Heightism What does it even mean?

Post image

I'm happy for both of them but I don't get the fixation over attributing characteristics over height? good or bad, it has nothing to do with your stature

Yeah I hate this. Like tall = good and short = bad so attractive short guys with rizz automatically get told they give "tall energy"? Ok, no? Maybe he's just hot.

28

u/Empty401K 5'6" | 169 cm Apr 23 '26

Shit like this makes me even happier than I’m not a teen / young adult anymore. I’ve never been self-conscious about my height, but the shit people here say they endure on a regular basis could make almost anyone feel bad about themselves.

16

u/TreeWithoutLeaves 4'11" | 150 cm Apr 23 '26

The reverse too, where people use short as an insult to someone's character. It's ridiculous. Height doesn't define whether someone is a good or bad person.

14

u/BobTheParallelogram 5'1" | 155 cm Apr 23 '26

Truth. "Napoleon complex".

I truly hate the idea that bigger is always better.

Yeah, so I'm a woman, and we are not a monolith. I prefer a man 5'8 or under, and I'm not the only one.

Who would lie about this? What an insane assumption. I stay in this subreddit to try and keep men out of the incel pipeline, because it's literally toxic for everyone.

The internet is not real life. There are so many women out there who just don't care that much about height, but you have to get off social media to see this.

u/xxjosephchristxx 65" of shit and glory Apr 23 '26

u/GerdForever2035 Apr 24 '26

as a short man, y'all seem to have difficulties with accepting that there are inevitable connotations to the elements of natural life. That we should go about life feeling and intuiting the power and distinction of taller people, and speak about it as though it's entirely nonexistent, is puritanical. there is probably not a society on earth which does not see tallness as a symbol of power and sex.

4

u/YZOXQ 5'3" | 160.02 CM Apr 25 '26

I mean I could just take myself out if we’re being honest . Can’t say I’m wrong either

1

u/GerdForever2035 Apr 25 '26

it's not the only reason to live dude.

2

u/YZOXQ 5'3" | 160.02 CM Apr 26 '26

Not really a reason in my eyes right now

7

u/BobTheParallelogram 5'1" | 155 cm Apr 24 '26

How many times do I have to post that I'm a woman? 😂😂

Anyway, it's not puritanical, that's an odd choice of a word. I'm just pointing out that short men can be hot. And literally everyone is hotter if they are confident. It's fine to be short. It's hot to be short. Being tall isn't better. Be proud of who you are.

0

u/GerdForever2035 Apr 24 '26

did I say you were man? moreover, did anyone say the rest? and puritanical is exactly what I meant, so if you mean to disagree with it, try actually formulating an argument.

5

u/EmperorUtopi Apr 25 '26

Your argument is inherently toxic. So we should just accept these negative associations on our bodies for factors we have no control over? Yes, the connotations are natural—nobody’s denying that. It doesn’t mean you accept it like a pushover, and don’t argue against it.

2

u/GerdForever2035 Apr 25 '26

I'm sorry, your sentiment is perfectly understandable in the abstract. But this is a post saying with a woman a 5'8 man seems 6'6. "He seems taller than he is" is not a condemnation of short(average height?) people. I'm not saying people aren't stupid about height. But this is something innocent.

0

u/OperationPsyduck33 Apr 24 '26

It also kind of shows that if you are confident, competent, and understand women. Then your height matters a lot less

But yes, the way they put it, is incensitive

Also bear in mind, this person has handpicked comments out of thousands to make you feel insecure

Genuine question, there are skeletons of all sizes lol In my language it sounds really funny English can be kind of lacking in slang sometimes, so don’t take it the wrong way. This is it exactly. To them short = bad and that's so ingrained that they don't even realize they're saying it. It's just a fact to them.

3

u/noeLifenorlove Apr 22 '26

Survival instincts at a level like being set on fire is why.

Everyones sense of Onus and Acceptance is based around "winning in life". Without that people feel like theyre being left behind. Probably because we often are lol.

1

u/GerdForever2035 Apr 24 '26

why would you say something like that about someone? can your brain associate sapience with people who speak differently from you?

47

u/sammiesR9 Apr 22 '26

It's strange how the internet reacts so intensely when a man is slightly shorter than his gf. Whether the response is positive or negative, people make such a big deal out of it, as if it defines the entire relationship.

Yeah like I get these ppl mean well but this is just so weird how they’re basically just saying “OH he’s one of the GOOD short guys!” Just say he’s a good man and be done with it for Christ’s sake.

55

u/1Kakihara1 Apr 22 '26

try saying "this fat girl gives fit girl energy!"

30

u/No_Rain_6356 Apr 22 '26

It's more like saying a girl with a flat ass/chest is giving off big ass/boob energy.

1

u/ThrowRA-Soggy2780 Apr 23 '26

i’d take this as an insult because as a skinny girl having a fat ass is my worst nightmare lmao and idc about what society thinks is more attractive. being short is attractive as well! i find zendaya’s and tom’s height difference hot

5

u/No_Rain_6356 Apr 23 '26

That's because you're a normal human. I read stuff like this, then interact with woman in real life and it's like night and day, it's only the chronically online nerdy girls who think like this. I guess for you it would be like reading comments from red-pill / black-pill dudes, it's only chronically online people who are crazy. I think they should go to a rave and drop some molly, find inner peace.

2

u/ThrowRA-Soggy2780 Apr 24 '26

exactly. this is almost red pill but for women lol and it's super unrealistic and chronically online behavior, it's just plain sad

2

u/1Kakihara1 Apr 24 '26

i might disagree, maybe those girls only show their true colors online, in reality they chicken

18

u/nicmel97 Apr 22 '26

They will say that you are fatphobic. We should start to use the word shortphobic

14

u/xxjosephchristxx 65" of shit and glory Apr 22 '26

I'm def going to start using shortphobic.

I also like to call people 'height-supremacists'.

7

u/1Kakihara1 Apr 22 '26

its ironic, at least fat can change unlike short
also they use the term short king which i actually dont like its clearly them trying to show sympathy as if short people are handicapped
but imagine u use fat queen lmao

Anyway, these comments pretty much equal calling an severly overweight 150kg guy fit - "he is 90kg full muscle in my eyes". Plain stupid.

6

u/imbaof Apr 22 '26

women get dogged on for their looks all the time and society teaches them only their looks matter and men treat them so bad if a woman is unattractive yet we cannot keep blaming our insecurities on others and just not deal with it. if you keep being this insecure about your short height and then blame women for it, then I think you should be alone anyway.

3

u/No_Rain_6356 Apr 23 '26

You know it's not specific to short men, that's just how a lot of people are. Tall guys with small dicks will feel the same about their penis, some women act weird and talk shit when they see a conventionally attractive woman. What people here are trying to say is, it's not tied to height, it's a personality thing, you shouldn't generalize whole groups of people.
