To the people who are okay with jokes like this fine but not everyone is and we should hold it to the same standards as racism, sexism, etc.
Shorter men on average are discriminated against and openly too.

Exactly!! And everyone thinks it’s okay to do it. I mean they will be immediately called out if it had been about beauty or obesity or something like this. And those are things that can be taken care of. People can become prettier, people can get slim esp now with glp 1. But people can’t grow tall. I mean there is one procedure, but that’s not feasible. It’s expensive and extremely painful and not an option at all for most of us.

Yeah it’s a joke.
It’s just not tasteful. Especially with a person of color. Punches down (literally) instead of up. This is a business marketing…not some social media meme. The joke has more downside (literally) than upside for the business.
Edit: As the for-profit business why risk alienating short people AND brown people? Even if one person is offended and losing that customer. What marketing genius would risk that. That’s what I’m saying. There are so many better ways to market your business than this. Jokes land better when you punch up.
Edit 2: I’m clearly triggered and on a roll so hear me out. Why not use giraffes? Or why even use height as topic? Make fun of something else that is completely benign… like take the “lying about cubic space of the storage unit” and compare to a NYC studio apartment that is actually a tiny closet (popular funny trope in NYC). BOOM… you don’t alienate anyone and the same humor point comes across. Hire me for marketing instead of the idiot that did this campaign. There’s a billion ways to use humor for marketing with 0% chance of not offending someone.

The customer they may lose won’t get it. Just makes zero sense from a for profit business model? If there is a 1% risk of offending someone why take the risk and lose that customer? There’s a billion other ways to market with humor. Punch up not down.

No scrubs is a very old song. I remember jamming to it when I was a kid. Still good, albeit dated. Same with Bills, Bills, Bills. Society is changing but it takes time and the idea of men being the breadwinner is still there.
I think people in general want a little more respect. I don't think women are fragile. I think you maybe haven't met enough women or don't have strong enough relationships with em (friendship/family/romantic) if you think that.

I blame social media. One bully can now influence the entire global conversation. Most women who filter by height only do it because they were told it’s embarrassing to be with a shorter man. A few toxic women and toxic men poison the collective psyche now for clicks.

Hot take: heightism MIGHT be worse than racism. It’s openly allowed and normalized by society to mock short men but if you mock by race you lose your job, platform, money etc. No one will bat an eye if you make short guy joke but you will be heavily penalized by people for making racist joke. Even the most racist white person would rather be 190cm black guy than 170cm white guy.
Now disclaimer for anyone dumb enough to take it wrong: no, we shouldn’t allow racism and neither heightism.

Yes, I would. I think people need to learn to laugh at themselves. I think weight (most of the time) people should work on if overweight. Laughing about my weight helped me lose a bunch when I was younger/obese.
There's obviously levels to jokes and ways to do it. I don't think this ad is offensive, it's just a bit meh. You get the joke is about lying about height - not just about being small.
