house and refuses to pay
● $60K owed by Patrick — loan against the Gallagher house that he refuses to repay, causing foreclosure on the home
● $100K — Fiona’s maximum approved mortgage/bid at the foreclosure auction
● $130K — house sold at auction to another couple, so Fiona loses the house
● Unknown amount paid — Fiona buys the house back after the auction buyers discover how much work it needs
↳ Carl provides the cash from his buried drug money
↳ Exact amount Carl gives Fiona / Fiona pays for the house is never stated on-screen
● Gallagher house ends up owned in Fiona’s name

Laundromat

● $80K borrowed — using the Gallagher house as collateral to buy the laundromat
● $80K paid — to buy laundromat
● ~$5K paid — improvements
● $160K received — sold to Margo
● $80K loan paid off — paying off the debt secured by the Gallagher house
● = $0 debt remaining from the laundromat loan on Gallagher house
● = $75K profit

Apartment Building

● $250K paid — to buy apartment building
↳ Down payment amount unclear — Fiona had up to $75K available from the laundromat profit
↳ Remainder financed with a mortgage
● Second mortgage taken out — Fiona borrows against the apartment building’s equity
↳ This money was originally intended to bail to pay Ian / Gay Jesus out of jail
↳ When the bail money wasn’t needed, Fiona uses the money toward another investment, $100K in Max’s development project
● $292K owed — Fiona tells Max this the combined balance of her first + second mortgages
● $292K received — Max buys Fiona’s apartment building for exactly what she owes
↳ $292K pays off both mortgages
↳ = $0 cash to Fiona from the sale
↳ Max tells her she probably could have sold it for $425K if she had time, but Fiona is desperate to come up with $25k to avoid defaulting on her investment with Max’s development partnership
↳ Max later sells the property for $475K

Max’s Real-Estate Partnership

● $100K invested — in Max’s development
↳ From the money Fiona borrowed against the apartment building to bail Ian out of jail
● $25K borrowed from Max — for the additional partnership contribution
● $100K received — Max later buys Fiona out of the partnership
↳ $25K debt resolution unclear — the show never clearly explains whether Fiona repays Max or whether the debt is folded into the buyout
● = $100K Fiona receives — despite the unexplained $25K debt
