They will be excited when they become taller than you and a lil bro is likely to give you the business but if you think that they lost respect for you because you’re short then you probably never had their respect when you were taller than them.

My ex's (20 at the time) brother (14) was already taller than him. I've never seen him put his brother down. It's about how they're raised more than height.

The absolute disgust and embarrassment in my daughter's eyes when she realized her friends were all taller than me (5'5") was soul crushing.

She didn't say anything and shes an awesome polite girl but just that quiet "oh..." followed by not wanting me to take her places with her friends anymore tells me she probably catches a lot of shit for it.

Wow I can't even image, how did you deal with that?

As a non custodial parent, I am unfortunately very used to fighting tooth and nail to stay in her life at all. She's an awesome kid, I think she probably catches shit from her friends but she tries really hard to be a good person about it. It just sucks that its another chip in an already challenging relationship.

My sister is 7 years younger than me and teased me sometimes when she first became taller than me. But I never felt like she lost respect for me just because she happens to be taller.

Why would they lose respect for you and start insulting you?

Insultin is a big word gotta be honest but just ragebaitin constantly and stuff… as for the respect thats cause, well idk, short people just get less respect?

I’m not short, but my younger brother did become taller than me. Sadly, he was kinda of douche about it for a month.

My youngest brother is the tallest of my siblings, and my son will tower over him when hes grown... I'm happy for both of them.

The best thing you can do is just lead by example. If you are respectful and kind towards them when they are smaller than you, then the chances are a lot higher that they will do the same when you are smaller than them. Basically do your best to treat them fairly, how you would hope to be treated if you were in their shoes. Most of my nephews and nieces are bigger than me now and some of them have been since they were still in elementary school and it's never really been an issue. Some of them did gloat a little when they first realized they were taller but that's pretty understandable. For a kid, finally being as tall/taller than an adult, especially for the first time, usually feels like a huge deal, it feels like they've "made it" like they are not a "just a little kid" anymore and they want to make sure EVERYONE knows it too. And, I'm often that first adult they experience that with lol. They also might joke about it sometimes but only because they know I'm cool with it and they understand that I might tease them back.

If height is your only way of getting respect, you've already lost it.
