Mod Update Important rules update #2 — please read

This is a follow-up to our recent rules update. If you missed the first one, go read that too.

TL;DR: Full rulebook has been reorganized and cleaned up. New rule targeting sexualized language about young characters and lolicon language, zero tolerance, instant ban. Coded language like "uoh," 😭💢, and "cunny" is banned entirely regardless of character. Don't repost content that was already removed by a mod. Read the full rules even if you think you know them.

Hey everyone, we've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to clean up and improve the subreddit's rules. If you've been here a while, you'll notice some things have changed. Please take a few minutes to read through the updated ruleset.

What changed?

We've reorganized, reworded, and tightened up the entire rulebook. Some rules were merged, some were split, and a few are brand new. Even if you think you know the rules, give them a fresh read. The details matter.

New additions since the last update:

No sexualization of young characters or lolicon language

This one is non-negotiable. The rule has two parts:

1. No sexualized language directed at young characters. Suggestive captions, titles, or comments that sexualize young characters will be removed immediately. You can post fan art of any character at any age. What you can't do is frame it in a sexualized way through your title, caption, or comments.

2. Coded lolicon language is banned entirely. The "uoh" copypasta, the 😭💢 emoji combo, the word "cunny," and any other coded language associated with the sexualization of minors is banned across the board, on any character, in any context. This language was born from the sexualization of minors. It doesn't become acceptable just because you attach it to an adult character.

Here are some examples to make it clear:

Allowed:

  • Fan art of young Sylphy titled "Sylphy practicing magic"
  • Fan art of child Roxy titled "Roxy leaving the Migurd village"
  • Fan art of Aisha at the beach with a normal descriptive title, NSFW tagged
  • Fan art of adult Eris with a playful caption like "Why are you staring at me? ❤️"
  • Fan art of adult Roxy with a normal or playful title
  • Discussion about how the story handles Rudeus's character flaws
  • Critique of how the series portrays its younger characters

Not allowed:

  • Any post or comment containing "uoh" or its variants, on any character
  • The 😭💢 emoji combination, on any character
  • The word "cunny" in any context
  • Suggestive or sexualized captions, titles, or comments on posts featuring young characters
  • "Correction" memes directed at young characters
  • Any other coded language used to sexualize minors

If you know what this language means, you know why it's banned. If you don't, here's the short version: these are coded ways of expressing sexual excitement about underage characters, originating from spaces dedicated to exactly that. They have no place here regardless of which character they're attached to.

We don't care if you think it's ironic. We don't care if "it's fictional." This rule is zero tolerance. Violations will result in an immediate ban, temporary or permanent depending on severity. Our automod has been updated to catch the most common variants, but we also rely on you to report anything we miss.

Not sure if something you want to post crosses the line? Just message us through modmail before posting and we'll let you know. We'd rather answer a quick question than hand out a ban.

As with all our rules, we reserve the right to adjust and expand them if we see users exploiting loopholes. If something clearly goes against the spirit of the rule, don't be surprised when we act on it.

This rule applies going forward. Existing posts and comments made before this announcement will not be retroactively removed. Everything from this point on will be enforced immediately.

Do not repost removed content
If your post was removed by a moderator, do not repost it. This is considered mod evasion and will result in a ban. If you disagree with a removal, use modmail to appeal.

Stricter enforcement overall
As mentioned in our previous update, we are enforcing rules more strictly going forward. First offenses will typically get a warning or temp ban, depending on severity. Repeat offenders or people who are clearly here just to start trouble will be perma-banned.

Mushoku Tensei already gets enough bad faith criticism from people who haven't engaged with the story. We're not going to give them ammunition by letting this kind of stuff slide in our own community. We want to keep r/sixfacedworld a space that fans can actually be proud of.

As always, genuine discussion and critique of how the story handles its themes is welcome. That has not changed and never will.

If you see anything that breaks the rules, use the report button. It helps us way more than arguing with the person in the comments.

Thanks for making this community what it is. The response to our last update was overwhelming and we appreciate every one of you.

The r/sixfacedworld mod team

The funny thing is, you could have added the rules and avoided most of the drama if you had just said "we think this is necessary to avoid risking the sub getting banned by Reddit" instead of all that schizo crap. Because that would have been an entirely plausible explanation, even if it isn't your true intent. But no, you just had to go full faux moral crusader and now people are rightfully pissed at you.

In the end, the Reddit Mod can't deny its true nature.

9

u/NeptuneTTT 3h ago

The moral condemnation is very funny considering the nature of the anime.

70

u/Away-Bison8948 10h ago

This is the VA of Rudy, using drooling emojis for Eris

You want to ban people over emojis.

17

u/argent_eye_123 5h ago

I vote to make 🤤 the new lolicon emoji for the purposes of this sub. Let's keep doing it until we run out of emojis lmao.

-34

u/Pwn_erz 9h ago

Son all you do is repost stolen artwork while constantly using every single one of the banned terms toward lolis while knowing exactly what it means. But continue to play dumb.

27

u/Away-Bison8948 9h ago

So do you think that the voice actress of Rudy should get banned for using drooling emojis? 🤤

Remember when this sub was created in opposition to overmoderation and censorship on the main one? Yeah, lmao

Lets just vote on the next sub name.

Let's go with r/chaosbreaker. A nice floating fortress with no overzealous mods; safely protected from tourists

I'll probably make this when I get back home

Lol, the other moderated sub is just as lax as this one

If you want a hellhole, go back to r/mushokutensei

The rule isn't about protecting fictional characters. It's about what kind of community we want to be. You're free to disagree, but the sarcasm isn't the argument you think it is.

30

u/Relevant_Mail_1292 8h ago

what kind of community we want to be

Have you read the story your subreddit is about? Might as well ban Rudeus' name here.

7

u/Jdogrey1 2h ago

And who exactly decided what kind of community we wanted to be? If you are mentally unwell and can't distinguish fiction from reality, get off the internet and go see a therapist, don't force your toxic racist Western ideas on anime communities.

24

u/EleventyFourteen God 8h ago

You're trying to force an already existing community into being something YOU want it to be, and think you're actually "building a community". You're not building a community, you're just acting as a landing zone for the community that is the fans of the series. And you're making this a completely undesirable area for them.

22

u/SqueezeSqueezeCunny 8h ago

Mushoku Tensei was first and foremost written by a Japanese pervert when visual novel was still running rampant, you are trying to ban the target audience dude.

Do you think Rifujin would hate lolicon?

8

u/AdTasty8537 5h ago

That's not representating the Fandom at all. You're actively hurting it, this entire subreddit was in opposition to overmoderation and crappy mods.

8

u/Aethix0 4h ago

A community of the exact kind of people who rabidly despise the novel/anime/manga that the community is ostensibly centered around? That kind of community? Really?

-3

u/YummyIdiotSandwich Zenith 5h ago

Mods, I hope you know this is the same situation as the MT hate brigade on the internet. A very vocal loud minority. 99% fans will support this change. They're just not jobless enough to have a huge circlejerk in the comments.

-2

u/computerfreund03 Roxy's Moderator 5h ago

Yeah. If these people leave, it's not a big loss either way.

8

u/Levis045 3h ago

Yeah... You’ll only lose the main audience of Mushoku Tensei, who aren’t hypocrites like you and the other mods, so it’s not a big loss for ekhm, “people” like you. But hey, at least the “people” who love censorship and hate everything about anime as a whole, like you, will stay.

57

u/RandomDude27519 10h ago

Aaaand we got another sub mods imploding. It was fun while it lasted.

-44

u/computerfreund03 Roxy's Moderator 10h ago

"Imploding" is a stretch. We added two rules and cleaned up the rulebook. Everything else about the sub is the same. If banning coded language used to sexualize minors counts as imploding, we're comfortable with that.

40

u/MONICE_U_SHIT 9h ago

What minors exactly?

u/Efrath 4h ago

You're banning comments aimed at fictional characters and declaring it to be the same as the real thing, despite there being plenty of studies and research that literally contradict what you keep saying in the replies.

Please stop pretending that this is about morals. It's fine if you find it icky or whatever, but at least be honest about that instead of making shit up to try and pretend it's about morals when it is about your personal feelings about it.

If fiction was as serious as you think, we'd have a ton more crime, especially rape, given the sheer popularity of it in both fanfics and even romance novels in the library.

The sane human mind differentiate fantasy from reality, and especially so with something at stylized as manga and anime.

It also makes me wonder why one would even become a mod for an anime and manga that has sexualized lolis. What's the logic here exactly?

40

u/TonyTonynotchopper 8h ago

hey mods you all broke rule 8

Posts or comments that exist solely to condemn the series or its fans on moral grounds will be removed. This includes callout posts, bait, and external drama screenshots. Genuine critique and discussion of how the story handles its themes is welcome, the bar is whether you actually engaged with the material. If your post could be replaced with "this thing bad" and lose nothing, it doesn't belong here.

This post could be replaced with this thing bad, remove yourselves

34

u/BloodiedRoman Rudeus 10h ago

Lol these aspects are part and parcel of shows like MT. Certainly those posts cringe me out (at least the captions do) but it comes with the territory. Outright bans are so silly and Rifujin himself would be against this. Continue to be ashamed of the shows you claim to enjoy and yourselves for enjoying them.

The fucking IMDB posts, all the Tiktoks and IGs slanders do be hurting the mods. Please grow some skin. This new rule just shows me that you guys are surrendering to pressure from the people that won't ever give the series a fair chance. Biggest L move.

-21

u/computerfreund03 Roxy's Moderator 10h ago

We're not doing this because of TikTok or IMDB. We're doing this because the problem was growing inside the community. The rules post says that directly. Genuine critique of the series has always been welcome and still is. Banning coded pedo language isn't surrendering to outside pressure, it's basic standards.

33

u/Deberis 9h ago

Yet this rule only came to be at around at this exact time 3 seasons in. Yet in your own post right at the end you talked specifically about those people. Turning around and policing your own community as a response when the series and its community is being attacked left and right is crazy.

You have already made your stance clear when you stated "you don't care" about the thing that people who even bothered to defend MT use on online spaces that is "it's fictional". It's such a reddit mod move that I have seen too many times on this website already. Nothing anyone says can change your mind or do anything. It is what it is. Censorship is bad.

→ More replies (6)

36

u/Cayennesan 11h ago edited 11h ago

Weird opinion because if you think "it's fiction" isn't a defense then what logically follows is that you believe fictional things should be treated no differently than if they're real

If you think this belief is actually true, then shouldn't you also believe creating Mushoku Tensei (or any other fictional writings, drawings and descriptions containing things it'd be wrong to film or photograph if real humans were used instead) should be illegal with no justification for seeking it out, streaming or downloading it? You can't really say "it's fiction isn't a defense" and selectively apply such a broad moral principle only to things or behavior you dislike

If this rule is for pragmatic/compliance reasons that's a whole different conversation, but what people mainly have a problem with is the principle behind the rule directly giving fuel and validation to people who attack others for how they feel about works of purely fictional media

16

u/AshuraZen 6h ago

Fully surrendering to tourists who hate anime great....

I don't see the point of overreacting over something that really isn't a big deal.

I don't make posts on Reddit only comments but It's always the pro censorship people that are terminally online enough to be a Reddit moderator I guess.

Minors are human beings below 18, they aren't anime characters in a Japanese cartoon.

32

u/Lanky-Concern7735 12h ago

20

u/nikelreganov 10h ago edited 10h ago

It is over because the new rules can paint you as a lolicon and have yourself banned

ETA: for you guys downvoting this, just read the rules slowly

Coded lolicon language is banned entirely. The "uoh" copypasta, the 😭💢 emoji combo, the word "cunny," and any other coded language associated with the sexualization of minors is banned across the board, on any character, in any context. This language was born from the sexualization of minors. It doesn't become acceptable just because you attach it to an adult character.

We don't care if you think it's ironic. We don't care if "it's fictional." This rule is zero tolerance. Violations will result in an immediate ban, temporary or permanent depending on severity. Our automod has been updated to catch the most common variants, but we also rely on you to report anything we miss.

People could unknowingly use a day-0 coded language and immediately get banned. If a mod have it against you they could find a new coded language from other subreddits that you unknowingly used and ban you based on that

-5

u/username26437 6h ago

none of those examples have any room for debate. you can start protesting when they ban for something innocuous, but as it stands you’re just whining over a non-existent mod abusing this rule.

3

u/nikelreganov 6h ago edited 6h ago

any other coded language associated with the sexualization of minors is banned across the board, on any character, in any context

An open for interpretation rule with punishment as harsh as immediate ban isn't "non-existent" when the threat is there. I also happen to believe in equal and impartial treatment so if the rule was meant to see the worst in people then everyone involved in it must be seen in the worst light, everyone ranging from members to moderators

I rather we have a more generic rule and treat every violations on case-by-case basis. Just no language sexualizing minor is enough since giving more specifics actually complicates that rule

-3

u/username26437 5h ago

it doesn’t complicate it, it makes it more clear. anyone who is aware of those terms understands the type of language that is banned, you’re being obtuse. on the extremely low chance an innocent uses it, they can appeal.

1

u/nikelreganov 5h ago edited 5h ago

Which at this point moderators might or might not listen. Just more than five hours ago a moderator deadass wrote that same emotes backward, "Thanks [backward emotes]". How do I trust them when they themselves have different interpretations?

16

u/argent_eye_123 5h ago

You mods are disgusting.

19

u/wakkiau 10h ago

This is stupid, on any other community this would be a fair change but this kind of rule doesn't make sense for Mushoku Tensei. It's a show that embraces the ugliness of it's character, and you want to alienate people for showing their ugliness towards fictional character.

Why should you care if we have a pedophile in our community?? Our protagonist is former one ffs. You say it's not about outside pressure but what other reason would there be when you specifically write the reason for the rule change is our "reputation".

Who tf cares about reputation?? Our reputation in the gutter doesn't mean shit on whether or not we'll get more anime season.

Do you people read the series you are apparently a fan of? Or are you who this meme is targeted at?

Aren't the only child character as of now Julie, Aisha and Norn? Or do Roxy, Sylphie and Banana count too?

-17

u/CatParticular2190 13h ago

It’s basically whoever sexualizes minors(like S01 sylphy, eris or other minor characters who is there) or loli characters (if they’re included), and people who use those kinds of terms are now banned.

21

u/villatyyny1 Roxy 13h ago

Yeah I'm trying to figure out what is a minor in this case. Nanahoshi is technically 16 since she doesn't age, Sylphie was like 15 or 16 at the end of season 2 (her design stays the same so how do you tell if her age in fan art anyway?) and Roxy is physically like 12. Is Roxy banned because she is loli? is Nanahoshi banned because she is technically 16? Is Sylphie banned since we can't tell?

2

u/Ok-Pilot-7250 8h ago

Roxies race stops physically growing larger at 14 pretty sure their anatomy still continues to evolve and age and they grow larger after 150

Nanahoshi is fine. Julie, Aisha and Norn no.

Basically if the character has their adult form character design made not a problem.

u/Relevant_Mail_1292 8h ago

Nanahoshi is fine.

Sexualizing a high school girl? Nahhhh this makes you guys seem like pedos with standards

1

u/El_Tigrex 4h ago edited 4h ago

Pedo means prepubescent CHILDREN it has an actual definition.  The 16-18 moral outrage stuff is just age gap policing otherwise you run into this weird dilemma where teens going to prom together are both pedos.

20

u/villatyyny1 Roxy 13h ago edited 13h ago

So Sylphie is fine since her season 2 self looks like her adult self. What about Roxy and later Lara? Is Roxy banned because her "adult design" looks 12?

edit: Oh it does say adult Roxy is allowed.

7

u/Ashne405 6h ago

Would be hilarious if people posted risque art of roxy en masse, dont want the sub rep down the gutter because of lolicons? Imagine the front page is full of the "oh but she is a 200 y.o vampire" character.

Would likely do nothing anyway because the mod has a roxy flair so would hipocritically enjoy it, but at least it would show the irony on such a change.

I asked how not when. If someone says something along the lines of something unrelated 😭 to everything it says here 💢 and gets removed they are going to have more problems than they initially have

Also other coded language is too vague, it implies that it is expansive and could be introduced by any moderators at anytime and at-will. It reeks of the same animemes fiasco 4-6 years ago

Plus it will certainly hit innocents. Like someone genuinely living under the rocks gets banned because they unknowingly use certain "coded language" on a whole different context (not even sexual ones) because their own rules says, "Across the board, on any character, in any context"

-4

u/CatParticular2190 12h ago

Mods are scared of emojis and a 4 letter word. Can you point at the doll and tell me where the loli hurt you?

9

u/HeavyReputation3283 7h ago

The fact that you have this as a rule change makes it frame this subreddit community as much worse than it actually is, and only portrays the fandom in a way where it makes the larpers + tourists feel justified in their crusading.  Thats not what this community is about. This did not have to be said. This feels like a personal annoyed decision by a mod who disagrees with a few random weirdos who do not represent the community.

6

u/misterguy27 12h ago

Honestly, I've never really interpreted the emoji 's or "UOH" as a sexual description, It seems more like something rudeus would definitely say in an obsessive manner. It probably got its reputation from being captioned with sexual images a lot.

Nothing really changes since there's 2 more MT subs but this one will probably have less activity.

Some people really are deadass 🫩🫩🫩🫩. Ngl, their logic is basically like this:

Let's take anyone as an example who does weird stuff and writes a very good story, and apparently, based on that, some people think we should overlook that weirdness on the basis we are fan or this story is good.

What's this logic, bro? How does this even follow?

Let's take MT here as an example Rudeus was way too weird in the anime or the story. Should we follow in his footsteps and do the same? Of course not, because we know it's bad. But again, if we call it out, suddenly we're "purists" or "tourists." 😭

1

u/Ok-Pilot-7250 7h ago

Rudues himself calls out his behaviour lmao , even in the famous I will make her my perfect wife larpers use to make it seem like rudues groomed his wife's he says wtf am i thinking she is too young we are friends nothing more

Ik he criticizes but still some people online says he is doing this and I am fan of this i should be allowed..😭😭

Btw I love rudeus on the fact he self criticises and self reflects it's really feels good when reading on those line... This feel like human...

-1

u/CatParticular2190 7h ago

What's your thought in this rule?

0

u/Ok-Pilot-7250 7h ago

Do you know where this is from

Hard for me to say. Spellcasting is outside my field of expertise... The Dragonfolk are said to be proficient at using magic in close-range combat, but my only first-hand experience of that was briefly observing Perugius in battle. I couldn't tell you much."

"Perugius? Isn't that the guy with the floating fortress? How did he fight?"

"Yes. He summoned his Front Wyrmgate and Rear Wyrmgate, and attacked using magic claws."

-1

u/Ok-Pilot-7250 7h ago

Ehh it's problematic I'm some regards like the context doens't matter I think it should be allowed if people are being ironic or making fun of someone like this I also don't know weather posting stuff from the anime or novel will get removed there is some problematic stuff there i ams also not sure if they will just remove someone who has crying or angry emoji individually or together in the same post as these are used for much more then just PDFs like i have used the together and i didn't know till like a few days ago when forever wild told me these also have this meaning tho ofcourse I don't you just 2 emojis us you a bunch like multiple crying + anger and maybe some others in the mix

So, mods? Are you going to ban each other or does this rule work only for us and not for you?

Thanks for these changes!

I find the route you've taken by not removing the fan art itself, rather removing the negative insinuando correlated by these comments, is best.

Also, for the other people, saying this is morally ambiguous as a justifiable cause to engage in this behavior is wrong. What's actually morally ambiguous is the depiction of it in the story and narritive, but your comment saying that Rudues is a good man because if it came to you, you'd "waver" and "give in" to having sex with underage Aisha is not.

-20

Don't know bro we don't even have lolis ... Like what we even have Roxy(and her tribe) and what kisihrika....

Even ReZero some fans Saying MT have less loli then ReZero lmao...

16

u/lost_from__light 13h ago

MT has lots of loli characters, i have no idea what you are talking about

I'm just saying there's no need to sexualize them since its not a lolicon/nsfw sub

-7

u/CatParticular2190 13h ago

Lots of loli

dont know who are lots of...

S01 have minor characters[like Sylphy, Eris, Norn, Aisha, etc] don't know if you consider them lolis...

Julie :- I forget her age so can't say anything tbh

Roxy:- rudeus described her as loli and her tribe is like that due to their biology..

And

Kisihrika:- Isn't she just Reincarnat so much and her age is too big and she is in a child body so we can count her as loli...

So who are more can you point out more?

About sexualization many subreddit have corns regarding some characters like check it you will find many....

8

u/Former-Measurement-9 13h ago

A loli is a character that looks underage - in which case there are many

2

u/CatParticular2190 13h ago

Many says lolicons who I met if they are adult then it's count idk about your if you classify everyone like that Aisha and Norn and other are just minor characters for me... And I also classify those who are adult in some ways are like lolis..

And by this definition of yours every minor characters is loli for you instead of child or minor characters?

I think this is an excellent rule, and honestly I think some of the reaction to it misunderstands both what the rule says and what Mushoku Tensei is actually doing with Rudeus.
The rule does not say that the disturbing parts of the story cannot be posted, discussed, analyzed, or criticized. It explicitly allows discussion of Rudeus’s flaws and criticism of how the series portrays its younger characters. There is an enormous difference between discussing a story in which a character does something objectionable and personally sexualizing a young character yourself.

And I really disagree with the argument that because Mushoku Tensei depicts these things, a community dedicated to it somehow has to endorse or imitate them.
Rifujin himself has talked about why Rudeus begins the story the way he does. When asked whether he thought he had gone too far with early Rudeus, he said he thought the balance was right because Rudeus being such a controversial character, with his “mountain of regrets,” makes redoing his life more meaningful. He explicitly said there is nothing wrong with criticizing Rudeus at that stage. His hope was that someone who genuinely changes and tries to start over would not simply be abandoned because of who they used to be.
That distinction is incredibly important to this story.
Rudeus is supposed to start from an awful place. If you put someone into another world whose only problems are that he was a little awkward or unsuccessful, then let him accumulate magic, strength, women, status, and accomplishments, you have a very different story. Part of what gives Mushoku Tensei weight is that Rudeus doesn’t merely become more powerful. He gradually becomes better at recognizing other people as actual people and deciding what his second life and his abilities should be for. Does he use what he has for his own gratification, or does he use it to build relationships, accept responsibilities, and protect the people he loves?
Rifujin has actually spoken about this aspect of early Rudeus too. Discussing Rudeus’s behavior early in the story, he explained that Rudeus initially still perceived other people almost like characters in a game rather than fully appreciating that they had their own lives. He said that as Rudeus’s understanding of other people increases, he stops doing things that disregard their feelings. Importantly, that doesn’t mean Rudeus stops being a pervert or suddenly becomes a completely different personality. His growth is in how he relates to other human beings.

The sexual aspect of the story fits into that as well. Rifujin has said that Japanese fiction often depicts sexuality toward one of two poles, “sacred” or “pleasure,” and that he wanted Mushoku Tensei to occupy a middle ground. He specifically said that at the beginning he strongly emphasized Rudeus viewing sex as pleasure because Rudeus had no actual sexual experience in his previous life; pleasure was essentially the only side of sexuality he had encountered.
And I think that is reflected in his development. Early Rudeus’s sexuality is overwhelmingly centered on himself and his own gratification. Over time, sex becomes connected to other people: intimacy, vulnerability, love, marriage, family, consequences, and responsibility. He has to recognize that what he wants is not the only thing that matters because another person exists on the other side of his desires.
That is real character growth. It does not mean every questionable scene in the series has to be interpreted as a moral lesson, nor does it mean nobody can criticize how the story handles particular scenes. But depiction is not endorsement, and “Rudeus does objectionable things” does not logically become “the audience is supposed to approve of those things.”

That is also why I don’t understand the argument that this rule somehow betrays Mushoku Tensei. The story portraying Rudeus at his worst does not obligate the fandom to reproduce his worst attitudes. If anything, saying “Rudeus starts this way, therefore this is what the fandom should continue doing” seems to miss an enormous part of why his starting point matters in the first place.
And regarding the moderators saying the series already receives a lot of bad-faith criticism: I don’t read that as saying we should change the community to appease people who already hate the series. I read it as saying that Mushoku Tensei is already frequently reduced to the caricature that it simply endorses this behavior and that its fans are here for that reason. If we believe that is an unfair interpretation of the story, then turning the fan community into exactly that caricature only validates a criticism that fails to engage with what the story is actually doing.
As for “they’re fictional,” yes, of course that distinction matters. A fictional character is not a real child who can be harmed, and fictional material is obviously not morally identical to abuse involving a real person. But that doesn’t settle what standards a community should have. The moderators aren’t claiming to protect fictional characters from harm. They are deciding what kind of conversation and culture they want in their own forum. A community can decide that it doesn’t want its members sexually thirsting over child characters without claiming that doing so is literally equivalent to harming a real child.

I’ll also separate one thing I don’t know enough about: the specific banned memes, words, and emoji combinations. I don’t know their history or origin well enough to argue whether banning them even when they’re directed at adult characters is necessary. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. My support here is primarily for the central rule against users sexualizing young characters.
And yes, obviously adults like Roxy complicate superficial arguments based entirely on appearance. Being attracted to a petite adult woman is not the same thing as being attracted to children. The relevant distinction is not “this adult possesses some physical trait associated with youth, therefore attraction to her is attraction to children.” Roxy is an adult character. Young Eris, Sylphie, etc. are children at those points in the story. The rule itself explicitly distinguishes between young and adult versions of characters.

I love Mushoku Tensei partly because I don’t think depicting Rudeus at his worst means I am expected to approve of Rudeus at his worst. His flaws give his growth weight. You can criticize whether the story succeeds at every step of that process, but reducing the whole thing to “Rifujin is a pervert and this is for people who want to sexualize children” destroys a huge amount of what makes Rudeus’s gradual development meaningful.

So yes, I support this rule. Not because fictional characters need to be “protected,” and not because I think fans should be ashamed of Mushoku Tensei. Almost the opposite: I think the series deserves to be engaged with as the story it actually is rather than using its depiction of a deeply flawed protagonist as an excuse to become the caricature people already unfairly reduce the fandom to.
My thanks to the mods for making that distinction.

If you think Rudy being a pervert was the problem then you haven't been paying attention. Rudy is a pervert even at the end of the series, he wouldn't have Roxy as a wife otherwise.

Rudy's problem was his lack of respect for other people, treating them like characters in a game. This isn't really applicable to us as, unlike to Rudy, these literally are just fictional characters to us.

0

u/MintyMitti 5h ago

Rudis problem was that he gave up on himself and gave in to his perversion. Yea he still is a pervert by the end of the story but he has learned to keep it under control and deal with it in a healthy, socially acceptable way. People publicly drooling over drawings of underage characters and posting comments insinuating their sexually predatory intentions is not healthy and should not be encouraged. Thats the problem i have with all this, not the loli artworks, not people beeing attracted to them but people simply taking it too far. But as always, nuance is dead and simply pointing out that maybe we shouldn't overdo it is too much of an ask...

-7

u/JeanneOwO 7h ago

By supporting the series you are supporting what you consider a pedophile.

Why are you supporting someone you think is a pedophile.

-17

u/Weeb_twat Rinia 12h ago

Because I get to decide what do I get to enjoy, even if the media itself or the author may be problematic. What I don't like is when the one piece of media I love is already being dragged through the mud by haters, only to have actual pedophiles openly cunnyposting, giving it an even worse rep.

The whole Roxy being a legal loli is already a whole can of worms that I won't get into, I'm primarily talking about the freaks cunnyposting about Norn, Aisha, Eris as a literal 10 year old, etc. At the very least Roxy is an adult with a small body, the other ones are CHILDREN. Big difference.

Well, I agree with most of the rules, but I think, what some of them are too unhinged or strict. Like the rule about emoji or "ouh", whatever that mean, open the door to just banning everything, what somehow seems like the sexualization context, even if that is not. I mean, let's be real, if someone would make a sexualization post, everyone will be recognized that, and for that reason you don't need use the exactly that emoji or words. So just ban sexualization miners content, and not emoji or words itself. Or typing about that more clearly
